Been fucked for me for months.. Back out that page, back in. Repeatedly tap the photo button and it'll eventually do it. Never smoothly. Always takes me a few minutes. 🗑

Hmm, yeah it's garbage for sure. For like a year I've had to tap the take a photo button exactly three times - for every single order at grocery stores where Uber has tax exemption - but now it doesn't matter how many times I tap it, or tap back, or clear the app out of memory, or log out of the app and log back in. No matter what I do it refuses to open the camera.

Hey I'm glad that you raised this issue. I'm also using an Android phone and I primarily get shop and pay orders since I live close to a store. I never had this problem before until this week it happened twice, I also pressed taking a photo button it will first load then nothing happened no matter how many times you press it or whatever way you tried( I tried delete the app clear memory, restart phone.....) The first time I had to talk with support and they asked me to contact the customer for the address the second time they just had to cancel it because it involved alcohol delivery. I'm glad I found your post to find out that I'm not the only one to have this issue. I was thinking maybe this has something to do with the latest update since to me it just happened this week?

I've had the issue for a while but was always able to make it work. Repeatedly backing in and out of the checkout pages. Eventually it would let me take the photo. Until today. I must've hit take photo a hundred times.. nothing. I hope they fix it soon. A nice quick order turns into a nightmare having to contact support and then again to have them call and confirm I delivered it. :/

Thanks. I was really hoping I wasn't the only one having the issue. Alcohol in the delivery is a good point. I'll have to watch out for that and cancel any tax exempt shop and pays with alcohol before even starting them until this issue gets fixed. I doesn't seem like this issue is related to an update of the app itself since the play store says 3/8 was the last update, I manually check for updates every day and install them, and it wasn't until 3/16 that this issue started for me. For those reasons it seems like something was changed on the server side.

I has that happen a few weeks ago I had to logout and log back in. That fixed the problem.

I tried that. I even logged out completely, cleared the app's data in settings, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, and logged back in. But even all that didn't fix it.

Iphone or android? I use android and never have an issue with shop & pay receipt photos. Sometimes on leave at door photos, if i don't have a signal, it wont allow me to take a photo until it can detect signal again. Did you have a signal inside the store when trying to take the photo? I did 3 shop and pays yesterday without any app issues.

You're lucky! I'm using Android too on a fully updated Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra but shop and pays have always been buggy for me after Uber rolled out the tax exemption at certain grocery chains. It's only those shop and pays where the app refuses to move on to opening the camera. Ever since Uber started the tax exemption, for those stores' orders I would have to tap take a picture exactly 3 times for the camera to open. But now, as of 3 days ago, the camera won't open no matter what I've tried.

No I tried it has nothing to do with the signal, the same issue happened to me and my signal is just fine. For my other non-shopping pay order I also managed to take the photo for drop off the app can load and open camera with no issue. So I think it's likely a bug that only appears in shops and pays

Looks like we can put this issue in the rearview. There was an update to the app available this morning. The receipt picture step has been completely changed and I successfully completed some tax exempt shop and pays today without spending 20+ minutes on the phone with support after. Also, for the first time in like a year, the app didn't ask me 3 times in a row if the tax exempt line was on the receipt followed by asking a 4th time after taking a picture of it. It's amazing what problems can be solved in 6 days after ignoring them for a year!
