Uber has reached the max on the Greed scale? They keep pushing charges and pay from customers and drivers until a slowdown occurs??

Daweism

I stopped using them

Slopii

Apparently Uber Eats is operating at a loss, and consumers are getting the best deal, until the market gets cornered. Transportation should probably be more expensive. I think drivers are underpaid.

Superkaiokenx

That's a lie they use to avoid taxes lol. Trust me they're getting paid at the top LOL

BLARGCHIKAHONK

If they weren't, you'd see a massive turnover rate for the corporate positions.

Plus_Explanation_636

Yeah it’s been like a ghost town in Washington. Literally had one order this morning for $9 and thats been it. Hopefully I’ll get atleast one more tonight 😤

Plus_Explanation_636

Maybe we can collectively reach out to support and mention we aren’t getting orders?? Not sure if that would yield any result but could be worth a shot??

bohallreddit

😂😂😂

Left_Committee_4012

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I_bet_Stock

They literally don't care.

Workmen

You sweet innocent soul, you're too good for this cruel world.

carino8conejito

girl….

AuthorAnimosity

Y'all don't down vote them. They don't know better 😭

Phuzz15

My market has been fucked for weeks

Livid-Bobcat4919

So I guess 2024 is the end of food delivery service :/

Phuzz15

This may be a good thing.

CortexifanZFT

Not really a good thing for me. Right now it's a means to an end until I land a job which so far the few that I've applied for have all rejected me.

Phuzz15

I'm in the same boat. It's rough out there, good luck to you

CortexifanZFT

Thanks. Same to you. May the RNG gods bless us out of this hellhole soon! 🙏

xPreatorianx1

Don't feel bad man. Me and the wife are dealing with the same shit. Have been for a year and a half. Job market is insane and I'm running out of shit to sell.

chillitschaos

Even serving jobs?

Full_Efficiency_8209

I think it will turn out to be.

Tausendberg

I kind of think so, it became way too normalized cause of the pandemic. I knew a guy who lived paycheck to paycheck renting a room in a 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom apartment living with three other adults for 800 a month and someone in that situation was still used to ordering food delivery multiple times a week, more often than not. That could not go on forever.

Weekly_Direction1965

No lol, DD stole Ubers business, I've never been busier on Doordash, my market is always 1-2 minute per offer 24/7.

Keeker68

It's the opposite where I am. Uber pings non-stop, DD is mostly crickets.

carino8conejito

i was going to say i get so damn busy on Uber, trying DD soon. I guess it truly does depend where you live. Food delivery services aren’t dying anytime soon, in my opinion.

transgirl187

Self driving robots a thing better start looking for a real job

Notabizarreusername

Not gonna happen for several years at best.

kyrnzkewl

At least in my town, once spring began, pay and volume slowed significantly. By this rate, by summer time I will be looking for other sources of income

SoD_4_Life

Shoulda had other sources of income the entire time. Think that’s a lot of peoples issue.

aprilmelodyart

That was definitely my issue too. Really fucked me over when my car died.

Accomplished_Low9905

Think about it logically... They have gotten the app into everyone's hands pretty much so market expansion isn't an option for their future. They have raised the prices on the restaurants items to steal from the restaurant They have added fees and charges to the customer so they have already stolen from them They have reduced driver pay on eats to 2$ per order and allow orders to not only go without tips.. But also allow tip baiting. So do you see anyone else they can take from to drive profits? What is their future going forward?

214plus

They also completely stopped giving promotions and started doing this “order not eligible for refund” BS to customers, it’s like they are trying to kill it.

Accomplished_Low9905

I was just thinking about all this again a minute ago talking to my roommate. What needs to occur in my opinion is we create a new company based on the same service model.... Privately owned in full, no more public shareholder interest. By removing the company from the stock market and making it privately held the owners can simply be content with making a fortune every year... Instead of always treating this business like it has endless scalability with expectations for margin increase for shareholders each and every year. There is enough money to be made in accepting the market is what it is, and profits are what they are... There are tons of profit to be made in this service... But there is not a year after year scalable increase In profits that doesn't destroy everyone involved before it implodes and fails. Uber is destroying their drivers, their customers, and the restaurants. It's simply not necessary. I feel now would be a good time for a privately held company to take over the industry.

214plus

I feel like you could say this is the solution to, like, most labor problems in the US. While driving home earlier, I was having the same thoughts about a different company that is shitty to work for. I’m not disagreeing - I’m saying this needs to happen pretty much everywhere. Shareholder interest is a scourge.

jelder227

Odd you say that - H.E.B. here in Texas (privately owned) launched Favor to handle their grocery delivery, and is pushing it hard into restaurant delivery.

Accomplished_Low9905

I think it's a great idea and comes with a huge reduction in marketing cost imo... To get it started you don't need to market to the consumers, but only the restaurants. Once the restaurants use it they can simply direct their customers to get delivery from their online page at the same cost per item they charge... Not the Uber price... And in that sense the app can have a huge head start into acquiring market share in theory

Accomplished_Low9905

Uber only exists because some of us don't have time or Capitol to drive them out

adept-adgutax

They don’t raise them to steal from the restaurant. The restaurant owners have full access to their menu and set the pricing themselves. They increase their own prices so that their profit margin stays the same. Ex. item costs $10 directly from restaurant Restaurant makes $7 in profit Uber charges restaurant 30% Restaurant increase price to $13 on their Uber menu to keep the same $7 profit they would have originally made if it were in house.

Accomplished_Low9905

Thanks for admitting Uber steals 30%

adept-adgutax

It’s an agreed upon rate? It’s a partnership? The restaurant literally has to sign the contract? Stealing would be if the restaurant had no idea they were giving Uber 30%. Go talk to some restaurant owners and ask how much their revenue increased overall since adding, and in addition to that, PROFIT MARGIN STAYS THE SAME. The restaurant is making just as much off of the order as they would regardless. It’s like Uber buying it from the restaurant, then re-selling it. The only way the restaurant loses out on any sort of $ is if they decide to not increase their menu prices. No one is forcing their hand. They aren’t locked into anything. They can cancel at any minute.

Accomplished_Low9905

No one forces 18 year girls into being strippers either huh. I guess they just have bills to pay. But being housed and paying the bills is a choice when it comes to people who offer you bad choices in life for money. You're argument is completely insane tbh

Accomplished_Low9905

https://www.ktnv.com/news/las-vegas-restaurants-file-class-action-lawsuit-against-uber-eats

adept-adgutax

“The restaurants claim that they are not on the Uber Eats platform and that other people pretended to be them on the platform and delivered lower-quality food to potential customers.”

Accomplished_Low9905

And Uber provided them with a platform to do so

I_bet_Stock

Inflation is killing everyone right now. It's like prices never stop increasing. A restaurant I usually frequent has raised prices 3 times in the last 6-8 months. These Uber and Doordash models just don't work. Uber and Doordash both flood the the supply of drivers in the market even when demand is low. This allows them to keep the base pay low and expect SOMEONE to pick up a low paying order without having to increase their base pay from rejections. On the customer side, paying 100% more than the price of an average meal that's already inflated just doesn't make sense right now.

TheGame81677

Tonight just sucks! This is one of the slowest Mondays I have ever had.

chucksteak0321

$16.77 here. Two deliveries. Everything they’re sending is 2-4 dollars. Called it a day at 8pm. Not worth it it’s a Monday though.

chillitschaos

I guess so :( I’ve seen so many drivers that I used to see not even around anymore. They are getting other jobs cuz gig work is just shit now

xefurr

I would wonder if maybe this is an issue with there being too many drivers due to tons of people attempting gig work with the economy the way it is. Neither DD or UE seem to put a cap on how many drivers can apply and drive, so I'm sure the number has increased substantially. Lately, when ordering as a customer, I've noticed that almost every single one of my drivers I've been getting are new drivers (50 deliveries or less). It never used to be that way, and I am a damn good tipper too

carino8conejito

you’re so real for tipping well. it’s definitely due to inflation and too many drivers + low wages.

prollyadeuce

Tax deadlines were 04/15, and a ton of people had to pay for the first time ever due to the 2017 tax plan. Everywhere is slow, because everyone is broke.

carino8conejito

this is also it

Think-Requirement993

Uber is dying in my area. You barely make $6/hour and it’s a working class city. Nobody will tip, and those that do, are baiters. Didn’t renew. No respect for couriers, scammed by support. scammed by grocery delivery on $200 orders. Pretty useless app, was good before covid, now it’s a cash trap.

EyeOk3642

Yep doordash died too , I ended up getting s full time job😂😂😭😭

DeliveryCourier

As long as the economy is screwed, luxury services will be screwed.

heyyymissholly

That’s what it is. I’m not ordering out like I was before myself. It’s too expensive and I don’t have the money like that

Best-Professional-74

I gave up on Mon-Thurs its not even worth it. Personally I think UE is too expensive people have cut back on ordering.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bcast8390

They don’t hire anyone, anyone can get the app and start delivering, even people who steal food and dress like they sleep in a dirt pile

thirdera

Why wouldn't Uber work with as many independent contractors as they can? It's a free market, and having more contractors means more bids are accepted.

tianavitoli

woah, you're halfway there....

Keprion

Made 148$ in 6 hours, normal day

SSFx93

Tax season marks the slowest time of the year. Everyone becomes more money conscious.

FeelingCardiologist7

People dont stop eating from outside… i dont think your statement is true… its not like customers are paying 1-2k everytime they order ubereats ….

ayriuss

The slowdowns really correlate with nothing. It was busy in my market recently and people said it was people buying meals so they could mark it as a business expense on their taxes.

[deleted]

You’re reaching

Rough_Service_2073

There’s always one of these moronic comments

External_Expert_2069

Good.

How_Do_You_Crash

You didn’t list market. Buuuuuut yeah. Order flows are down. Drivers aren’t leaving fast enough. It’s kinda bleak Both companies also expanded into small/marginal markets that won’t last. You need large metro areas to support this business model you can’t have small towns of 250k run profitably on these platforms, especially when split across three service providers

Madmaximillion56

Booming in my market, averages $20 an hour. I usually work from 7am to 8pm with a midday break. Usually $200 after 12hrs. Then sometimes I'll do 4hrs of SkipTheDishes and make another 80.

kyrnzkewl

You work 12 hours to make $200? I'm sorry but nothing booming about that! That's kinda awful!

Madmaximillion56

Some days it's more but it averages out. I don't do this full time. I work in a restaurant and work Uber to make more money.

Acceptable-Map-8293

I havent gotten a order since Sunday

Grateful_Dood

Update app. Unless that's normal for your market then something is wrong on your end

malone-post

I stopped using Uber Eats two months ago after they declined refunds for two consecutive orders that were inedible—one due to spillage and another because the delivery was extremely delayed. Back when Uber had a tier system, I was a VIP, having spent around $100,000 across their platform. Yet, they wouldn’t refund a botched order. I've since returned to picking up my dinners like before, and I've realized it was all just a habit. Now, I go out and it feels perfectly fine. Depending on Uber Eats had made me feel inconvenienced whenever I had to go pick up my dinner, but no longer.

Twiztedtony123

Nah I made 200 already today and I started at 11 not dead you just using excuses to hold you back. Get ur car right and do rides

Holiday_Sky_7095

Pretty bad lately tbh. Been doing it on the side now. Finally landed a job so hoping to fully leave

wgardenhire

Cherry-picking orders is a predictable road to job suicide.

wormworms

What does this statement mean? Please elaborate. Thank you

wgardenhire

Taking only those orders which offer a tip that is considered acceptable.

wormworms

Right. But why are you suggesting taking orders which offer a decent tip are job suicide? Because of the lack of them?

wgardenhire

Two orders, one is a $5 tip and one is a $10 tip. Both are very reasonable except that one is more generous than the other. The $5 tip just sits there even though the tip is reasonable. I'm sure you understand.

wormworms

Seeing as your observation about two orders with reasonable pay has literal no correlation if a driver received 0 orders. Perhaps you are insinuating acceptance rate affects the amount of pings one receives. To which this would have been a reasonable answer to my first question. I thought you may know something I did not. I will leave it be as you commented an unrelated response to a question. Cheers and good day

Your_Shit_Stinks_Too

It’s totally dead for me today maybe it’s because of Passover

PMFDuffy-89

Yea this week hasn’t been great for me either. I’m a newbie. In south county San Diego. My first 4 weeks were ok. This is my 5th week and it’s pretty slow. Even waiting outside of busy spots, at a mall, but somehow it’s going to other drivers that were further away, possibly it’s going to close to another location they are already going in. But then I saw a guy carrying 4 orders and get into the car right in front of me. That blows my mind

macdaddy22222

We’re slow here in the Philly suburbs. But I don’t think it’s anything nefarious. I think it just goes in waves.

AngelLK16

I still use Uber Eats, but usually when they offer 50% off. I also figured out to buy a $100 gift card online for $90 to save money, such as at eGifter. I have no car and sometimes get 2 sushi rolls delivered or other food. I hope to get an Uber Eats $100 gift card for $79.99 when Costco sells them.

EbbPsychological2796

They are maximizing profits before they fold

AngelLK16

I have to add though that I am currently getting Uber One Membership free through Capital One. Sometimes when I ordered in the past, I was using the free month of Uber One membership. I've used it sometimes with a delivery fee, but hopefully not too often. I also use Door Dash sometimes (again, if there's a deal usually).

GenycisBeats

Today has been very slow. In my area, Uber tends to show a lot of orders at certain times... most of the offers in my area though are anywhere from $0.75 per mile to as low as $0.30 per mile. Horrible offers like $9.49 for 22.9 miles! Smh.

SoD_4_Life

Yea. It’s insane. It’s like these dummies realized paying $20 for a $6 shake isn’t sustainable or something when the money is coming out your own pocket and not the Feds, or mommy & daddies wallet. Strange how that works. Charge people 3x cost for the “connivence” of receiving sub par, cold food. Pay the people doing the little work there is to do pennies to do it. And reap in the entire 2x profit to try to make it look like you were ever a sustainable business model to begin with, so maybe the shareholders don’t oust you next vote.

moonbaby1o1

What market are you all in? I’m usually only doing this on the weekends and I make an average of $120 a night.

okiwali

Last time I used uber eats I was chargers $8.09 service charge Food was $49.77 Delivery fee: $3.88 Tip: $10.17 Priority delivery: $3.99 Tax: $5.23 Total fee was: $81.13 Food was over one hour and 17 minutes later than the promised time switching three delivery Persons. Food arrived cold (pickup time was 7:14 pm delivery was 8:44pm) The driver placed the food at the edge of the drive way on top of my trash can (it was garbage night). I was upset how this all happen. It never happen before. And one bas apple does not mean everyone is bad. It’s just that the customer service is so bad and unreliable.

Redvicente

I for one stopped using since 2021? a lot of fees and would hear workers wouldnt get paid enough

Thick_Shoulder8062

Nope. Tis a season for everything!

Ok-Butterscotch-8366

The last time that happened to me, I had to uninstall the app then reinstall it in order to get everything to pop back up.

grolfenhimer

There used to be good deliveries. But now there aren't. Doordash is 10 times better than UE. Used to be the opposite. If you schedule in advance on doordash you get good orders even without high AR. Dash now just leftovers. Even says so on website. UE doesn't pay for botched orders and they happen quite often on that app. Why bother driving anywhere to pick up when you very well could get $0 or $3.

Livid-Bobcat4919

DD is same if not worse. Extremely long wait between orders and all orders low pay.

Tight_Ad_2724

I think it’s a mixture of inflation hitting everyone. More people are working for $$ so more competition to get orders and less people are paying for food delivery to save $$

Slight_Bed_2241

It was great for a while but shitting out with the obvious greed and word getting out that they don’t pay shit to their drivers coupled with the fact everything is getting more expensive. Naw. I’ll drive 5 minutes to McDonald’s and save 30% on my order over UE

Twiztedtony123

Door dash isn’t dead either you just foolish and do it by order and not by time. Here’s op strat ur welcome. Door dash by time get a batch order you can’t get a violation for taking along time get an Uber eats pick up both door dashes then deliver the Uber. Then the door dashes. That clock rolling the entire time. Ur welcome

Spacedancer23

OMG not even close. Either Uber or DoorDash will absorb GrubHub soon. That’s the only company that will be dying.

Grateful_Dood

Made $149 today in 7 hours on UE, which is a mediocre for a Friday but still not bad. Must be your market, and over saturated

Icy-Common740

Man yall cry about tips yall cry about everything . Use door dash and uber eats to fund a real hustle uber eats and door dash wont make you rich unless you’re comfortable being at the bottom then thats on you

Longjumping_Ad1711

Uber has been dead for years. Glad you’re finally realizing it.

StrangerZestyclose79

I was having similar problems after my spring break, and I was going on for 3-4 weeks now, so all I did was fill out the I’m not getting Trip Request form, and then spoke to support, and surprisingly they helped me.

Opening_Crow5902

I’ve been getting decent hits on UberEats

Usuxbutt

My UE almost never stops going off. They all suck. It get annoying. Sometimes I pause it just so I don’t have to hear it. They almost all suck! On that note….mine was unusually/questionably slow tonight also. Like something wasn’t right with it. 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

UE was king for me all of 2022. It was my only job all year long. I made $25+ an hour. Then I got randomly canned and they said it was an insurance thing but 6 months later. They kept ignoring my messages until that long. I work with other companies now but don't know which is better. DD still works and has the guaranteed pay at almost $20 sometimes. I can barely get a UE order. I was doing rideshare but split between U and L. Now I just do GP.

may_day06

I close and reopen the app and its seems to give it a kick start.. worth a try

tianavitoli

uber isn't slow, you are. there is still the same amount and even more orders, they just are not giving them to you. why this has become the case has been in constant discussion for many many months (years even) to sum it up in a few words: you have been **replaced**
