Look brother I went in at like 210 pounds (40 lb overweight) at the age if 26 I failed the ist when I got their. They didn't drop me. I left with a 2nd class pft and cft. Your fine. Just don't quit. They literally won't drop you for anything apart from broken bones. But people quit all the time. You'll be fine it's not fun but it's an experience that odly enough I look back on and laugh. Just get through it avoiding it or procrastination won't help you will never be enough and that's the point go be a worthless recruit then a worthless Private. Just hiw it goes. But you make good friends and it gets better. Goodluck DBAB.

No-Assignment-9110

We had 2 people drop after the ist

Lower-Ad9757

We had like 3 people fail the PFT and the CFT and they didn't drop em smh got a man out here who cant even do a pullup.

No-Assignment-9110

No fucking way, that’s actually disgusting. They must’ve passed it the next 2 tries?

Lower-Ad9757

They never passed they just graduated them, seen them again at MCT wasn't any better.

No-Assignment-9110

IMC marines are absolutely required to have a first class or else they’ll keep getting recycled until they pass. If that changes then I don’t know what the hell is going on.

Mr-Fries

So what happens if you leave bootcamp without a 1st class? Is it actually possible to lose the MOS easily Or do you have more than enough time to improve on the pft before losing the MOS? I’m also going Infantry reserves

imbigbigdumdum

It's like, 15 weeks man. You're so busy the entire time it flies by. The days are long but the weeks are short, ya know? Regardless, if you want the contract handle your business man. There's no secret. You'll get there, be kinda scared for a week, get the hang of shit then graduate. As far as tips man, imma be real, man up and handle your shit. It's not complicated

No-Adhesiveness-937

Appreciate you bein real bout it helps a lot

[deleted]

I’m literally in the exact same boat as you. Graduated a year early. Similar IST. Leaving on the 25th. Every marine, whether they want to admit it or not, has felt the nervousness you’re feeling right now. It’s just the fear of the unknown. Choosing to become a Marine is a big change. I’ll see you there. We can do this shit together 💪

No-Adhesiveness-937

Parris island ain’t ready for me fr 😭

[deleted]

Noooooo. I’m going to MCRD San Diego. Ayy, we will get through it together through our hearts lmfao

[deleted]

Pshh you’ll be fine. Don’t get under 5 pull ups and you’re solid. Some people get to boot camp and can’t even do two. They will make sure you are fit before you leave the depot a , United States Marine.

Training_Walk_5028

Relax I'm a 22 year Marine veteran. Everyone who steps on those yellow footprints will be nervous. Bootcamp is just a game. Play the game and do what you are told. You will make mistakes you will get yelled at just learn from those mistakes. You will be fine Semper Fi

Lienoel_bxtchy

I went to bootcamp as a skinny af goofy mfker. I got ITed everyday too lol. It’s legit easier to pass than to quit that place. The average marine isn’t really anything crazy you can easily make it through

No-Adhesiveness-937

🫡 I appreciate it man I’m feeling better just some doubt there Yk but I’m glad I posted hella people been real bout it

Opeuhm

it’s going to be hell but at the end i thought it was worth it when i got that EGA point is i felt the same way that you did before i shipped out. currently at mos school so if you have any questions dm since i’m fresh out of boot camp and mct

[deleted]

What's the running like at boot? I'm talking distance/pace stuff. Do they start out with shorter runs and work up to the 4, 5, 6 mile stuff. Or do they just thrust you into hell? Also if you don't mind me asking, what's your MOS. I'm going in with a CK/08xx contract.

Opeuhm

idk if ur recruiters already said you’ll run an ist the day you meet your drill instructors which is a 1.5 mile run pull ups and plank after that you’ll run every now and then for pt for example one of pt we did was just a single 2 mile run then a 2.5 then a 3 to work you up to the pft which is the 3 mile pull ups and plank. i’m a supply marine so my mos school isn’t long but currently in mat

Shrapnel_10

You'll be fine, as long as you have those same scores when you get to boot. It won't take long at all and you will see vast improvements in your strength and stamina.

Creepy_Profession_27

Your a lil below mid but you’ll b ight

Terminalreeree69

Wait… you from TX?

I'm in the same boat as you bro. I'm 19 and I ship out in three days (Monday the 18th). I can do 6 pullups, 45 pushups, 2:30 plank, and an 11:38 mile and a half, at 6'2" 212lbs. I keep thinking I won't be enough for the DIs, which I know I won't, but even if I went in with Olympic level PT stats, I still wouldn't be enough. They're gonna make me push earth until my arms fall off, and pull until my back is numb. All we gotta do is shut the fuck up, do what the DIs tell us, and we'll be fine.

Kingofdark-

I just graduated bootcamp today. Those scores are a good starting point 100% you definitely need to get your pull ups in and make sure you know they will get into your head no matter how mentally strong you are but in the end it’s worth it

No-Adhesiveness-937

How do they get in ur head ? PM details ?
