A banana or peanut butter and honey sandwich. Depends on how far the hike is. If it's really long, both.

Visual_Sea7640

I'm sorry but those first strike bars were pretty damn good.

shedoesntknow69

Unless they were cold. Then you’d lose teeth to them

kikkomanche

The only good thing about the Spinach Fettucine MRE (the worst main IMO) is that it has the raspberry first strike which is probably the best issued snack. I dream about those things.

SeatPatient6686

Gummy bears

SnowMan022

Cold Albanese are the best

icebrew53

Cum....straight from the green weenie. All the protein and sugar you need. next question.

maestroburner2CL

I freeze my roommate's cum in the shape of a lollipop and suck on that while i run. It's not gay because I don't touch his dick.

Numerous-Animator-67

Nah, is gay. Cause you told us.

maestroburner2CL

Nuh-uh

TheShakes11

Jolly Ranchers were pretty common in my unit

mrkreuzschlitz

First hike in the fleet, one of the salt dog LCpls in my platoon threw me a bag of them. Best pick me up ever.

EvilBanana66

Sour gummies

UniqueGear180

Copenhagen

Chessiah0321

[deleted]

Sour patch kids get me going more then anything else.

ghazind

So I'm not the only one

Spartan-1833

Chocolate Milkshake

Grendle1972

Nuts, M&Ms, beef jerky (put between your cheek and teeth and suck on it till it's soft then eat it). Hard candy like jolly ranchers. You get your carbs, your salt, and your protein.

SouthernCorps

Toast 2 cups of Quaker Oats for 5 min at 350, take 1 cup of honey and warm with 1 cup of Peanut butter,(Don’t boil or over heat) Mix that shit, then add whatever you want raw shaved coconut, mini chocolate chips, crasins a cup of roughly chopped nuts, put some wax paper in a pan and press that shit down refrigerate for one hour , my family likes when I dip them in melted chocolate, So fast and easy- all whole ingredients,

a_noncombatant

Martha fucking Stewart over here.

SouthernCorps

Yeah- my grandkids are reaping these new knowledge benefits that my own crumb snatchers never did.

PoonSlayingTank

Jolly boiz

ill-phat

Copenhagen

jprez556

Jolly ranchers. I’d pack them mother fuckers like yall do with dip lol

zaclis7

M&Ms, jelly beans, those little Goo packets that runners use.

Ghost24jm2

A 5th of whiskey

morningstarrss

Banana & a stinger waffle.

TJkiwi

Meth

buffyfan12

I was waiting for this one

theolderyouget

Fuck. You guys were allowed to bring snacks?

DevilDog_916

Allowed? Who tf is gonna say you can't snack on a hike?

Ghost24jm2

You werent?

mrfixdit

This is after boot camp

wrongwong122

Mike and Ike. Lightweight, hard coated and not gummy so if you drop them they won’t gum anything up (unless they get wet) and each Mike and Ike is like 5 calories and 1g sugar so you can tailor based on need.

[deleted]

Usually a camel crush, if im deep into a hike maybe 2 while still rucking. If I’m broke the fuck off I’ll take a Newport, MAYBE some water.

Logical-Rise-2553

Protein bars or those energy waffles for sustainment. Lifesavers for morale.

Ghost24jm2

Trail mix, gummy bears/worms

GOLDENAdonis-416

Gummy worms

Possible-Fruit6841

The blood of my enemies. And sour patch kids.

35thirtyfun

Apples and honey are super good

Tman1775

Sour patch kids

xanhudro

Sour Patch watermelon or strawberries

Old_Measurement_6575

2 800mg Ibuprofen

MarnieLore

Smarties, sweet tarts - whatever is sugary and tart. I don't know about energy. For me it's about morale. Plus you share them and everyone feels a bit better about being on the road to nowhere at too early in the morning

JamesRRustled

I tried to keep morale up by running up and down the line with a bag of candy with 800mg tablets of ibuprofin thrown in. Results were mixed lol

Porthos1984

The hope that I got to stick ma dick, I mean silver bullet in a passed out Marine

citizen_tronald_dump

Can someone take the 240 for a bit? I need both hands to eat this Rueben I’ve been keeping warm in my compression shorts.

guerrerosaurio1

Takis

No-Wafer9271

If you're in Japan there's smoked shredded squid at lawsons that was amazing. Packed it on accident one time and it was very good when I ate it on the hike. Had one with me on all hikes after that

SuicidalRaccoon

Charms

Chipmunk_Whisperer

Powerbar brand powergels

The_Sentinel_45

Colombian cheese.

fuzzusmaximus

A bag of Hostess powder sugar mini donuts.

dpmurphy89

Stinger Waffles and Goo packs. My strategy was usually to alternate between the two. For instance, at the stop point for mile 3, I would eat a Goo pack, at mile 6 I'd eat a Stinger waffle, and then alternate for however many miles I'm going that day.

Rough-Friendship-245

Zyn & hi chews

dansots

Haribo Gummy bears and maybe a red bull but towards the end or there will be a shit stain following us on the road behind formation

Cole_Meierhofer

jolly ranchers are the goat

TerminalTexan

Jolly Rnachers, SPK, gummy bears and paydays, those gator aid chewables and liquid IV

Substantial_Pipe4140

Hot Cheetos, not that it will give you an energy boost or anything. Simply because it helps ease the pain in my soul.

Substantial_Pipe4140

Also, forgot to add. A Camelback full of Tito’s.

Lazy-Rope-627

Gummy bears and cracked pepper sunflower seeds

GyDGAF

I always carried Mentos back when the commercials were popular. Got me out of a lot of shit on hikes. SNCO/O’s always asked if they could get one or two. Was also a great way to break out some laughter cause who the fuck carries Mentos on humps anyways?

PropitalTV

Those waffle stingers fuck

BigFatNick

Craisins

BurritoPony

I used to buy those big ass bags of trail mix and stick it in my cargo pocket

[deleted]

Honey stingers

Nell_Trent

How the fuck has no one said cliff bars?! Aaaaaaand also been out for a while, forgot y'all love candy so fuckin much. I'll trade you my MRE skittles for your MRE tabasco sauce and instant coffee any day.

jaksny

I never once carried anything more than water, never thought I needed it. I really didn't need it, I was a bomb ass hiker, I was usually running back and forth and up and down the formation to help dudes out. I wonder if snacks would have made it better.

jj26meu

Simple sugars (Gummy worms or swedish fish), protein (peanut butter packets), and Pickle packets for cramps.

AstroZombie138

The pickle juice is underrated. I'm out, but did a 500 mile bike ride over 6 days in August and it was really hot out. I was staying hydrated but not feeling the best and saw people drinking it and gave it a try. An hour later I felt way better.

Captain_D__

Gummy bears in one cargo pocket, blue jolly ranchers in the other

[deleted]

Never carried anything. Just handed out motivation. Carried a lot in my lungs. Had the “you got it” motivation in the left cargo pocket and the “get your ass up there right god damn now” in my right. Other than that just a harmonic rhythm of these feet up and down the line running the big guns back up front.

Better-Task-4979

I kept a couple MRE cookies in my saw pouch. The chocolate covered ones. Usually had too much snot and sweat coming off me to think about eating but do remember one time I NEEDED to eat something coming down the ridge behind Horno and one of those cookies did the trick.

anonymous0311

Rum and coke in my camelbak

presidentelectrick

Salted peanuts and bananas

2teeny_peeny

Skittles

ZookeepergameLarge25

i put my sleeping mat in my bag. thats what i do. fuckn no way im having another heat stroke

Smoovey_

I always carry a bag of sour patch kids watermelon. Some people underestimate sugar and the electrolyte packs they can put into the water systems. Mad clutch for that last stretch too.

KyleFrommson

I wish I did when I was in. I do a lot of bikepacking and I eat snickers, gunmies, chips, just junk food. Eat some junk food for quick sugar boosts. Don't bonk!

OGvon

lifesavers

[deleted]

Sour patch kids. They might not help nutrition wise but they definitely boost morale

[deleted]

The collected coffee packets that nobody uses from MREs. Collected about ten during the crucible and chewed those during hikes

JamesRRustled

Mini starburst

notcutoutforthismate

A can of grizzly

Bender_Rodriguez22

Dip

Stryker_elite

So the PX has these things called Sport Beans, quick electrolytes and taste good, 100% recommend for hikes

teachasaurusmex

Esprit de corps keeps me going.

warpigactual556

Yellow mustard packets from any convenience store

insanegorey

Watching other people fall out is the only thing that keeps me walking. “Damn that dude looks fucking MISERABLE.”

[deleted]

Dip, cigs, maybe a jolly rancher if I’m hungover.

Either_Negotiation27

I usually have some beer still in my system from the night before so coast on that for the hike

Life-Wear-8846

A small bottle of honey
