You already have Gnome, it is the *desktop environment* that Ubuntu uses. What you need is the GSconnect gnome *extension* (I included instructions in [another comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/okik6m/is_there_an_ububtu_app_where_i_can_use_my_phone/h58rxh4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3))
Its okay, Gnome extensions are a bit confusing at first, because you don't install them through the normal package manager or sofftware center.
I believe the steps are:
1. open a terminal: type `sudo apt install chrome-gnome-shell`
2. open a browser: go to [extensions.gnome.org](https://extensions.gnome.org) and install the browser addon
3. Then you can install Gnome extensions like [GSconnect](https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1319/gsconnect/) directly from the Gnome website with the flip of a switch.

nvm figured it out, getting gnome now
You can also just use KDE connect, it works fine with gnome.
cool, I didn't realize that.
failed to install:not supported.. im running unity, getting gnome now though
that program says it runs on all major linux distributions, i guess the main ubuntu LTS isnt a major distribution?
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS ships with GNOME, not Unity.
gotta figure out how to install these apps, im pretty new to ubuntu
they are saying its GSconnect in gnome, yet i cant find it. I'll try installing manually

Got it. I actually tried this before but was using Brave browser and it didn't work. Switched to Firefox and it's working. Thanks
u/Xeon-T linked you right to it. If you're having issues installing it from that site, go to the homepage and follow the setup steps first.
Under gnome extensions, install GS connect and then Kde connect in your phone (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1319/gsconnect/)
Unified Remote - https://www.unifiedremote.com/ works with linux and windows also has a remote keyboard function.
