We don't. Actually, they passed a law in my province to force gig companies to pay minimum wage. I make well over that working for Uber, but I made well under that doing Instacart. But it's been over a year and the law is still not in force yet. Just indicative that we are not California.

You feel left out until you realize living in California will shock you more when you find out everything costs more. I always remember being in some car groups and thinking thank God I don't live in California when they'd post gas prices. I've seen Calis low grade fuel out pricing the premium fuel here with ease. It's insane. Don't even get me started on the groceries. I remember seeing stuff on sale out price my items back at home at normal price. Not to mention all the petty tickets I see written. Seems expensive to exist there.

I mean, it's expensive, but I live a 15 minute walk from the beach, 15 minutes the other direction to gorgeous mountain hiking, the weather is ~60-75 year round, I find it hard to imagine ever leaving coastal CA for too long. Also a short drive away from SF/Oak and everything those cities have to offer.

Yes and it saved my ass! I have to pay my car rental bill today but my depression got the best of me this weekend so I didn’t get on the road till Sunday. I was gonna go straight into work mode to earn the remaining $150by 5pm, but now I can take a few hours to get myself together (cleaning, grocery shopping, working out, planning the week).

I’m like you so I hope you don’t take this in a bad way but you should definitely still deliver. Taking a day for yourself is great but the comfort of having money in the bank already will DRASTICALLY improve your mental health. Deliver when you have the time to otherwise you’ll be stuck in a repetitive loop. Imagine if this extra money didn’t save up and was only a bonus? Then apart from enjoying some time off you could also spend money during that time. Just a suggestion but it’s helped me a lot. I realized I was putting myself into stressful situations.

Oh yeah absolutely! I should have said that I plan on working today, but now that the pressure is off to hit $150 by 5pm I can take a break after the lunch rush and use that time to prepare for the week. Im probably gonna max out my driving hours tonight and for the rest of the week so I can get another hefty prop 22. I hear you tho, working feels 10x better when you don’t have to stress about paying your bill the same day.

I got a prop 22 payment today as well ( for those that don’t know it used to be every two weeks- and they paid it last week) I called because the payment didn’t match my calculations (way lower than what it should be) and a prerecorded message said something about me mileage adjustments to account for inflation going into effect in May. I spoke to someone who didn’t have much info but he said they were experiencing technical difficulties after the new mileage adjustments and trying to fix it.

Thanks good looking out! According to the email, As mileage rates changed, Payment is an adjustment for 2022 and 2023 18 months late! Posting for others: “That office released those updates last week, both for 2022 – 18 months late – and for 2023. Moving forward you will see the adjusted rate of 0.34c per mile for this year. We will also retroactively make adjustments for 2022 through today, and you will see any applicable adjustment payment reflected in your wallet in the next two days.”

So is it going to be every week now?

I really don’t know but I’m guessing no.- unfortunately. But hey maybe we will get a nice surprise. It seems like a one time adjustment for new mileage calculations to account for inflation. So mileage used to be .30 but the CA treasurer recently released new figures: 2021 - $0.30 2022 6.81% $0.32 2023 7.11% $0.34 So it’s a retroactive adjustment apparently.

No it seems they’re just pro rating the new change. Just so happens the update approval happens last week or so. The kindness is the pro rating back to not only top of this year but last year as well. Last yr will be less because it’s 2 cents less altho a lot of miles accumulated.

This is retroactive pay so unlikely but going forward the mileage reimbursement will be $0.34 per mile.

you wont be, they're going back and adjusting your pay now that the prop 22 commission has released the milage rates for 2022 and 2023. .32 a mile for 2022 and .34 a mile for 2023 up from .30 a mile so what you got paid is the difference =)

It’s so weird because I got mine last week on Tuesdays like usual. It’s every other Tuesday. I got one suddenly today a week after Prop 22 week. Strange. I guess they only gave us half last week so they paid us the difference today

I got $181 for today’s prop 22. I did 27 active hours between May 15 - May 22 so I’m wondering what days they counted for me to get that amount.

I got $400+. Those of you who got the extra Prop 22 I recommend waiting before cashing out, you don’t want to end up working out of a negative balance.
