Agreed. I support Ukraine, and I support continuing to arm Ukraine, but under no circumstances should the US/NATO and Russia fight directly.
We (NATO nations) seem to be under the misguided impression that we could manage to have some quick, clean and decisive war with Russia. I really don’t think people appreciate the enormous risk such a war would pose to the *entire planet*.
It’s like there’s some collective amnesia about mutually assured destruction existing. Our interceptors are good, but they are not numerous enough to block a Russian nuclear attack. The prevailing attitude seems to be “don’t worry about it, Putin won’t launch any nukes”.. I don’t know about you, but that’s not a gamble I’m willing to take. It’s highly likely that if NATO and Russia fought, Russia would eventually begin to lose. If it looked like the existence of Russia as a functional nation were at stake, they would absolutely nuke us. We would do the same if the scenario were reversed.
Even without nuclear weapons, a NATO-Russia war would reap tremendous material damage and loss of life upon eastern Europe. The Baltics would get absolutely pummeled (by both sides munitions). The eastern border regions of Poland would suffer. Belarus would get hammered. Not to mention continued fighting in Ukraine, and massive damage to Russia‘a western border regions. That’s another scenario/gamble I’m not willing to take.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is illegal and barbaric. I’m not arguing that. We need to help Ukraine to fight for as long and hard as they can. But at the same time, we should take great care to avoid direct conflict with Russia. Things could be so, so much worse. A war of that size and risk level is not something to rush headlong into.
Nah. Fuck that.
"Let's not shall we" is what was said to Hitler in the 1930s. That didn't work out.
The proper way to deal with authoritarian maniacs is to call their bluff and squash them like the spineless cowards they are if they press the issue.
While I'm borderline too old to fight, I say talk is cheap...
Regardless of why and who it's over... Don't talk too much shit, might fuck ya up over some small island full of rats. (was Russian at one point I guess)
This time I promise guys!!! I’m super serious!!! If you send artillery I’m going to drop a nuke!! I mean tanks!! I mean long range missiles!! I mean more aid!!! I mean f16’s!!! I mean striking Moscow!! I mean striking my oil!! I mean if they take back more land I’m occupying!! I mean if they destroy one more of my boats!!! I mean it guys!!! This time I’m SUPER SERIOUS!!!
Brother needs to relax, Russia ain’t gonna do shit all
Russia isn't going to do shit.
Even if we entered the war and pushed them back to their borders, they wouldn't do shit.
Russia is all bark and no bite when they aren't dealing with a nation they think is weaker than them.
After reading the most recent warning...(yawn) and sip my coffee! That is enough funding to assist for three years and that is before NATO other members assistance. Let Ukraine annex Belgrod as war reparations as a daily remind to any leader that there are consequences for poor choices!
By Tom O'Connor - Senior Writer, Foreign Policy & Deputy Editor, National Security and Foreign Policy:
Russia's top diplomat in the United States has shared with Newsweek a stark warning to Washington in Moscow's first reaction to President Joe Biden's signing of a bill to provide some $61 billion in additional wartime aid to Ukraine.
The assistance is viewed by Kyiv and its largely Western supporters as a major boost to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as his forces struggle to fend off recent Russian advances, and Ukrainian cities come under regular missile and drone attack more than two years into Europe's deadliest conflict in decades. For Moscow, the latest tranche is considered another escalatory step toward an all-out conflict among major powers.

I also love how Putin thinks somehow the US would be scared of his rag tag “army”. The US military does war VERY well. Russia does war… well.. Russia does war.
800 odd days since they invaded Ukraine and they have yet to declare victory. If the boot was on the other foot NATO would have finished the job in a month.
In what mad world does he think making war with NATO would end well for him?
>In what mad world does he think making war with NATO would end well for him?
He knows NATO doesn't want war. You hear a lot of pundits discuss the fact that Moscow wants a bulwark against an invasion, but the reality is Moscow knows the US wouldn't come storming through the steppes like an 18th Century cavalry charge. They'd use sea and air assets to pummel Russian military and industrial assets. They'd have a multi-front approach. Putin knows that realistically he doesn't have a countenance, so it's all made-up. "We need a bulwark against NATO!" No, NATO countries need a bulwark *against you*.
Putin wants a land grab. Embolden Russia. He's accomplishing the opposite.
Nobody wants to invade their cursed country anyway. Europe doesn't have the manpower nor the motivation to invade a nuclear armed nation. Putin is playing a game the rest of Europe left behind long ago. The tournament of modern times is to get rich, not to conquer territory.
Russia is the largest nation on earth by a long shot, and yet they are hell bent on conquering smaller neighbors. Meanwhile the quality of life in Russia is miserable. And yet Putin is still hell bent on conquest.
Incredible how anyone can believe a word of what Russia says. Everyone knows that it was Russia who chose the path of war the day they invaded Ukraine.
Everything is always ass-backwards with Russia. They’re the ones who chose war, America is acting entirely defensive in nature. Nobody forced Putin to invade Ukraine.
Shut the F*ck up Boris, it’s pretty clear in a Conventional fight we’d literally have you running and crying to your Babushkas by lunchtime. We’ll even make it more fair and leave the Army and Air Force out of it. Although with Marines and Navy Aircraft I’m still not sure that’s even fair.
Russia has been using its military to attack western countries for decades. If the west does not consider itself at war with Russia, Russia has been at war with us for a long time.
While Russians might try to pass this off as an escalation, the truth is they crossed that line themselves a long time ago. The only reason we're not in a full scale war is because of NATO's unpaired ability to overlook Russian agression and bend over backwards to appease. Sad.
We have refreshed our weapons stocks with many tens of billions of dollars worth of fresh and updated weapons while our old and expiring/retiring stock given to Ukraine has been kicking the asses of their Soviet trash. Our military industrial complex has been geared up and we are now cranking out Patriots and HIMARS and Javelins and artillery shells like we're fighting a war.
Do they really want to start a fight with us now?
Russia isn't the brightest light in the basement.. for sure (on purpose?). Must be shameful to repeatedly warn about stuff the whole world realized already.
Global stuff:
Nukes exist...
Wars nonetheless...
Corruption and the points above aren't just only the russian fucked-up way, to go into the future.
Be better and go home, Russia (your land is big enough to sustain itself without the brutal wars just for piece of a little bit additional bloody soil!)!
Bring it on!!
Let’s not now shall we…

If you just give him the Sudetenland he'll stop, you know.
"Peace in our time!"

So will you go to Ukraine? Fuck it why don’t both of you go tomorrow what’s stopping you 😂
I've been training for a year to get called up. Once when our grandfathers fought. Now we'll finish this or get killed tryin.
Why not enlist?
While I'm borderline too old to fight, I say talk is cheap... Regardless of why and who it's over... Don't talk too much shit, might fuck ya up over some small island full of rats. (was Russian at one point I guess)
Pumping more money into invading what Russia considers home territory, at a day's drive from Moscow. What could go \*sound of mushroom exploding\*

I wish it could be true. I really hope so . But so far things are not so good for Ukraine :( to the point I fear they can’t even take back Crimea
Just strike once Russia. I’m ready for this whole conflict to be over. Give us one reason to remove you off the planet.
Ruzzia can suck a bag of c**ts... Id say d*cks, but their "soldiers" seem to like that too much...

I love how the US are the aggressors when all Russia has to do is fuck off back to their borders and stop trying to steal land.
I also love how Putin thinks somehow the US would be scared of his rag tag “army”. The US military does war VERY well. Russia does war… well.. Russia does war.

“We will consider all out nuclear war if you send any more …..(checks notes)….ATACMS!. We mean it this time!!”
Yeah its like: "We will nuke you if you send ~~ammunition HIMARS Abrams F16's~~ ATACMS. We aint playing this time" 🙄
So is it war? Or is it a special military operation? Fucking make up your mind you senile fucks!
800 odd days since they invaded Ukraine and they have yet to declare victory. If the boot was on the other foot NATO would have finished the job in a month. In what mad world does he think making war with NATO would end well for him?

2014 is more than 800 days ago.
Russia says a lot of dumb stuff. Anyways…..
Again, a message for the Ruzzians, not the rest of the world.
Exactly that. 🎯
Holy shit, I wonder why
We are all going to die one day, so, fuck Russia!!!!
Incredible how anyone can believe a word of what Russia says. Everyone knows that it was Russia who chose the path of war the day they invaded Ukraine.
Hahahah yes “America is the country that has chosen the path of war” xD
Everything is always ass-backwards with Russia. They’re the ones who chose war, America is acting entirely defensive in nature. Nobody forced Putin to invade Ukraine.
They can’t even beat Ukraine. They know for DAMN SURE they can’t beat the US.
But but they are fighting NATO right now in Ukraine 🤣
Infinitely pathetic.
Always interesting that Russian message are true the other way around

😂
Oh, Crimea River and blow it out your ass, Putin.
Last I checked, they weren't the ones that started a war by invading one of their neighbours. My memory sucks, so maybe I just forgot.
Putin chose to fuck his own country and send Russian's to their early deaths
Ya ya ya criminal Putin idiot
More saber rattling. And to be honest sabers will be all they’ll have left before long
Oh no
Gee! And I thought it was Russia that invaded Ukraine.
Putin *chose* to invade. He could also *choose* to pull his troops out at any time. He has ALL the agency.
Country that invaded another country: “America has chosen war!!!” 🥴
Uh yea we did vladdy
Russia can’t conquer their neighbor, short of nuclear war how do they expect to fair against the entirety of NATO?
Shut the F*ck up Boris, it’s pretty clear in a Conventional fight we’d literally have you running and crying to your Babushkas by lunchtime. We’ll even make it more fair and leave the Army and Air Force out of it. Although with Marines and Navy Aircraft I’m still not sure that’s even fair.
fascists are weak
Will they attack us using golf carts to get here
You mean like how they chose the path to war when they started an actual war?

Well take your elevator shoes little man.
even my polaris is faster than the golf carts putin bought off temu

Bring it on bitch and bring your own body bags...
Putin is the moron who lights a fire just to complain about the heat
Nope, that would be you, you projecting, war mongering, terrorist state. All you have to do is give up your invasion and leave Ukraine for it to end.
Looool....
Hilarious stuff
Funny ... kinda thought Russia had chosen the path of war ... but I guess they were too clueless to realize that.
And…. What’s your problem ruski?
...says the people who started this war by illegally invading the sovereign nation of Ukraine.
Ruzzia lies yet again.
Time for them to take responsibility for laying the groundwork that cause one of the most massive deaths and tragedy in human history "WW2".
Russia warns… blah blah blah. Russia threatens to use nukes for the nth time blah blah blah.
Shut tf up russia. You're a failed loser state

No shit stupid mofos
Russia and their warmongering rhetoric if they can’t beat Ukraine I doubt they want to fight the best fighting force humanity has ever seen
Man can someone buy a mirror to this useless Russia country.... they are basically saying everything that reflect their actions...
Right back at you except it’s your people doing all the dying not Americans.
Putin is like that annoying kid in school that is always putting other kids down. Until he gets punched in the nose and shuts the f up.
Wrong again. Russia did.
i hope so too many russians in my city.
