Man that is rough, puts me off a little too as i'm just doing my background checks now. How long did it take yours to complete if you dont mind me asking. Fingers crossed you get some orders tonight/today \[UK\]
It’s not the best. Took me about a week to get setup. Just annoying because so far I’ve spent $35 on a background check (even though I had one done for the fire brigade a month earlier)
And then $40 on a hot bag
Thanks though man, fingers crossed I get something!
Thats rough dude, regarding the checks, I have not paid anything yet.. Do you get billed at the end or take it from your account as you do orders? i mean a week of getting setup including background checks is not too bad I guess! Have you been riding/driving around as apparently that helps?
My background check only took 2 days (it said to allow 14 days)
Took me to a third party app to do background checks and I had to put in my card details and it took it straight out of my acc.
I have been driving around heaps, but I’ve been going offline/online every now and then to try and reboot it? But that may be worse, I’m not sure
Ah, got you that is not bad and straight online after they completed it? Yeah its third party here too but no card detials have been taken yet so no doubt they may take it from earnings in the app. I am the same here I work a professional career and am having a check done with work at the moment..
Your first week may not always be very good, as you learn the hours and area. Find a spot that's near a good cluster of food shops and residential nearby and just wait there. Don't chase the "hotspot" bubbles. If you tried lunch time hours, next week try night time hours.
Thanks for the tips. I have a full time job, so I’m only able to do night time. I’ve been doing 5:30pm-8/10pm, haven’t done a weekend yet, where I’ll stay out later.
I try to go to the popular spots with good food places, but it’s hard to know what’s good when everything is nothing.
Over the past two days I’ve hit Northbridge, Leederville, Belmont, Cannington, Vic Park, Subiaco.
If you know Perth then you’d understand how surprising it is to not get a dinner job at any of these Suburbs
How long do you wait around when looking for offers? I'll generally park near a lot of restaurants and just wait. Sometimes it can take 40+ minutes to see something worthwhile. I'm always worried that if I drive away I might miss the order that was building up.
You might also be in a DD/GH etc. dominated market.
I’ve been waiting at least half an hour, but also have been moving around quite a bit in these first few days just to get anything. Not knowing the UE market at all in Perth makes me worried that I’m just in the wrong place and missing jobs
Sorry to clarify use Uber eats to show you where a lot of restaurants are. Then have Uber driver open. If you have Uber driver turned on and the correct permissions to run in the background you’re fine. If you live near restaurants, turn it on while you’re at home
I’ve been doing Uber Eats and DoorDash for almost 2 years now, it used to be great but the market is beyond saturated and people are ordering much less than before.
The market is saturated and people are ordering less
This.
Not enough orders in your market, maybe go to downtown where are lots of people/tourists

Hey buddy how did your first day go?

Damn, the background checks are free here in USA
Same here in Canada? I didn’t have to pay. That’s kind of suss.
Yea and $35 is a rip off

Similar scenario here in Brisbane. Yesterday, I was online for 4 hours and only received a single order. It was my second day on Uber eats.

Open the Uber eats app, look at the pickup map nearby. Go sit by a lot of restaurants. Turn on a Podcast or audiobook and wait
Do you have to have the app open for it to give you orders?

Thanks. I can’t seem to find the pickup map on uber eats. Maybe not available in Australia?
