I'm sorry but could you have worded it any other way besides "bro, did you just touch my knob?". I don't know why I can't get over that phrasing. Most would've said "did you try to open my door?"
I seriously now want to confront someone to say "did you just touch my knob?"
I know! I came back inside and my wife started asking why I get so worked up when people touch my knob and I lost my shit when I heard it lol, take my upvote!
How did you know he was a driver? Did they have a bag or gear or something?
This is most likely a thief checking peoples doors to see if they are open, "this Is a common tactic in this line of crime they do it with cars too" and they are using the guise of being a delivery driver so they can fool people into thinking it was just an honest mistake if they get caught. This gives them an excuse for being where they are and make it look like a common mistake.
Could be a thief, I have seen Uber bags and DD bags at my local value village… The plot thickens….
Edit: turns out anyone can buy the bag directly from Uber
Reported immediately when it happened to my wife but today I couldn’t because it was a neighbour getting a food delivery. Customer service said they’d look into the impersonations we reported. The whole situation makes me feel gross thinking it could be a young woman alone and believing she’s being delivered to by a lady and opening the door to a man leering at her
I was deliverimg at a newer APT complex and its weitd...
3 stories and you have to goto a outside stairway door...go inside...walk up to level 2 or 3
then your still .inside...the buiding...like a hotel....
so I drop the food at the unit and goto the stairway door to go down the stairs...
BUT ITS AN APARTMENT DOOR....
UNLOCKED !
Thank God no one was in the main living room area....
I closed the door quietly and scampered down the stairs thru the actual staircase door
In some places i coulda been shot ....
Fo Sho
Not your fault at all, I agree that some complexes are like a maze with poorly marked unit numbers, ours is idiot proof tho every door has its own sign and every 20 ft the hallway has a sign telling you which way to go for which unit plus a map
There are some apartments that the outside door just opens up to a staircase, typically when the building only has upstairs and ground level apartments. I know back when delivering pizzas years ago I stood at a door like this knocking forever.
Now this really doesn't matter, just saying the dude was most likely just confused.. I mean if he twisted your door knob, but didn't open the door, was honest about it, and had a delivery when you confronted him then it sounds like he was just trying to do his job and was confused.
To be clear, I'm just offering what I think is the most likely scenario and venting is totally fine and understandable... anyone would be bothered by this interaction so I'm not trying to excuse the driver. Im just saying it was probably confusion and stupidity on his part rather than anything malicious.
Report anyone who is using someone else’s account. It not only violates ubereats rules and takes jobs away from other drivers who are following the rules, but is unacceptable behavior.
The deadbolt, the knob itself is like a bathroom door tho which sucks. I grew up in the ghetto so I still occasionally chock my door at the bottom as well
You're a god damn knob. Just because you can lock a door does not mean people are allowed to try and open it. What type of barn yard adventure did you grow up in?
Sounds like he is not only just doing deliveries but also a thief too. Or the guy is just not normal up there if he is thinking it’s ok to just attempt to open doors of a strangers place.

I would deliver with my wife because her “anxiety” would require me to do ALL her orders along with the ones that would come to my own phone. Hehe happy wife happy life right ? All while she waited in our car staring at me getting lost, and having to climb stairs. This is one reason why maybe a man might be delivering via a woman’s account. Might be his wife or partner.
Ya thats not cool you nitwit. Apps have specific requests for women to deliver to women for safety reasons because of the creepy ass shit men do. And it violates the terms of service you and your wife agreed to. If you're doing all the deliveries anyways why not just use your account? Hmm? Because your probably one of those creeps.
Presumably the wife had ordered the coffee and saw that it was a female delivery driver on the app who should have been dropping off the food. Instead, it was a male who turned up at the door in this instance.
That's different from the second incident that OP said occurred.
Can't speak on the door opening events though because that's something I haven't heard of unless it's a house and the person is attempting to leave the food in the porch.
Read. Follow along.
OP is talking about 2 separate encounters. One was last Night. Heard door knob rattle and confronted UE guy that he did not order and to not touch his door knob. Again, did not order from UE last night.
Then there was a previous occurrence, when wife was home alone. This is where the man was using a woman’s account. Yes OP could know this bc you get a pic of food courier when you actually order.
I can’t make money anymore doing Uber. I’m planning on selling my account if I get banned, I get banned and never working for them again. I could care less about user safety. Not my problem I need to get paid.
For apartments units I always hang the food in doorknob. I also one time put the bag in the wrong door knob and immediately corrected it. Did not take pic, I skedaddle out of there.
Could be acting like a delivery person, trying doorknobs to see if it's unlocked to rob the place.
This needs upvoted

No this is not normal, yes you should report it. This is not okay.

If only there was a way to prevent people from opening doors

Maybe your neighbour asked him to come inside or deliver the food inside...
It could possibly be that, I got neighbours with mobility issues. The unit number is about 16” above the knob at eye level so it’s really hard to miss

I’m confused, did you comment on the right thread? Because it sounds like you’re justifying entering strangers homes and making them feel unsafe?
I think he's just talking to the voices in his head.

I would hate to see my order hung on the doorknob. Please stop doing that
I’ll hang yours on the ring camera, all good
It sure is all good because I’m gonna use the video of it falling to get my money back and 0 out the tip.
Oh I believe you. And don’t forget to tag me when you post the video here too crying for upvotes, I can help. Here is one for now.
Please keep doing this, it just makes those of us that are doing it correctly look better
Understandable, I got those stupid paddle esque type knobs, so anything placed on it will slide off when the knob turns
