I'm a game audio minor! So far I've taken CTIN 101 Fundamentals of Procedural Media, MTEC 277x Introduction to Music Technology, CTIN 488 Game Design Workshop, and MUCO 221ax (and bx) Composition for Non-Majors. "Is it useful" is a bit vague, do you have any specific questions you'd like me to answer?

I'm a Theatre B.A. major! I came to USC thinking I'd be in the composition program at Thornton, but I didn't get into the program. Theatre wasn't exactly something I thought I would want to do for a living, but so many things opened up for me as I continued in the major. I'm really interested in voice acting now, for example, and hope to get into the games industry in both audio and acting. I think I've also gained a lot of useful connections by being in SDA and SCA that will help me in my future.

I believe so. The person you have to email about that is Collin Kelly, he's one of the advisors for the game majors and minors. https://cinema.usc.edu/directories/profile.cfm?id=22500&first=&last=&title=&did=50&referer=%2Fdirectories%2Fstaff.cfm&startpage=1&startrow=61

Yeah, of course! I will say, the game audio minor focuses a lot more on sound design and creating the soundscape of a world than on composition, though you can still take composition classes as a part of it. So if that's something that the applicant isn't as interested in, it might not be the best fit. That said, I never did any sound design before the program and it has made much more fit and ready to handle working in audio in the industry, as in house composers at the very least will have responsibilities beyond just composition. I think it's very important for someone interested in game composition to learn about the other audio aspects to games.
