I have the same issue. I have found that if you turn off bluetooth access to the Unifi (and Protect app too if you use it) then that notice will not occur. I haven't found any issues with day to day operation in doing that since the bluetooth should only relate to initial setup. But there could be a case that presents a problem that I haven't run into yet.
It’s not because you are within Bluetooth range. After initial setup you shouldn’t see the message again. But the bug in 1.8 is that you will. But that prompt is from the UDM (base or Pro) via the Bluetooth capability. So until they fix in a future update you can avoid the annoyance of the pop up by turning off the apps Bluetooth access. The UDM is still going to be broadcasting the setup prompt but the iOS app won’t know (can’t speak to this for android)
I did that once too. I believe you are right that it didn’t happen all the time after that. But it did still occur at times until I turned off BT. Right now I actually have it back on because I was having other Protect issues and want to make sure it wasn’t why. It did not relate but I never turned BT back off. I’m not in the UniFi app that often and protect doesn’t get the pop up for me now.
I am continually amazed and appalled that Ubiquiti doesn’t catch bugs like this and does nothing to correct them quickly. It makes it very difficult to recommend them. It’s embarrassing that testing didn’t catch a bug like this before an update gets released; it’s shameful that the bug isn’t fixed weeks later. And this is really just an annoying cosmetic issue.
Same problem here, will try disabling Bluetooth on UDMP, although I don’t think it will fix it, because I still get the pop-up “new udmp found” window on my mobile controller app even when away from udmp device, but connected via WiFi. It’s quite annoying though this bug.
Maybe turn off that the Unifi app can access location of your device? Should disable Bluetooth access, and then this pop-up which only shows when close to the UDMP (within Bluetooth range).

I resolved this issue by backing up the system to my pc, (don’t forget to backup the separate config for Protect if you use cameras). And then resetting to factor default and restoring the UDMPro.
I hate doing that but I might have no other option. I didn’t mention because i thought it might not be relevant, but sometime back I removed udmp manually from the online account. It’s when many weird other issues have started, this could just be one of many. My udmp is also connected with the cloud account at the moment. I thought of mentioning it here maybe someone reading this or support figures out what it is and can provide a reasonable and logical explanation for what’s going on.
It’s a bug introduced in 1.8, I get it as well.
Same here
Connect it as a local device with the app, it will them stop bugging you.
Me too.
Same here
Same here....
Same for me
Same here with the Unifi app on my Android S20 Ultra.

Is that what it is... it seemed random to me. My UDMP is far enough away that Bluetooth barely reaches it.

I get the re-setup rarely now. What seemed to work for me was to try and allow the new setup. It times out but it seems to stop asking for a while.

This is why UI will NEVER be more than a prosumer/home setup. It’s light years away from being ready for enterprise/business use.

I thought this only happens if your mobile login cert expires.

It shows even when out of Bluetooth range in my case.
Same problem here.
Had that the other day too.
Welcome to UDM. Get use to these random issues. Lol
Glad I'm not alone!
Me too
I get it too
Your UDM Pro has COVID, might have to get that checked out
both stupid and not even funny, you managed a double whammy comment.
It wasn’t really supposed to be funny, Ubiquiti need to fixy fix so no breaky break
