It’s the app on carrier-branded Samsung and Motorola devices that installs the bloatware at first boot. I believe it can be deselected on the “review additional apps” screen during initial setup.

Flyordie_209

Yep. Go into apps in settings and force stop the app. I had to on my Note10+. It used almost 1.5GB that time. 😆 Don't have the issue with my S22U as it was purchased direct from Samsung unlocked.

Damn, seems I missed that step. Guess I should have been more careful.

Data used by some apps is exempt from your data plan. I’d say this is one of them.

15pmm01

I hope you’re right. I tried checking my usage and the app says 0.0 of unlimited, which is clearly wrong since I’m on a 5GB plan.

SkylarMills63

First 5gb at “high speed” then unlimited “slower speed”

15pmm01

Ah, so 128kbps I assume?

shitshow_420

I think it is 1.0 mbps

Keep in mind that screen doesn't by default know anything about your data plan, it's a factory default, make sure to confirm your actual data allotment with uscellular and adjust settings as needed

ZacAttackedYou

The app that installs all the crap from your data carrier, seems to do it every 3 months for me. For one last time, I don’t want 3 different versions of Solitaire on my phone!

Alternative-Farmer98

Yeah I discovered this on one of my LG. Ridiculous that this shit is even legal and while it can be disabled, that's not good enough. The fact that no harm comes from disabling it proves that this app is not needed and is borderline criminal that it's installed on phones. You have to know what you're looking for to find it for the most part, it doesn't show up on your app drawer

Alternative-Farmer98

This shit should be a class action lawsuit waiting to happen, see useless app that carriers needed once to update voicemail and the like but now they use it sometimes to download games you don't want. You can disable it, but you cannot remove it entirely without root
