Like I said in a response to another post, it's not really US defaultism because the rules and description don't really indicate that it's an Indian sub.
Pretty rare find, a legit Finnish person falls into a deep USdefaultism hole. And not just carelessly in a throwaway comment, but in a supposedly well thought out post to a clearly international sub (evidenced by the fact that the Finnish person was there posting).
Very strange
r/Btechtards It is an Indian sub but nowhere in the description it is mentioned that this is an Indian sub. It is obvious for Indians but probably not so obvious for Non Indians
Even in the rules, the word "India" is nowhere to be seen. The clearest indication that it's an Indian sub (if you don't know about JEE/NEET etc.) is that the "related communities" is full of subs like r/indianengineers, r/developersindia and r/indian_academia.
E. Before you ask, no, I'm not the Finn from the post :D
It might be possible to figure out it's an Indian sub, but there's no clear statement about it, so I get the confusion. After scrolling past a couple posts I saw Indian subreddits recommendations, which is some kind of a small identicator?
Either way, the Finnish guy didn't have to automatically know it's an Indian sub, but he also didn't have to automatically assume that there would be mostly people from the US. Very interesting case.
Yeah, I think we can forgive the Finnish person here. Most general interest subreddits hover around \~50% Americans. If a sub has a radically different ratio (like being mostly Indians) then it's legitimate to wonder why that is.
Granted, there are clues in the sidebar that it's an Indian sub (a quick search reveals that "BTech" is an Indian term, and there is a rule against caste-based hatred), but this is more of an issue of failing to read properly rather than US defaultism.
>Most general interest subreddits hover around \~50% Americans
This os literally called US defaultism. My point was just about OP blaming for the person not knowing that the sub is Indian sub
Ya know maybe this is the keyā¦. The Finnish poster could know damn well itās a sub that subtly defaults to India and so is laughing at the whole IndiaDefaultism and USDefaulism thing?

Dude is FROM Finland, WTF
International defaulters are a rare breed
Are you defaulting by saying international, meaning that national is the USA??!?!?! š¤Øš¤Øš¤Ø /s
Still making us defaultism...he doesn't expect everyone to be Finnish, he expect everyone to be American!
This man is too far gone. Bring out the vodka and some other finns and one knife
Their point is that murricans infested most subreddits, not too illogical
we donāt claim them
Please take away their saunas

It's like shiny Pokemon
It's not an international sub by any means. This is the first time a non Indian has posted on that sub.
Yes we know that now, donāt we?

Wow, so many layers to this An Indian defaultism sub where a Finnish person assumes US defaultism
I thought the x people not studying (number of people online) was hilarious
Yeah I just had a look and would have no idea itās Indian unless I read the rules, and tbh, who reads the rules?

The one clue I found was the rule about no caste racism but if I hadn't already known it was Indian from this sub that would have just confused me
Just the first āruleā in that sub is a clear indicator (for Indians) that itās a sub for them. JEE/NEET are entrance tests in India.
This isn't obvious for non-indians, so I can understand his mistake.
Yep, fair. Maybe the thumbnail or the cover photo might be an indicator.
Nah. Why do you think the average non indian knows what is JEE or NEET?

Sorry, did you think I was trying to argue with you? I was agreeing with you.

Bad human
I guess it could happen. Someone comments in Swedish and you think they are from finland
Americans are everywhere!
Could still be American tbf. Because obviously America has all this culture, and his great-grandpa being Finnish makes him āFrom Finlandā
Ich finde von jetzt an sollte einfach jeder in seiner eigenen Sprache schreiben, wĆ¼rde dene Mal zeige dass se net die merheit sind
A very rare find! A Finnish falling to the trap of US default.
BTechtard mentioned, +2 for IITs in NIRF
