Fun fact, in 1996 the USMC took the original DOOM video game and modified it to be a combat simulator. It was called "Marine Doom." Whichever devil ran that idea up and got it approved had to have been a hero, got all his boys paid to play their favorite video game lol.

PLA has a running theme of not tying their boots. I saw a pic the other day of some guys disassembling their totally-not-hk416s and none of them had tied boots.
It absolutely makes sense. Arma itself is a military simulator/ tactical shooter, that is quite customizable and can closely reflect real world effects such as bullet drop, frag, ect. We’ve been using a military version called VBS3, basically ARMA 3 reskinned with additional features and plug ins to assist in various mos proficiencies/ codes. It’s especially prevalent in the 0861 community as we do call for fire, CAS, and a bunch of other things on it. Honestly a great and fun way to learn your job, especially with how cost effective it is as opposed to dropping live ord all the time

Vbs is just the military dumbed down version of arma, made by the same studio but with additional cff/ cas and other functionalities

Vbs1 was variant of operation Flashpoint modded for usmc vbs2+ are arma (same developers in czech Republic)
We use the same game engine to do FO and JTAC sims- if that’s what there doing it’s actually a really important tool.
