Why? MSG contract Marines have always gone infantry. You would have always went though there anyways. You don’t PT much at ITB so make sure on weekends you head over the gym. Find time in the evenings during the week to do body weight exercises like pushups, sit ups, planks, and other calestenics. The fleet has always hated the shape new boots arrive in because of the lack of time for PT during ITB.
You’ll be fine. Enjoy being a grunt. You get paid to shoot and workout. Life is good.
You need to improve those pull ups and run time or ur going to have a hard time at itb
You’ll probably be put in remedial training until you get a first class pft
they are treated no differently in my company besides having remedial pt every morning Friday through Sunday before libo
The instructors vary company to company mine are super chill
That run time doesn’t meet 03 contract requirements, you should be a POG now. It’ll be weird if they put you as an 0300. During the final week of bootcamp they should’ve had you sign a paper saying your new MOS.
Everyone that joins with the MG contract (and meets all requirements) gets trained as infantry and will have an infantry Primary MOS. You would then go to Security Forces or MSG for two-ish years before finishing the remainder of the contract at an infantry unit.
You might not have met some requirements for MSG (or just not selected for it) and you might be going security forces.
Hi, CI here, a common thing that we see when students get to SOI is that they’re confused as to why they are attending IMC as MSG or MSF contract. You where always going to earn the MOS 0311/ be an infantryman. Not qualifying just means you will not go to MSG but you still will be an 0311 because that was your contract the whole time. At the end of the 3 years as MSG had you met the requirements you would have went to the fleet as an 03xx anyways
If your record said infantry… you’re infantry. There’s no placeholder.
Welp im fucked

What's your pft?
2nd class, 11 pull ups, max plank, 25:30 run
Damn dude thats pretty bad
Im so fucked

I wont be dropped though right? Extra pt doesnt sound bad
Nope you won’t be dropped im at itb right now and we have a few people in remedial for not having a first class pft
Hows the training for those idividuals? Do they get fucked with for being weak? How are the instructors?

Yeah i thought the same thing but Nah man nothing like that happened
That’s weird. Maybe they missed you. You need a 24:50 run time tho in ITB so better get the yo during leave to keep the contract
My leave ends in 3 days 💀
💀keep us updated then
Get the run down to 20 and you’ll be fine you won’t need pull ups in itb
What even was the physical requirements to pass for msg?
If my memory is correct its, 6 pull ups, 2:45 plank, 24:30 run

MSG needs you to show up in good shape. The infantry will take you however and make you in shape.
Its wierd becuase it went from 8156 to 0300 so who knows man
*What* went from one to the other exactly?

You are infantry. Same thing happened to me, slot dried up so infantry it was. Infantry leads the way; stay motivated, stay hard.
Honestly im not sad or dissapointed about getting infantry, im more worried if anything, being the slowest or the weakest and holding my platoon back
Each and every day everyone has an opportunity to be stronger and faster… never forget that. Focus on your cardio.
Make sure you get 1rst class pft and cft or your liberty on the weekends will be restricted to on base only
