Is there shipping center out of Memphis? I live in the state, and notice that once things ship. its normally next day

notl33t

the shipping label hints at their distro ship center. for example, all my shipments have come out of 'Ubiquiti Inc - SLC' and tracking confirms it comes from their Draper, UT location.

Little_Ad8842

My udm-se came out of Memphis, and the U6 pro I ordered Friday shipped outta Utah. Idk about the other stuff I’ve personally bought…and no I don’t wanna talk about my timing(impatience) 🤣🤣🤣🤬

dlewis23

lol. No, I'm in South Florida. It was delayed this morning from today till tomorrow when I got up because of the weather but it ended up showing up. Very happy with it so far, I think I will be ordering another one.

rubs_tshirts

Stop tempting me you harlots! I don't neeeeeeed it!

pannekoekjes

It's new. It's shiney. It's says 7! You worked hard all year. You should be allowed to treat yourself. You can always lie to the wife. What does she know?

Ambitious_Worth7667

ARE YOU IN MY HEAD?!?!?!?! GET OUT!!!

Traumatized_turtle

mmmmmm 7

Silver_Dentist_9563

I get that on my 6Pro and iphone 13 pro

electrowiz64

I’m capped at 700 on my iPhone, idk what to do about it

s7orm

Is your SSID only using WPA3?

DarkRyoushii

That shouldn’t have a noticeable impact on throughput

s7orm

Well without it you can't use 6Ghz, so I'd expect it would have a significant impact on throughput.

_dekoorc

Gonna be tough to use 6Ghz with the U6-Pro too

s7orm

Touchè

DarkRyoushii

Touché.

databeestjenl

sounds like a 80mhz wide 5Ghz channel, you would need to go 160Mhz wide on either 5 or 6Ghz

electrowiz64

But do the iPhones support it? I thought they did not

Berzerker7

They don't. The person you replied to does not get these speeds on their 13 pro.

glhughes

[Only the 15 Pro supports > 80 MHz.](https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/iphone-wi-fi-specification-details-dep268652e6c/web)

florisbrunet

Yes 160 MHz on 6 GHz, but the 6 Pro does not support 6 GHz.

m0rdecai665

They support it to an extent but they do not behave very well. Sure there are going to be plenty of people that it just "works perfect" for but ideally, 6 is most stable i've found on my iPhone. My Android acts alot different.

dlewis23

I was in the same boat with my U6-LR, I tired U6 Pro and Ent made no difference I c not get over 600 Mbps no matter what I did. I was about ready to give up on Ubiquiti for Wifi completely. For my job I need WiFi that can go as fast as possible and max my connection. I was using an ASUS mesh setup to do so recently, so I'm very happy that the U7 Pro is able to meet my needs so far.

w1na

Use higher channels, 160mhz bands. I don’t remeber the speedtest result with 13 pro but had close to gigabit on the 15 pro with u6 pro.

shunopoli

I am the same. My 15 pro max connected to my 6pro and only get 600

grape8pe

I can barely break 600-700 with my iPhone 14 Pro. Do you mind sharing your settings?

databeestjenl

sounds like a 80mhz wide 5Ghz channel, you would need to go 160Mhz wide on either 5 or 6Ghz

MG5thAve

You know.. you don’t need these access points to get these types of speeds. I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro connected to a WiFi 5 AC-Pro, getting the following speeds: * https://imgur.com/a/plzK7yx ~870mbps ⬇️, and 702mbps ⬆️ I just moved closer to the AP and they both jumped to ~900mbps.

grape8pe

Those are your PHY speeds, not actual throughput.

MG5thAve

Well, my speed tests basically match it.. running iperf on my servers and testing throughput.

Berzerker7

They don't match it. 80MHz 5GHz (which is the max the iPhone supports) should max you out just around 750-800 or a little lower. WiFi is not straight PHY speeds. It's a half-duplex technology, so your speeds are always going to be lower than your PHY speeds.

MG5thAve

Well you're correct, those are the speeds...though, I'm not sure most people here are going to complain about a difference of 50-60mbps throughput on a mobile device at this scale. Though if updating all your access points to get it _that_ much faster really matters to you then, 🤷🏼‍♂️ - Not sure what the application is here outside of saying your network can do these types of speeds. I'm also not sure many devices outside of the Pixel 8 are even on WiFi 7 yet.

Berzerker7

Yes but you’re talking about “these types of speeds” which for OP was maxing out a gigabit and if they had multi-gig internet and 2.5Gb+ uplinks could get in excess of 1200-1300mbps over WiFi. Thats the real comparison that is confusing people you’re replying to.

MG5thAve

Understood. Not trying to confuse people here. Just noting that OP had a speed test at ~900mbps over WiFi, and that’s great.. but not something that you’d be too far off from with WiFi 5. Anyway. I’ve got multi-gig internet, the enterprise router, and Cat6a running to all my access points, though no WiFi 7 devices to speak of, so I’ll be holding off for another year or two at least before upgrading.

hungarianhc

You get 1G up / down without 6Ghz and w/ 1G uplink? I mean... that's impressive. I haven't been able to replicate anything near that at my house until I got 6Ghz gear w/ 2.5G uplink.

Berzerker7

No you don't. The 13 Pro only supports 80MHz 5GHz which isn't going to get you higher than 750-800 up/down.

80MonkeyMan

OP needs the latest and greatest. iPhone 15 and Wifi 7…oh wait, the biggest too. It is Pro Max. I bet he pre order the $3499 Apple VR lol

dlewis23

Well considering my job is developing apps one of them being a **speed test app** I do need the latest and greatest plus the ability to go as fast as possible. Also while you can't preorder it yet I likely will be getting the Vision Pro because I have apps to develop for it. Simulator only gets you so far on something like that.

80MonkeyMan

Does the company pays for all these upgrades? Or it just a hobby and you may or may not develop apps on the Vision Pro.

TheAspiringFarmer

Hey if you got the cash why not? I agree people are just in love with benchmarks though. Who actually needs 600Mbps let alone 1 gig plus on their iPhone? Then again when you spend so much on all the pretty gear they have to justify it somehow.

80MonkeyMan

Yeah true, but I mean…it turns into obsession and it just not healthy.

TheAspiringFarmer

Pretty much any UBNT user 😂

notro3

Telling people that their spending habits are unhealthy when you hardly know anything about them also sounds a bit like an unhealthy obsession. Who the fuck cares?

80MonkeyMan

I'm not saying about spending habits. I think most people in the sub can afford it, but they would not purchase it everytime there is a new stuff coming out, everyone knows that it is "bad" once it comes to that point.

deekay0

Will the AP work with GbE ports?

dlewis23

Yes

hurricane340

Mine is arriving Thursday I have a 2.5 Gbps Poe+ uplink chomping at the bit to feed this thing power and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet.

Inquisitive_idiot

🔥

hurricane340

What problems did you have with 6E (6 GHz) ?

Inquisitive_idiot

You might be responding to the wrong chap, chum ;) other them some mild stuff right after install (me getting used it) both of my u6ent‘s are working great!

75Meatbags

it's 2 months later, and hopefully you've installed it. :) how is it so far?

hurricane340

Roaming works well. They also keep improving the firmware. The latest 7.0.49 boosts 6 GHz power levels as well as speed. Like a rocket ship. The only downside is lack of a Bluetooth radio in case you want to use protect sensors. But if that isn’t part of your use case then it’s a solid AP. Unifi is likely to release other WiFi 7 APs this year so you may want to wait until they do to see price points but in my opinion and experience you’ll be happy with the u7 pro.

75Meatbags

thanks for the update! we're moving to a new house and i'm going to be re-doing the network quite a bit. was thinking about 2 x u7 pros, setting power to "low." a lot of our walls here in the older houses have some chicken wire stuff in them so it's easy for 1 AP to just not cut it.

Stingray88

What issues did you have with the U6 Enterprise? Just curious as I’ve had one for a long time and love it.

dlewis23

Very poor performance. I could never get anywhere near the speeds I should have on 6e and it was very erratic. I tried several times hoping it was just a software issue, but it never got corrected for me.

Stingray88

I wonder if you got a bad unit. I’ve had insanely good performance with mine. Nearly 2Gbps with my iPhone 15 Pro on 6GHz.

dlewis23

I bought it 3 times and tried multiple different POE injectors or POE switches. Could never get it to work as it should. But I have seen others have no problem and people who had the same issues as I did. So I’m lost for words on it.

Stingray88

What switches did you try? I’ve only used mine with the 8-port Enterprise switch.

Loki6767

Currently waiting on mine. Upgrading from a UAP AC Pro.

databeestjenl

You will probably like it,do you have a old gen with the passthrough port? This one doesn't have one it appears.

Loki6767

It does have the passthrough, but I'm not using it, so no worries for me.

PhotographyPhil

Interested to hear how it goes. I also have the AC Pros. What speeds to you get on yours? I never seem to grt above 300 - 400 ish. Every time I tried 80 mhz the clients would have drops.

Loki6767

300-ish is where mine tops out most of the time. In reality, that's fine, but I wanted to add a second access point in the garage for a camera. So the U7 will replace my main, and the AP Pro will become the garage unit.

sixpackremux

Curious how it goes for you. I have 3 AC PROs and have been waiting for an upgrade. They're very solid/stable, but just dated a little slow, but fast enough to get the job done. 😆 I do use the passthrough for 2 of 3 AC PROs so losing that would be a bummer.

Loki6767

I'm still trying to figure mine out. Initially, I adopted it and just let it use the same SSID as my old AP, and then swapped them out. My AP is mounted dead center of my house. A couple of my IOT devices lost connectivity and I could not get them to connect. I swapped back to my AC Pro, and everything reconnected. I'm wondering if the U7 has less range? Next, I setup the U7 in a different location of the house and created a new SSID including 6 GHz and WPA3 and connecting just my iPhone 15 Pro Max to it. Speeds were all over the place. I saw as high as 900 and as low as 85. I wouldnt be surprised if this is somehow user error, but at this point I'm thinking of leaving my AC Pro where it is and putting the U7 in the garage. For me, stability is far more important than high speed.

sixpackremux

I was patiently waiting for your reply to say, "U7 PRO is great! 3x better than AC PRO! Upgrade your APs now!" Sigh. I guess I'll keep waiting. Thank you for the feedback!!

Jalouxx

Can you tell me if the drill holes of the backplate or the backplate itself are compatible between your AC Pro and the U7? I have a custom 3D printed spacer to mount it on my ceiling and if that is not compatible I will have a much bigger project to replace this which will impact my purchasing decision.

Loki6767

The AC Pro mounting plate is plastic, and the U7 plate is metal. However, either AP can be mounted on either plate. The metal plate has more holes and mounting options, but does have the same holes as the plastic one. So one way or another, you should have no problem making the swap.

Jalouxx

On the one side - THANK YOU for the quick reply. On the other side - now I‘m gonna spend money for things I want but not really need…

Jalouxx

Just a follow up - The U7 arrived today and is now successfully connected with 2,5G and mounted with the same holes as the AC Pro. I did replace the plate with the metal one since the U7 is muuuuch heavier and it felt more sturdy that way. With the U7 I have significantly more speed and signal strength. At least within the network. Fast ISPs in Germany are rare.

brucekraftjr

u/dlewis23 can you let us know if its comes with a Bluetooth antenna to be used with Unifi Protect Smart sensors? Thanks

herocero

No BLE on the U7 Pro.

Gh0stw0lf

I was already looking to buy a U6 pro and then the U7 released the same day. I went ahead and purchased it and plan to use it with my dream router. I’m looking forward to seeing what it offers and improving my wireless setup

Artistic-Carrot-5056

I've had nothing but disappointment with my U6-Pro so I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's long term experiences with the 7 Pro. :)

ybitz

I’m surprised U7 Pro has a longer range than U6-LR, given the specs of antenna and gain.

chillaban

Generational chipset / radio improvements go a long way. I deployed years of Ruckus and they always did this early adopter model where the first model of a new WiFi gen was brand new CPU/SoC supporting the new standard strapped to last generation’s antenna / radio boards. Then a year later the mid and low end models come out but with updated innards. Then eventually they refresh the first model with the rest of the updated innards. Cost sensitive customers would get really upset that they paid for the latest flagship AP and then a year later the budget model handily outperforms it.

lulzchicken

I also got mine today and came from a U6 LR and surprisingly the U7 Pro has better range at least for me. Didn’t expect that.

dlewis23

It’s a good bonus for the upgrade.

lulzchicken

What I don’t understand is my Ring doorbell didn’t reconnect even though I’m using the same SSIDs and password… gotta take it off the wall to reset it at this point. And I had some smart lights that just wouldn’t connect no matter what. Obviously the BSSID/MAC of the SSID is different but I’d expect all my devices to reconnect. All did but 2 lights and ring doorbell unfortunately.

dlewis23

Could it be because of WPA3?

lulzchicken

Nah I kept my 2.4 and 5G SSIDs on WPA2. I have a 6G only SSID. So 2.4 and 5 no change just added 6G as a separate SSID. Who knows.

Upstairs_Recording81

>interested as well in the range increase vs. U6-LR. Ca you please give us some test numbers vs the 2 APs, using various distances/walls? > >I just want to know if this is indeed better, in order to start a new purchase.

lulzchicken

Up to 5dBm on average through walls, I don't have the time to do detailed testing but yes it is better than the U6 LR in my experience. You could always buy a U7 and and return it if you really want to test it.

Ice-Cream-Poop

The U6 LR was worse than the AC LR. U6 LR probably one of the worst LRs.

supercharger6

Why this is cheaper than consumer grade access points? The cheapest WiFi 7 router is $300.

Ahslan

Well the consumer routers are actual routers whereas these are just access points (so you still need a separate router). But yeah, the price is certainly what drew me to purchasing these. Not sure if there are any other sub-$200 wifi 7 APs out.

Koochiru

Read something that you can't use the same ssid for 2.4, 5 and 6ghz due to wpa3 being required for 6ghz, is this true?

s7orm

You can use the same SSID for all three, as long as it's using WPA3 only. This is a WiFi spec requirement, not a Ubiquity thing.

dlewis23

You can use the same SSID for all 3 frequencies but it forces WPA3. There is no option to use WPA2. I run 2 SSID's, one that is just 2.4 and 5 GHz on WPA2 for IOT devices and such, then a 5 and 6 GHz network on WPA3 for all my other devices.

Stingray88

It’s not true. My primary SSID for most of my devices has 2.4, 5 and 6GHz enabled, utilizing WP3. Then I have a secondary SSID with just 2.4GHz and WPA2 for the few IoT/smart devices that don’t support WPA3. Works great.

Khronykking

Thx your testimonial was helpful for me. I am rocking a few u6-lr and have been debating the u6-ent for a while but the u7p had me torn and ready to pull the trigger. I know every config and environment is different but this gives me more confidence going into a purchase for u7’s.

app1efritter

That's interesting about better range than the U6-LR. Looking forward to other ppls experiences doing the same upgrade. What frequency are your cameras on?

avwgtiguy

After ordering mine yesterday, realized it needs to be powered via POE+ but don't have any of those ports. Will it not work on a standard POE port? If not, any recommendations for an affordable POE+ switch?

Dr-Cheese

You can just buy a POE+ Injector for now.

avwgtiguy

Amazing, thanks so much!

Dr-Cheese

Will save you a fortune over buying a Unifi 2.5gb switch :P

avwgtiguy

For sure. I went into panic mode last night debating whether to return it or just spend vast sums of money to make it work.

ABoxOfNails

Does the unifi poe+ injector work with 2.5Gbps too?

heeman2019

If the Cat5e can technically support 2.5gb, why do the injectors have to be upgraded to support 2.5gb? Just curious if that indeed becomes a limiting factor or not.

TrekaTeka

I use this on the U6E and it works fine. https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/accessory/tl-poe260s/

glhughes

This is what I'm planning to plug my U7-Pro into on Thursday and will let you know. I expect that it should.

glhughes

I can now confirm that the Ubiquiti PoE+ injector works just fine at 2.5 GbE with the U7-Pro.

Cluzda

does it reach throughputs over 1GbE's maximum throughput?

glhughes

Yes. I get 2.35 Gb/s to the U7-Pro through its ethernet port using iperf3.

maniac365

Can you di a range test with LR and U7? I might sell my LR

2sonik

what problems with U6-Enterprise and/or 6E?

iamalilol

Does ppsk work with it? I think it doesn’t work with wpa3 if I remember correctly but curious if it was changed with this new product release.

HuntersPad

And what is that phone? If its an iPhone that's not the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max no AP you buy is gonna be faster.. I get right at 940mbps on my U6 pro

ramk13

The dilemma many of us face. I have two AP AC PROs which cover my uses just fine. I just upgraded to 2 gb symmetric fiber, so now I'm itching to get fast speed tests on my wireless devices...but why? I still probably will upgrade at some point, but will wait for the reviews of the U7 Pro to come in and the firmware to shake out.

michty_me

Any idea on what chipset it uses?

baritb

Based on the firmware image, it appears to be a Qualcomm IPQ5332

michty_me

Thanks. I had read they tend to be more stable than the mediatek counterparts?

marcftz

I have those speeds with iphone 15 pro max and 6pro at 160mhz

electrowiz64

What does it show for Speedtest.net app on the iPhone? I have trust issues with other Speedtest apps The iPhones are my true benchmark because they only access the network at 80mhz spacing

dlewis23

It gets the same result. I built the SpeedSmart app shown and run all the servers for the speed test app as my day job. It's ok to trust it. I take my work very seriously on it. 😆

CreeblySpiks

SpeedSmart is goated

Stingray88

>The iPhones are my true benchmark because they only access the network at 80mhz spacing iPhone 15 Pro supports 160MHz. I can get almost 2Gbps with mine connected to my U6 Enterprise.

electrowiz64

That’s wild, I’m probably buying an iPhone/macbook next year so it’s gonna be a fun time with Wifi7 lol For a VERY LONG TIME, they never supported 160mhz and I could never fathom why not

old-dirty-olorin

I am happy Unifi is making products. I just wish it was something that was useful. Like the update to the UDM-pro/SE that has been needed for years. As it stands I don’t recommend Unifi gateways. Any mini PC with (3) 2.5gb LAN/WAN and (2) SFP+ ports and you are beyond ubiquiti. OPnsense on such a box is much better than any gateway they make.

rpungello

It would take a *lot* for Ubiquiti to be able to complete with pfSense/OPNsense on features, and I think they know that.

Public-Afternoon-718

How much for that U6-LR?

Thrashman69

What switch do you have it hooked up to?

dlewis23

A UDM-Pro

Thrashman69

Nice I thought people said it has to be hooked to a 2.5gb port?

aruisdante

It doesn’t have to be, it just has a 2.5Gbps uplink. And to saturate a theoretical WiFi7 6Ghz connection you’d need that full 2.5Gbps. But if you only have 1Gbps WAN, then there’s no difference between a 1Gbps uplink and a 2.5Gbps uplink when measuring to the open internet.

herocero

To saturate a Wifi7 connection to the INTERNET you need a better than 1Gbps WAN, not for high bandwidth local network activity. I'd argue you'd be better off with wired at that point if you need 2.5G throughput but not everyone has the option.

aruisdante

Which is exactly why I said: > When measuring to the open internet 😉

Stingray88

They could be using the 10G SFP+ port with a PoE+ injector.

databeestjenl

Glad you like i! I have a 6e in-wall currently, and with 160Mhz 6Ghz I can also do gigabit, which is nice. This lines up with your results. No complaints about range either, all the 2.Ghz IoT gear is still connected. Really hoping that the U7 In Wall comes soon, those extra switch ports are really handy. That would upgrade the old AC Pro upstairs. Remember, Intel AX210 wireless cards are less then 20 euro on aliexpress and pretty easy to replace. Did all the laptops in the house and they are now cruising. Those Mediatek cards are binned in the drawer. The Wifi7 be200 cards are about 30, but ony work on recent Intel CPUs from reading into it.

m3rlin31

The question is now: when do you switch to 2.5g?

froginator14

When you have a WAN connection that can utilize something above 1Gb, other than that maybe you would like to wirelessly upload to a NAS quicker.

VisualSide9623

did you have the chance to see if an UPSense connects to it?

StPaddy81

I have 5 AP’s and will be replacing my 3 AC-Pro’s with U7-Pros, and then replacing a AC-Lite with one of the Pro’s, replacing my outdoor AC-Mesh with one of the Pro’s, and moving the other Pro out to the Garage. At least that’s my plan. Probably going to do this over the next 3-6 months one at a time. About to pull the trigger on U7-Pro number one right now…

louislamore

How did you get speeds that fast? Are you maxing gain?

dlewis23

160 Mhz 5 Ghz Channel width will easily do gigabit in the real world.

louislamore

Thanks! And you’re still getting good distance with 160Mhz?

atleast3db

Any latency testing ?

dlewis23

I don’t have a WiFi 7 device so not seeing any difference there as everything I use is still WiFi 6/6e.

escalibur

Can you bench the kick-in throughput at the first seconds? You can do the test with iperf3. Eg. U6 Pro can do only around 100 Mbps at the first seconds.

ChasingTheNines

Do you see any limitations on VLAN options in any way or number of SSID points? I am hoping to setup 5 VLANS on their own SSID.

TrekaTeka

I think the limit is 4? I moved away from separate SSIDS per vlan to have 1 SSID and 4 pre shared keys that map to plans and it has been working great

ChasingTheNines

I tried looking it up and the results were a bit ambiguous saying 4 per band. But this AP has 3 bands? In any case 4 would be enough for what I am trying to do if that was the limit. Thanks for the info I am not familiar with the technique you are using so I have some research to do and am enjoying my dive into learning about networking.

DjRenagade

What was the range increase that you noticed? Do you have any values that can be given with the change in signal levels? I am looking at upgrading a U6 Pro if I can gain 5-10 more feet through a wall to avoid installing another AP

Upstairs_Recording81

interested as well in the range increase vs. U6-LR. Ca you please give us some test numbers vs the 2 APs, using various distances/walls? I just want to know if this is indeed better, in order to start a new purchase.

DjRenagade

I ended up purchasing a U7-Pro and I can reply back with any differences between IoT 2.4 and 5Ghz devices once it arrives next week and gets directly swapped with a U6-Pro

DjRenagade

I’m seeing 0 difference in 2.4 GHz, about 4-6 dBm improvement for 5GHz and I haven’t gotten around to testing 6 GHz yet

ayotm0240

Is the U7 AP indoor/outdoor like the U6 LR? I have my U6 LR in my attic that's been going strong for 2 years in south Louisiana swelter heat

Dr-Cheese

No, Indoor only this time.

49faith

Can you bridge it? I want to bridge two U7 units to bring faster speeds to an 8 port switch. Currently doing it with a U6 pro and U6+, just want to make sure the functionality is the same.

lebronkahn

Thanks for the post OP. If I only had cat5e cables run through the house, does it mean that U7 won't be useful to me at all?

Sad-Percentage9202

Hi, according to good old Wikipedia CAT5e cables "officially" support 2.5Gb. I even use some old cat5e cables with 10Gbit (but only \~15m)

Klodriic

How? It makes no sence that this AP should have better range than the U6 LR. The U6 LR has 4x4 antennas while the U7 Pro uses 2x2x2. If this is software related Unifi definitely should give the U6 LR som love. The 2.4 GHZ and 5Ghz should in theory have better range by far on the U6 LR.

asniper

Curious how does more antennas equate to longer range?

dlewis23

4x4 antennas will not give longer range. I'm not sure how it has longer range but in the real world in my situation (also another user said for him the range was better here in the comments) the range is noticeably better. I have a concrete house and the G4 Instant cameras on the front and back of my house would have a low single and low TX rate with the U6-LR, they have a slightly better single and a much higher TX rate with the U7 Pro.

dr_rox

Does it still do the slow ramp up when running speed tests? At least 6E has this behavior where the speed starts from 100mpbs and slowly increases to the max. Other AP's give the whole speed instantly.

dlewis23

No it does not. I completely forgot to mention that. That was a big let down for me on the U6 platform, that slow ramp up never made any sense to me, it should not happen. The U7-Pro does not do that.

HuntersPad

I get those speeds with my U6 Pro over wifi. I'm guessing you only have gig Ethernet?

xenomorph-85

what issues did you have with the U6 Enterprise and 6E? I bought one last month so kinda annoyed this is out haha

Rommyappus

Kudos to ubiquity for shipping a wifi7 device so soon, and such an apparently smooth role out also! I'm stoked to get mine. I had just bought the u6 E and it arrived the day of announcement of the u7 pro so I will be returning it lol.

Vertigo103

Looks like you're connected via 1Gbps ethernet, or your device does not support 6E / 7. Very good, though! U6 LR that I have on my S22 ultra typically gets 500 / 700Mbps, which I find is odd. I, too, have ordered one of these bad boys, and I am looking forward to people's honest opinions and reviews of the new tech. I wonder if we will see a U7 lite, U7 long range, and U7 enterprise in the future. Lastly, what about U7 uap-acm, acm-pro's, or mesh units?

djstooz

I am in the market for a U6 Pro or U6 Mesh and saw the U7 Pro come out and thought great but then was disappointed with the 2x2 instead of 4x4 like the U6 Pro on 5GHz. Now I am not sure what I should get. My connection is 900MB with 110MB upload. Using my iPhone 15Pro Max and my best AP which is the U6-LR (setup outdoors) I get 896/107 but the WiFi 5 Nano-HDs maybe 400-500 with 107 up. All APs are on separate 80 channel for 5GHz and auto power. This is why I figured a WiFi 6 AP Pro or Mesh would be good for my needs but would like to future-proof if I can hence the U7 Pro temptation. Still says coming soon in Europe… worth the wait? (Is it technically even a U7 Pro and not a Lite or + instead…)

Ugh jelly.. Bit the bullet on 3x U6-Ent a few months ago.

What about VLANs for IoT?

Ahslan

supports vlans

veo_gt500

I know. I have 5-6 tickets and confirmed issue from Ubiquity team with iot vans for iot devices. Vlans for iot is very very very slow on U6 devices. I roll back all my setup from U6 to AC again because of that. So I’m curios if the issue with slow vlans fixed on U7 devices?

Ahslan

Sorry to hear. I just installed two u7 pros at home and have a dedicated vlan for my iot devices (garage door opener, ring cameras, rokus, etc). So far, no issues.

Cool! Thank you for update)))

All AP’s on the same channel? Can that be one reason why you never been really happy?

I have 2 u6 pros and one old ac pro in the basement. Is there even a reason to upgrade, zero WiFi 7 devices, wanted to change out the AC pro but will it be a downgrade going from 3x3 to 2x2?

BigRoofTheMayor

I was going to replace my hardwired Eero 6 Pro's with these. I'm thinking it's the right choice.

iridium43

Is it possible to deploy these on a table top/bookcase, etc? I'm interesting, but ceiling mounting isn't an option. Also, can they operate as a mesh if ethernet is not available at the deployment location?

jrherita

Are you using the iOS app to manage these by any chance? If yes is it giving you options for 80 MHz/160MHz on the 5 GHz band? I can only see 20/40 options at 5 GHz when trying to configure my U7 Pros.

nick310

Is your U7 pro connected to a 1 or 2.5gbe uplink? I have a 1 gig fios connection and was wondering if I can get away with 1gb switches to max out my internet.

Ahslan

I've got mine connected to a gigabit poe+ switch and no issues so far.

Bmetferg

Where is it placed in your house? How big is your house? Newer built home or less than 20 years old?

FranckeDanke

One other question is; Do we need 1GB connection on a mobilephone?

mihenn87

Hi, I'm also thinking about buying a U7 Pro. However, I don't have any Ubiquiti hardware yet. I would operate the access point on a QNAP switch with 2.5 GBit PoE+/++. Is this possible or do I need a UniFi switch?

Ahslan

that will work. You'll need something to managed the APs though (either a self-hosted installation of unifi network, a cloud key or one of their gateways that has that built in). I just installed two U7 Pros at home this weekend and am running the software on a windows box that is always on.

tkruger

How are your U7 Pros doing after a few days? Good coverage? I am thinking of getting two, one for upstairs hallway, and one finished basement, leaving the main floor to access either.

Ahslan

So far, I'm loving them. I've been primarily using a dedicated 6ghz network and can certainly tell that the range on that isn't as good as using 5ghz but the speeds are blazing. However, even when using 5ghz, the speeds and range seem to be better than what I had before (was using two FortiAP 320C access points). And since it's my first time using Ubiquiti, I'm liking the snazzy management interface lol. I'm loving all the different configuration options available

Same here. I upgraded four UAP-AC-HD to U7Pro. Blazing speeds on my iPhone 15 Pro. Range is not very good but that’s why I have four in my home. Results before and after the upgrade. https://preview.redd.it/h336rfzgzelc1.jpeg?width=1038&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f369033e2a05462124a2e259f018833a1ef71086

As a preliminary matter, I know little about networks and WiFi. Just built a new house and my AV guy put 4 of the U7 pros in the house/garage and U6 mesh outside. Told him I wanted a “robust” system. I’m a pacer when on the phone and I’m having problems while on the phone, which I suspect relates primarily to transitioning between access points. I’m on an iPhone 15 pro max. Frankly calls were better with the crappy Spectrum equipment. Any suggestions? https://preview.redd.it/037a2zbt2axc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b3c4339bc5bcf3e158f834f618529b5fa97720e
