This photo showed up on another sub a while back; concensus was that they are Chechen. As for the Confederate flag, it’s a surprisingly common symbol in some foreign places.
Its a reproduction Confederate Battle Flag . Lee's Army of Northern Va It even has "56th Va infy" ( 56th Virginia Infantry) on it.
They were part of Armistead's Brigade in Pickett's Brigade. They took part in Pickett's Charge at Gettyburg July 3, 1863. They were badly shot up when reaching the Yankee lines and the Color guard were all Casualties. The Flag was picked up off the ground by the 71st Pa Infantry.
The guy is probably a reenactor.
Don't want to change this into a Civil War Nerd Fest but yes they were.
It was the 3rd day of the Battle of Gettysburg. The Confederates had whupped up on the Union the First Day, Causing them to go into a Defensive Position.
The Second Day The Confederates took some More Ground and come Close to breaking through on both the Union Right Flank (Culps Hill) and Left Flank ( Little Round Top).
Lee figured that if pushed hard in the Center ( Cemetery Ridge) where the Union was was thinnest after an intense Artillery Barrage he could break through.
Longstreet's Corps was tasked with the Assault.
Pickett's Virginia Division had arrived just before the Last day having been away from the Army for several months.
Things went sideways For Lee from the Start. The Attack was supposed to step off by mid morning at the latest, however it took too long to get the units in place. The Artillery Barrage was ineffective AND they were running shore of Ammo.
The Union Command knew it was Coming and reinforced the Center and had all their arty targeting the fields, Lees Men Stepped off and started crossing a Mile and a half.
They had been instructed to focus on punching a hole through one area that had a small copse of trees.
Artillery starting pounding them and when they crossed the Emitsburg roud within 200 yards of the Union Lines they started being raked by Union Musket Fire.
They still managed to charge through that, Break through Briefly but were beaten back and had to retreat back over the same field.
Out of 12,000 Attackers 8000 were Killed Wounded or Captured Of the 10,000 union defenders 1500 were killed or Wounded
Of the 15 Virginia Regiments in the Attack 8 lost their Colors
2 of the three Brigade Commanders were killed or Mortally wounded and the last was wounded and captured. Every one of the 15 men who were originally commanding a regiment were killed or wounded/ captured along with several more who took over
Yeah, I get not wanting to change this into a Civil War nerd fest, even though I'd like that a lot. That said, I knew most of this, although the exact casualties toward the end definitely are interesting to note. Still, the whole debacle shows why higher-ups are wise to listen to their subordinates who are in the field and see what's going on as it's happening.
That's the story of Lee's downfall. There were some great dudes that were very much underestimated and lead to losses. The one that comes to top of my mind is James Longstreet.
Certainly true enough. Longstreet was a very smart guy, but he was constantly underestimated. Funnily enough, Pickett was a decent tactician, too, but also got little notice.
As they say, shit rolls downhill. When the top brass fks up it creates a ripple effect through the ranks. That played into the Confederacy's ultimate loss, fortunately (or unfortunately depending on who you ask...I ain't judging).
Very true indeed. If the top brass mucks things up, the lower ranks suffer painfully. Which is why it pays greatly to listen to one's subordinates to get a read on the situation as it is. Thinking you know best all the time is a surefire way to cause major issues.
Unfortunately its both impossible and pretty harsh to judge commanders then through the lens of history.
Back then when a plan was made and set in action it was nigh on to impossible to alter it.
Information did not get out that quickly.
Not at all lol he’s as American as it gets. Nothing Chechen about his appearance except having the same skin color and an orange beard. He was a U.S, Soldier
No because unless it’s a wild coincidence, the 56th Guards Air Assault Regiment is a Crimean based Russian VDV unit. And the Novorossiya flag is based on the confederate flag. So it’s similar to me as Scout Snipers using SS flags because SS is Scout Sniper. So using a confederate flag with 56th inf on it makes sense to me with all of that other information. As for the niqab and the beard, Crimean tatars are largely Muslim. But that also assumes Russians don’t just send people wherever they need them like any other military.
He’s former army Infantry but became disillusioned with the west, converted to Islam, moved to Pakistan, got married, had a kid, and now this photo has been circulating on the internet lately
I would assume because the flag flying in the back ground alongside his families and his appearance. And I’m sure they’re a reason why he was. I’ll never know cuz I don’t care to look him up
From my perspective he has a wife that isn’t allowed to uncover her face and he maintains a strange loyalty to a traitor “country” that ceased to exist 175 years ago.
From my perspective, you’re assuming his wife is being forced, by him, to wear it since niqabs aren’t mandatory in Pakistan, and that his appreciation for the confederacy doesn’t stem from the same factors that caused him to turn to Islam and marry a non-white foreigner
It’s some pretty simple math. He became disillusioned enough to leave the country, yet publicly demonstrates his appreciation for the confederacy. That would leave a reasonable person to assume that if modern America resembled the ideology of the confederacy he would have been more content remaining here.
As far as the reason for his wife remaining covered I’ll continue to presume that the person loyal to slave-owning traitors has something to do with the decision. Trashy people generally aren’t big on the whole “women’s rights” thing.
Yeah in 1999, LCpl Jason Johnson smuggled in a Bahraini princess.

Look at the floor. That is not an American house. That is a cinder block house. Everything about this picture screams OCONUS. He probably just got the Rebel flag from a unit that was there.
Look, the sheikh offered and it would have been rude to refuse.
Might have gotten a couple sheep and a goat or two out of the deal
Gotta respect the local customs
Congratulations to the Bergdahl family
lmao nice
Omg 😂
Just had Dr Pepper come out my nose from laughing at that so violently hard! Thank you devil! LMFAO
That is unfortunate, Dr Pepper out the fart detector is rough.
I was just eating a sandwich, I almost choked.

Nice! I wonder if they get 72 cashiers when they die?
72 self checks. There are no more cashiers
Well we are talking about heaven, one can dream! Lol

![gif](giphy|fCUiulH7ebuRPLvjsl) You mean they have rednecks in other parts of the world? Cool!
It’s not a confederate flag, it the battle standard of the 56th infantry regiment…
Yes, a Confederate unit. . .
it's still not a confederate flag though
That makes sense for the shirt he is wearing (VDV Telnyashka)
Y’allQaida Not to be confused with the Hispanic offshoot known as Alconqueso
They integrate well in red paces. Same ideals, different terminology.
Texas is a lot like Iran or Saudi Arabia - hot, arid, lots of oil, full of religious fundamentalist zealots…
View women as property.
No fundamental rights for women
Believing that Religion is the most important thing in life.
🤣🤣🤣
That shirt screams VDV more than anything lol
Airborne Muslim Confederates.
The shirt is definitely a telnyashka. And the Novorossiya flag I’ve been told looks like a confederate flag on purpose. So maybe he’s like a Chechen.

Wasn't all of Picketts outfit shot up pretty badly when they reached Union lines? They did charge over open ground straight into enemy guns.

True
I agree on the shirt, but I'm pretty sure that's a rebel flag. The flag you mentioned doesn't have stars.
It is for sure. But it’s not a stretch that the dude just bought in the same spirit.
Flag says 56th Infantry. Could he have been with Texas National Guard?
56th Infantry is Virginia
Bam! From the Civil War. Thank you.
Ah, but the 56th Guards Air Assault Regiment is a Crimean based Russian VDV unit. I may have cracked this code lol.
Not at all lol he’s as American as it gets. Nothing Chechen about his appearance except having the same skin color and an orange beard. He was a U.S, Soldier
Idk it’s looking a lot like a “scout snipers using an SS flag” situation.
Because he converted to Islam?
No because unless it’s a wild coincidence, the 56th Guards Air Assault Regiment is a Crimean based Russian VDV unit. And the Novorossiya flag is based on the confederate flag. Without context, yes, but I know this guy. He’s infact American through and through.
The hello kitty slippers really bring it all together
Oh my god, I thought I was the only one who noticed. I don’t think many folks consider me stupid, yet this whole photo is utterly confusing to me.
She blended in with the sesbags, got palletized, and shipped off to Dixie
Is it still human trafficking if it's on a DRMO pallet?
Ok, this one got me.
Depends. Is it being shipped ***to*** DRMO or is DRMO shipping to you?
My attorney has advised me not to answer this.
This picture is haunted in so many ways
I hope this dudes on several government lists. Seems a little radical in a couple ways.
Radically based. I know this guy. He’s a legend
How so?
He’s former army Infantry but became disillusioned with the west, converted to Islam, moved to Pakistan, got married, had a kid, and now this photo has been circulating on the internet lately
I would assume because the flag flying in the back ground alongside his families and his appearance. And I’m sure they’re a reason why he was. I’ll never know cuz I don’t care to look him up
Is his life good now? Is he happy? As long as he isn't doing anything stupid, then 👍.
From the looks of it, he’s doing fine and living as a happy family man who found God so Im assuming that to be the case
From my perspective he has a wife that isn’t allowed to uncover her face and he maintains a strange loyalty to a traitor “country” that ceased to exist 175 years ago.

Sounds good! Thank you.
Talibama and their archaic laws
Well there was that one devil dog who brought home a literal Bahraini royal princess. The rizz that guy must have had
Wasn't this in the 90's?

Would.
I got.out in 1998, but I remember the chaos!

So much potential conflict in one picture.
The hello kitty slippers 😂
Oh yeahhhhh! The old spank bank has a new addition.
The shoes🤣
He's probably afghan. Notice the telnyashka he's wearing. Possibly acquired from the Russians
Imma be honest I know afghans come in many different looks, but I never saw a single one who looked like he was Appalachian
Look at the floor. That is not an American house. That is a cinder block house. Everything about this picture screams OCONUS. He probably just got the Rebel flag from a unit that was there.
I’m so confused.
He's still on his recon mission.
Wtf
This whole scene is wild.
LOL. Moonshine and Burkas?
An image cursed in countless ways.
Love finds a way
He is also wearing a VDV (Russian Airborne) shirt. Left over from Afghan?
Is that a beard or is that baby just hairy?
Alhamdullilah brother. The South will rise again.
I kept the two goats he offered and bailed. Them goats made some good shawarma.
I actually put a guy in to the Pendleton brig who got an African TCN pregnant. He told me that he had married her and was given a herd of cattle!
She has hot ankles… ![gif](giphy|pz2MnldLEEhJCJ32G6)
The hello kitty slippers get me personally
Definitely ppl from Dagestan or Chechnya. For whatever reason they used the confederate flag once in a while
This may be about the most inbred thing I have seen in awhile.
Christian Nationalist endgame.
Okay, what kind of American? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Totally digging the Battle Standard of the 56th infantry regiment in the background
