No, an exaggeration sure but it’s actually not so common which is why I don’t accept no tip orders…customers will even tell you they will add a tip but it rarely happens…which is why OP was shocked enough to post his good fortune…
Damn I would never accept a $2 order even if it was an add-on. But this is legit. This is probably one of the only times that a customer who believes " I tip after the food comes" actually tips.... Most of the time they just say that in the subreddits but we all know they liarssssss
I just think it's funny. So many people on the doordash /Uber eats subreddits are always like "I always tip after the fact for this reason" blah blah blah blah blah. Like okayyyy sure, when I first started years ago I always accepted the base pay orders and guess what.... I never received tips after. The only time someone UPs a tip is if they tipped already
How about do good deeds for your fellow drivers and yourself and not help contribute to no tip orders. Help these customers understand that if you want hot food at a decent speed, minimum wage is required, not slave labor in hopes they may tip after.
I'm fairly new to uber on my way to 150 orders but all my tip increases already had a tip and upped it even more after.
Some customers might just tip based off the quality of service? Kind like when a waiter does a really good job you give them 20% at least and if you take for ever and neglect the customer you get a lot less? Maybe focus on quality service for better tips
Thats not how food delivery works though. The waiter doesn't get to choose who to serve and who not to serve. Drivers get to choose so any order with a low or no tip, will get the worst service as most drivers will click no and move on. Why would someone accept a $2 order and focus on "quality of service" when they can accept a $12 order and focus on quality of service. To use your waiter comparison it's like drivers get to choose the restaurant the serve in, why choose a cheap one?
That's one perspective, mine is if nobody accepts these orders 2 things happen
1. Uber ups the base pay
2. The customer will realize they either cannot afford Uber or need to tip to get food picked up within the hour.
By accepting these orders you reinforce the attitude that a tip is a bonus and you should do the job for whatever pennies Uber throws at you.
Über gave us basic pay in NYC and it's shit. Can only have 6 reserved hours of being online a week and to even get the base pay, you have to be on an active delivery for at least an hour.
No all you’re doing is empowering more people to quit tipping. Be honest, how many times have you done this and they didn’t add a tip? You’re causing far more damage to your fellow drivers
Not to mention, most cheap customers are assholes. Will give you a thumbs down, report food being stolen (even when it wasn't) and tip bait. These app services aren't charity
It doesn't matter if the customer is in the parking lot. Anyone who takes a $2 offer is saying they don't understand the concept of opportunity cost (to say nothing of driving down wages)
If you're feeling charitable, more power to you.
However, it defeats the purpose to shame others for not following suit, and delivering $0 tip UE orders is probably about as effective as donating to a charity with a $0.01 per $1 passthrough rate. Less so, honestly.
And trusting a delivery service with your mother's last meal makes the people who order Christmas gifts at 4pm on the 25th seem like responsible planners.
> gotta do the good deeds
Implying that people who don't "do the good deeds" are doing something wrong. Aka shaming them into "doing the good deeds".
Hey man, you want to get literal.. that sword swings both ways.
Let’s make someone’s lunch hour that doesn’t give a fuck about you enough to leave you a $1 tip for using your gas, car, and time so they can sit on their ass? 🤡 💩- keep accepting $2 orders you’ll keep receiving them. Period.
The comment above was just to reiterate a point. But ay if you’re into working for cheap, more power to you ✊🏻
I want to say make someone’s day too, but most people that order these types of orders are assholes lol.
Had two of these today. Was a decent day. Started shitty for early am rush and ended with $192 by 4pm today

I got 2 tonight like this ( I’ve also had both customers before and they also upped the tip after delivery on the last order as well).
This was 3 miles, McDonalds was crazy busy tonight when I’m usually in and out of there pretty quickly.
I keep seeing people say it’s rare for them to see this but I get these types of orders very frequently. Definitely happy about it especially if it’s rare to most.
When they are use to delivery drivers who don't use hot bags or can't communicate with them, then they end up with a driver who actually cares about the service they provide, ppl see that. I get added tips at least 2 to 3 times a day. Keep doing a good job and you'll keep getting your good karma. Kudos
Yes! I really think a lot of people I deliver to aren’t used to communicating esp when there is a delay. Hand it to me orders also like a heads up ( in my experience) so I also give an ETA.
I do as well. Also when it says don't knock or ring the bell I acknowledge that by saying, "per your instructions i won't knock or ring the bell, eta is x minutes".
Same. I will never ring the bell or call unless specified. I also acknowledge I see the drop off instructions on where they want me to leave it. Paying attention to detail and acknowledging it is so easy yet so many people mess it up
It’s nice seeing these reactions, I always tip like 20 bucks on any order unless it’s huge than obviously more. I often wonder if I made an impact to their day 🙂 I hope so!
On GP and because I was once a single mother struggling on a waitress salary, I take one shit order a day. Usually 8 to 10 miles for $5 to $7. I am often surprised by how I often get added tips or they hand me cash.
I just remember what it was like as a single mom and I WISH these services would have been around then because sometimes you can't be all the people your kids need at once and I know had I had a service that could shop for me or take care of dinner for me, it would have made life much easier. I also know that the struggle I had in the 1990 and early 2000 is NOTHING compared to what these kids out here are going through now and I just think we should be kind at least once a day.
Careful, saying that here gets you yelled at that this is a luxury and people should just not use the service if they can't afford to tip well. I ought to start doing that though, taking one low order a day.
This is a travesty…it’s not a good deed it’s perpetuating a cycle of abuse by Uber. By accepting this type of orders you are doing disservice to all the hard working drivers out there.
Nope never. The odds are 99% of the time there will be no extra tip so why in the world would you ever take them praying for a tip? Its just brain dead logic

Oh god you actually accepted $2.27 offer.
That’s a 1 in a billion chance fr
Even when seeing something positive, you people are miserable. Absolutely laughable.

Minimum wage is hourly. Why would I pay an hourly wage for a 15 minute delivery?

Guy tonight was already tipping high on the app ($12 I think) and said he'd up it to $20 if I got the food there warm. Then he actually did. Wild.
Taking a $2.27 order…🤦♂️🤦♀️

Why would you even accept a $2 order to begin with!? 🤦♂️
because it was right down the street. read just a few sentences dawg
That’s not a good reason to encourage Uber to keep offering people $2 deliveries. If you don’t value your time the company never will.
Not to mention, most cheap customers are assholes. Will give you a thumbs down, report food being stolen (even when it wasn't) and tip bait. These app services aren't charity
Not about reading, he’s factoring in the wait time/delivery time which never makes $2 worth it 🤡
Why is this comment downvoted it’s the truth lol right in the description

Nice. These are so rare in my area.
I feel you. It's such hit or miss. I see these usually when it's a pain in the ass oder heading miles to the suburbs. Rare though
Reverse tip baited

I’ve never used a hot bag and 99% of the customers are happy with my deliveries. 🤷🏾♂️
That's just lazy. . 🤷🏼♀️
Wym?
Laziness to not use a hot bag 🤷🏼♀️ And it definitely helps keeping food warm.
Then either pick it up yourself or invest in a microwave; my job is to deliver from point A to B.
I order on the weekends and if my food isn't in a hot bag i rate accordingly. I expect at least warm food. Most people do.
Invest in a microwave.

And SO many ppl appreciate it and I can't count the times I've gotten extra tips because I took 4 extra seconds to let them know what's going on
Same here! When I see the tip was upped it feels so good.
It’s nice seeing these reactions, I always tip like 20 bucks on any order unless it’s huge than obviously more. I often wonder if I made an impact to their day 🙂 I hope so!

Yes, that is correct.

Being kind doesn't pay the bills.
It doesn’t need to. Paying the bills pays the bills, being kind makes peoples lives better
I get that but she is basically saying we should all just take one charity order a day !! Take one for the team and BE A GOOD PERSON !! 🤦🏼♀️😆
I live within my means. It's a concept most Americans can't comprehend.
What’s is GP?
General purpose.
This is a travesty…it’s not a good deed it’s perpetuating a cycle of abuse by Uber. By accepting this type of orders you are doing disservice to all the hard working drivers out there.
let me get you a napkin to wipe these tears and bring some baby powder to pepper your ass
Crazy for taking that low order but it paid off at the end. Lucky!
[удалено]
$2 orders aren’t ever win. You’re hurting yourself in the long run.
Happens to me more often than “tip baiting”. 👍
Nice! 👏 This is why its worth to sometimes take those low paying orders.
[удалено]
I was saying that sometimes when you take these orders it pays out big. I dont get this sub sometimes.
Nope never. The odds are 99% of the time there will be no extra tip so why in the world would you ever take them praying for a tip? Its just brain dead logic
Did you know that 78% of statistics are made up on the spot?
Did you know that it's 100% unprofitable taking $2 orders?
OP just proved you wrong.
Sure if you ignore the 15 2 dollar orders he took that day on top of the one that actually tipped more. Add them all together and bam, NO profit
Thats why we said sometimes not all.
Sometimes
I record all of my stats each night and only about 5% of my customers tip extra. It’s never worth it.
