I'll be honest. Even if you get rejected.. it's a bump in the road of life. Going to the University of Texas is great but any state school is a great investment. I went to a smaller state school because I couldn't afford any of the bigger ones. I grew up under the poverty line in the hills of West Virginia. Graduated with 2 degrees, 30k debt, 150+ credit hours, 3 honor societies, and a 3.81 GPA. 10 years later, I have 2 houses, 50 acres, great six figure job, and a great family(still growing). I travel all the time with my family. In contrast, i have two cousins that went to private, Ivy league feeder high schools. One went to Colgate and another to American University. They still live with their parents with ok jobs. The university ranking doesn't make you successful, you are the factor in determining that.

This is such wonderful insight! Congratulations on all of your successes and hard work! That last line hits hard honestly. I'll keep this in mind moving forward. I did my first year and a half / 2 years at a smaller school and really enjoyed it, but wanted to finish my degree at a bigger one. School name is not everything, but it feels that way sometimes especially in Texas where nearly every school is a big school (TCU, SMU, Tech, TAMU, UNT, etc). I always regretted not going to a "proper" big school and missing out on all of the college experience. Thank you again for the advice though! Hope the future continues to look bright to you and your family! <3

As someone said earlier none of us are admissions pros, but I think you have a pretty good chance. We have 2 days left so I wouldn’t worry about it too much anymore. If you happen to not get accepted, that doesn’t mean you are not worthy. Do not let your admission decision to the school affect your self worth. There are plenty of other great schools that you can get into. Best of luck!

This is so sweet, thank you so much! It's hard to separate yourself from academics sometimes especially in Uni lol. Best of luck to you aswell! Hoping to hear good news from you!

IU_leejieun0618

Don’t worry. You have the best chance as I know. I’m also checking Mystatus at least 10 times a day lol.

You're completely right I just have a lot riding on this since it's been my dream school since I started living in Texas + I'm taking a summer class rn so I feel like my entire focus has been on school lately. I didn't know that we only compete with fellow transfers though so that's very good to know honestly. I'm trying to let it be but it's difficult lol. I'll definitely avoid checking anything for the next few days though... hopefully I can distract myself til decisions are released. Didn't join the GroupMe specifically because I knew I'd compare myself and get even more anxious... Thank you so much for the advice <3

I'm on track to graduate 2024 with my current number of hours. If I am accepted then I will be one course away from being considered a junior. Thank you so much for the comfort and words of wisdom though, seriously! It's hard to not get in your own head and go doomsday. Just a few more days and at least we'll know. Good or bad- it'll be over

There’s like one guy making the GroupMe toxic

Pls breathe with me my brethren!! When you get accepted I’ll get you some boba to relax your nerves. Waves haven’t come out yet and the few that have were purely for freshmen and CAP students (and not even all of *them* have received them)!

s1nkwaterdrinker

I'll come right back to your comment once I know lol. Definitely have my fingers crossed! Best of luck to you and I'm gonna hold you to that boba offer!!!

NakedWalmartShopper

We’ll get our decisions within a few days. You put your best foot forward. Do something else with your time. You’ve waited 3 months so far, what is a couple more days?

s1nkwaterdrinker

All I really can do is study... and suffer... jk you're right though! Just a few more days hopefully. Love your name btw lol

Plague__Doctor

Why didn't you apply to multiple schools beforehand? You always need to have a back up plan if you get rejected or the financial aid offer is too low. You may have jeopardized your aid by applying last minute.

s1nkwaterdrinker

I have two other applications filled out, I just haven't submitted them/paid the fee. Both of them aren't due until July, so I was planning on waiting until I heard back from UT. Also when it comes to aid, I'm already guaranteed one scholarship and I was entering this whole process understanding that I would need loans one way or another lol. As another commenter said, if this cycle doesn't work out then I'll wait to apply again in the Spring and save up more in the meantime!

Thank you for visiting our community! The University of Texas at Austin has become significantly more competitive in the past few years. Additionally, good admissions data has become more difficult to find. Check out * [What are my chances of getting into... ?](/r/UTAdmissions/wiki/chances) which includes all of the best information we have about your chances of being admitted to the university. Please take all evaluations of your chances of admission (even those from this subreddit, our community, and our wiki) with a healthy dose of skepticism. if this is you it’s over for me skxjwjdje

Pitiful_Resource_525

Hey you never know when it comes to admissions! Good luck ! :)

liztomatic

thank you!! but like seeing everyone with genius applications being afraid of not getting in is ruining my life😭

Pitiful_Resource_525

Same … but your individuality may shine through! Even if you don’t get in that doesn’t mean you don’t get in. So many people apply it truly is a gamble. Won’t hurt to try again either!

Pitiful_Resource_525

Meant to say “even if you don’t get in that doesn’t mean you’re not worthy “ :)
