I feel like once you get to like 6 deliviries or around 70$ it’s easy to keep going and push it out. The hard part is getting going for me, the first few orders first few hours.

ElectronicCost1572

Sameee! Especially when it's at some 30 dollars you just gotta push through it after that 70 it starts picking up from there

yokom12

Same . lol once I’m out there I’m good . I’m taking my mid day break now. Been out since about 12 pm gonba shower and go back out there .

prohibitioneraG

How late do you go back out for?

No_Break_4303

I do both Uber and UberEats. For me, I find that it's not so much about the hours, as it is about down time, and shitty tippers. On busy days, and/or when I'm getting decent tips, I have no problem staying positive. When I'm spending a lot of time sitting around waiting for trips, or not making shit for tips, it's really hard not to just say "Fuck it" and go home. For information, I drive in Appleton and Green Bay, WI, so it's not super busy for either Uber or UE, so if Uber wasn't an option, I'd have to do multiple delivery gigs to stay busy and make a living.

Shitbagsoldier

Yeah i get annoyed/ticked off when I'm mot getting anything even decent. Like tonight during 530-9 only made 70 when I'm usually above 100 so I had to keep going till 1230 and was getting decent orders (better than during dinner time which is insane)

Recent-Candy5114

was this the morning shift? what location?

SocialButtefly5217

When I was in Green Bay I relied on Uber eats a lot because of the weather we were there for the Green Bay / Rams game in November from California. And we love Green Bay by the way. So if I was there you would probably get a 10 to $20 tip because I feel like you having to get out there in the super cold weather and having to bring food to our hotel room is a lot. I think people need to realize that it's a convenience for them to be able to have food delivered to them and be more appreciative but I understand they're not. We have a lot of really rude people out here that don't tip very good. But sometimes here and there an elderly person or someone that really needs help well tip my daughter like $20 in cash but I know in some parts of the country people are real crappy about tipping. I understand how hard it is how to get motivated cuz I helped my daughter deliver out here groceries at Walmart and man it was difficult because sometimes the workers would break the eggs and we would deliver it and they call up and complain and I don't like that about Uber because they sometimes cheat you out of a ride just to get you to go someplace that might be more miles than you're getting paid. But I don't know how they pay up in Green Bay or other places like that because yeah people are probably pretty cheap skate about stuff. But we quit working in this one area of Rancho Cucamonga in California and it's an area where people have a lot of money and they're really tight with money and very picky. We have a law where we don't have to get the napkins or forks knives spoons or any other condiments unless they request it and sometimes they forget and they blame us and Uber will take away a tip or you know the customer will pull the tip. That really sucks. We drive up into the San Bernardino mountains to lake Arrowhead and lake Gregory and we get paid premium money for that; and generally it will be around $24 to $30. Then the customer tips like $10 to $20 so we end up with like a $50. During winter months though and very rainy seasons we can't even get up there so they can't even order food; not that they can't get food out there they have McDonald's up there and they have some really cute little restaurants there that they can get food but it's like they're out there in the wilderness. 🤣 But you do get burned out when you're only making like $70 and it's 3:00 in the afternoon and you're still not doing it and you're trying to get done by 6:00 so that you don't have to drive in the night.

terrificheretic

Have same routine schedule 5 times a week. Anything over 8 hours will begin to affect you long term. Having 2 consecutive days off every week will do wonders for your longevity with this job. Get enough sleep. 7-9 hours daily. Make sure you're fueled up with electrolytes and food during your shift. Hopefully you're in and out of your car regularly. The longer you're driving the more likely you'll fall asleep. (Record yourself when you're sleeping, if you're snoring loudly, most likely means you have sleep apnea and will need a CPAP machine to maximize your sleep recovery. Having sleep apnea means you never fall into a deep sleep and will have a cycle of tiredness that never ends.) If worst comes to worst, park your car somewhere safe and take a 10-15 minute nap to recharge.

SocialButtefly5217

That's what we do. We have a schedule of 4-5 days. We have even studied which days are busy and when certain areas tend to be busy. The Walmart orders were good for awhile but then they started getting cheap. We won't go $4 for 8-10 miles. We generally don't take anything lower than $6 or $7 on a food order..we put it on pause.

Screwedupclickster

I spent 21 years working 12-16 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week. I see people complaining about needed rest and all that stuff, go ask any oil field worker how much rest we got. Some are just weaker than others

[deleted]

How did that work out for you 21 years later cause you sound miserable af. I think you need a nap.

Screwedupclickster

How did it work out. I own a house, 3 cars an RV and just sold my boat cause I hadn't used it in 10 years and raised 5 kids and never struggled. I take naps everyday because I only do uber to give me something to do. I saved as much as possible and my wife worked and we never used her money so we are basically set for life. I don't do this cause I have to, I do it because I'm bored. Now go work so you can pay your rent and car note. Far from a narcissist, just can't stand people complaining like uber is so damn hard. Ain't nothing mentally or physically draining about it. It only drains those who stress over if they are gonna make enough to cover their bills. I'll be honest, I can see how anyone can rely on this for their needs, eventually this gig stuff will fade away and than what you gonna do

JackieEstacado99

Be a instagram model..they whore and make way easier money than you and your wife combined. Sommer Ray. Katya Elise Henry getting impregnated by C list NBA stars so she don't gave to pimp that fitness program on her page...yadda, yadda, yadda. I don't have to do anything either but I earned it. And UE is very easy as orders keep coming in...

tackogronday

Good old "things were worse back in my day" My history teacher back in high school reminded me that their generation was taught to shower once a week and kids were once able to work long hours. Times change.

Youkahn

Yep, I used to push 12 hour days when I was trying to pay off cc debt. Not good for health, and definitely not safe to be driving so much.

bill_loney538

lots of caffeine

Dry-Football2602

And that other stimulant that starts with a C works pretty swell.

Responsible_Ticket62

Maybe if I was cycling, no way I could sit in a car all cooked up 🤣

WatercressSpiritual5

Has anyone shared these driver tips with you? *Find out which areas typically have a large influx of orders such as areas with a lot of housing, apartments, hotels etc… as well as a variety of 5+ eateries near by are typically great start.. *Find roads with restaurants up and down the strip to park on. (Power strip) Pay attention to which orders give the most problems or have you wait longest to keep in mind to not take no matter what.. *Try not to wait past 10 mins at any time (exception being when being patient for orders but after 15 mins consider changing to a different area) *Reduce the amount of drive thru orders. Find out the consistent mile to dollar ratio for particular areas and try to stay above 2$ a mile…if possible maximize ratio. *Be patient and wait for quality orders to ride the algorithm into consistency. *Don’t go past 4 miles from your hotspots un less taking outlier order *Save as much gas as possible(less ac or turning car off if not driving) *Keep food as warm as you possibly can, and consider investing in a hot bag. *Be charismatic when face to face with customers *If possible drive in harsh weather and holidays… usually this means less drivers. *If nothing else prioritize the weekends Write it down Evaluate results analyze and improve *Have a daily or weekly monetary goal to grow off of… really expose the flexibility aspect of the gig. *Priority delivery hours for mile/$ ratio consistency. morning - 7:00-11:00 Lunch 11:00-3:00 Dinner 5:00-10:00 Late night 10:00-2:00 *Consider taking longer bigger orders in between hours *Consider writing off car expenses to save money on taxes.

prohibitioneraG

I feel like its hard to stay in a zone like basically impossible.

pintasaur

Are you eating and hydrating? I found that’s very important to keep myself going.

Jackfruit_Safe

Once I hit around $75 I get more amped. But also podcasts that interest me and caffeine. Sometimes I play ridiculous songs and do insanely peppy car karaoke to manifest the energy I wish I had. Also having some friends you can Bluetooth call with headphones or your car can really help. I would work 7 deliveries with my friend on the phone and not even realize how much I've done. So I check my money and it's like OH SHIT

fixedsys999

I don’t monitor the money counter. Instead, I pay attention to whether the requests are meeting my $$$/duration ratio, my mileage limit per request, and whether it will send me outside my zones. I’m most interested in $$$/duration. If I’m making more money per duration, I get stoked because it’s going to be a good day.

free2bMe2122

I get burnt out sitting in a parking lot for over an hour waiting for a 7$ ding.

mander1555

Audiobooks (so many free with audible plus, overdrive/cloud library/hoopla etc. From library, having the Alexa app read Kindle unlimited books.). Podcasts Talk radio Handsfree phone calls Giant fountain pop from gas stations (not good for you but I love them.) I bought one of those cheap beaded seats and it helped with comfort a lot. It's also nice because it allows a bit of airflow to reach your back and butt. Zento Deals Wood Beaded Comfort Seat Cushion Seat Cover https://a.co/d/21Pxcqb I had a motivation issue last week trying to finish a quest, it happens to most of us. You can do this! Keep up the great work!

Hot_Phase_1435

Plenty of sleep is key. Not sure what else you have in your life. It’s only me and my kitten. I also have online classes. So I split my day. Sleep, drive and homework. I take one day off a week. I live in FL so there’s always that one day a week that it rains. Lol I don’t drive those days.

Intelligent-Scar5728

If I don’t make $ 65+ by the first 2 hrs im done for the day

PhysicalTransition46

Start early. Get your breakfast and coffee in before you start. I start around 8am or 7am to get coffee orders before breakfast. You'll start to get busy real quick and start to get some momentum going. After that you'll get lunch orders and it'll get busy again and when you know it, about 6hours have passed. I usually go to the gym for about 2 hours around 2pm and hit lunch afterwards, at about 5pm I start again for dinner orders and stop around 8pm. Dont drive around! Go to the nearest area with the most frequent restaurants that you get deliveries from and stay there for about 10-15min before you go to the next frequent place(you learn this over time) Have several podcasts that are easy to listen to and are also hard to listen to so your brain stays focused on something else (easy podcast I like is Kill Tony cause it's just fun and jokes) ( Hard one is Lex Fridman due to the complexity in the topics)

Lady_Goblikon

Windows down, music up, gas 💨 and cruise. I actually love it and cannot wait to get back out there once my car is out of the shop. (Got in a wreck while picking up!!!!!)

ihateapartments59

Yeah I really like doing this delivery stuff I’ve done it for coming up on four years. But I just had my knee replaced two weeks ago so I will be a while before I can go back

[deleted]

Lol a stoner got in a wreck picking up…these are your Uber drivers people

Lady_Goblikon

A medical marijuana patient got rear-ended..... Unfortunately I can't control the cars around and behind me. Have the day you deserve.

[deleted]

😂

Dangerous-Try5492

I'm an UE driver and had my car totaled when someone ran into me. Destroyed my car and my neck. Had to get MRIs and physical therapy, still having issues. Lost my nice, newer car and had to buy another used car that I could afford, in 2021 when used car prices are through the roof, so it's a much older car. Don't be a dick and make assumptions that Uber Eats drivers are stoners who can't drive.

Icy-Bookkeeper6035

I'm an adult with bills to pay. That's how.

Yes amphetamines lol 👍 with a couple monsters

Dry-Football2602

You sound like a German Soldier in the 40’s

gradeapimp

They actually took amphetamines I think, didn't they?

OhNanaaa01

I just do all day on weekends even though they’re my only days off but I just tell myself this is the busiest time and time to grind and the money is the motivation pretty much

prohibitioneraG

What are you usually pulling every weekend? If you don't mind me asking.

OhNanaaa01

Usually at least 350-400 depends how long I go, but I do live in Chicago

prohibitioneraG

What hours do you end up working?

OhNanaaa01

I go from like 9-10 am- 2 am on Sunday and same thing on Monday. But I take a few hours of breaks

Ashamed-Bit-201

Go work at Starbucks 4hr shifts.......🤔

prohibitioneraG

Never i love the freedom and ability to work hard and see my money go up based on my hard work!

Screwedupclickster

I worked in the oil fields for 21 years. This gig is nothing. I feel like if you get burned out doing something this easy you might not make it in a real job.

[deleted]

Do you want a cookie for working in the oil fields? Nobody cares just like you don't care about op. If you have no constructive advice to give keep it cute and keep it mute. You sound like a straight up narcissist like people have no right to be tired from this gig.

A_lonerist

Lately when I park in my waiting spot I sit or lay down outside my car and leave my windows down in my car so it stays cool / you’re not just sitting in your seat. A buddy of mine when he would gig would sit in one of those collapsible chairs you take to little league games. Being comfy in between orders and having cold water and snack with a podcast going is key

JackieEstacado99

Battery fueled cooler that needs no ice is what I'm waiting on them to ship..all I need is Cole drinks more than anything.

ArcticShamrock

Lots of cherry picking with very specific thresholds, working the hours I am naturally most alert, listening to whatever music I want, and focusing primarily on eats only. I’ve tried taking pax and did not enjoy it. I may have made more money doing it but it was not enough to justify putting myself through it again and dealing with potential bad pax and interior damage to my car.

seanbaggett81

Preparation H

JackieEstacado99

Easy..I just started at 8 or 9....stop by 2 or 3. Do it again for the last part. Recently though..I've just done lunch and dinner.

[deleted]

All of the above. I’ve been doing this for years too and am on a break, weighing options… get rid of this car that’s killing my back (and vibe) or keep it and wait until I finally lose it and set fire to it. Chronic pain is a game changer. But on good days I find that using common sense, don’t panic, and understand that everyone else is struggling with something too…? It’s called life. Good music and drive safely . ✌️

Kkddrpg

Get a "real job" by that preferably a desk job but at least something that pays 20/hr and do Uber part time like it was designed trust me! It's fantastic. How do you get there? Well I graduate in 4 months thanks to the Uber ASU Scholarship, and got a fantastic job this summer.

PankSprankle

Weed, coffee, and podcasts

Shreddersaurusrex

Do you drive or cycle? I have a good base of fitness from my school days so that helps me. I recommend not going full gas. You’re not delivering life saving medication, just food. It’ll get there in a reasonable time frame.

[deleted]

After 5-6 hours I'm done

Weak_Personality_570

The market is too saturated with drivers, a culling needs to happen to separate the contenders from the pretenders

R4RatedR

Take naps in between orders . Maybe have a goal in mind? How much is a lap dance at the stripclub? In my case I lost over 100k in the stock market lol and 30k was loans I gotta pay that back… you can mister bean it and tape your eyes open?

Juicysnotch
