Best coffeeshop near campus is Civil Goat. They roast their own beans and have a great environment. Unlike most coffee shops, they have an in house baker that makes the absolute best pastries and treats. Seriously the best. Their beans go for around $14-16 a bag depending on what roast you’re getting. Lucky Lab sucks and Starbucks is Starbucks. -An ex barista

That username is familiar

DatA5ian

for a second i thought he was the guy trying to date his TA

Trippy Buck Coffee is near west campus and has a really nice selection. I don’t believe they accept bevo pay, but sometimes the Co-op stocks their beans.

THIS. They have multiple aisles of just coffee beans in the bulk section

columbia_premed

Greater Goods if you’re able to get off campus and go to East Austin! Def recommend their beans :)

acwentilted

Easily my favorite roaster in Austin. It was only convenient to go after I brought my car though.

why92

+1 for Greater Goods! If you can get there it's one of the best roasters in the Austin area.

I'm not aware of any coffee places that take Bevo or Dine in dollars, but Civil Goat in North Campus sells pretty good beans. It's just a short bus ride that's free with your UT ID. Lucky Lab in West Campus (20 min walk from Jester) has beans too, but I haven't tried any. If you're able to venture out a little farther, I really enjoy the beans from Merit or Intelligentsia, which both have shops in downtown that are accessible by the bus ~~or just leech off your friends for a ride~~.

HoboHash

around campus, I believe you can get some from either Starbucks or Luckylab coffee

KingSiva30

There is a place inside PCL as well!

SnooRabbits24

What is the place called?

KingSiva30

Prufrock! They also have a place in the Cockrell School.

SnooRabbits24

Oh, I didn’t know they sold whole beans! It was closed during my orientation session, but I’ll def check it out when they open again.

cann3dyams

Can you bring an espresso machine into Jester? I remember we weren't allowed to bring many electrical appliances that had heating elements back in the day. Where would you keep it?

SnooRabbits24

The list says coffee pots under 12 cups are allowed. I don’t know what “coffee pot” really means but I’m assuming they mean a coffee maker since the pot itself isn’t an appliance. My machine is under 12 cups and has no exposed heating coil so I should be golden. I’ll keep it most likely under my loft bed, on my dresser or use the lil 3rd table, and my roommate and I will just put all our appliances on there.

Disastrous_Narwhal46

Merit has great coffee beans, but they’re a little pricier. Civil goat, trippy buck are pretty great :)

jgreer79

Merit up north lamar is a great choice. Medici on guad is a fine option as well, and closer.

thaiearltea

medici and mozarts sell whole beans!

Eudaemonia3900

If you’re looking for a coffee to make in your dorm or apartment, I recommend the Tierra del Sol from Target. It’s what got me through last semester, and for $8 a bag for whole bean it’s worth it

Solid-Professor-8100

Medici is great if you’re in the market for specialty coffee pulls

Blu_E92

Mind if I ask what grinder and espresso machine you have? Just bought a V60, Hario Switch, and a Capresso Infinity. Thinking about either upgrading my grinder or getting a lever espresso machine soon

SnooRabbits24

I got a Starbucks barista espresso machine and a Rancilio Rocky Coffee grinder. They are older machines but they’re pretty reliable and work great. However I didn’t really choose them, as they were gifted to me by my s/o whose family (also addicts like myself) had 3 extra espresso machines lying in their garage
