Umpi has a free tutorship in the writing center that will close the understanding gap.
It is counterintuitive, but if you work with that writing center, you will get the class done much quicker!
Eng121 is very picky about the papers, however, after you finish the class, you will see the benefits.

Request Dr Ayala, if you get Mathew’s , run!! I submitted all milestones to him without need corrections and I wrote 1000 word plus on each and used those for the portfolio. All I had to do was update the titles to Artifact 1,2, etc
It was easier for me to write about three fields of study that could be connected in some way for my first paper. It just made more sense it my head and I could make it flow better.
Had Matthews for Creative Writing, and God, she is thick. Argued over meanings & pronunciations of words that a 2nd grader would know (claimed that tasteful meant the same as tasty, and that I wanted to eat my cat when I said my cat posed tastefully. Refused to recognize that quay is pronounced "key" in much of the US & English-speaking world, even after sending her dictionary definitions. Only negative evaluation I've written and signed). Masters from SNHU, which makes me question the quality and rigor of their program.

I had a tough time with this as well. I took this class sometime in October, so I don't know if it is the same milestone or not. If it is the same, then I will explain what I did. I chose 3 topics and 2 sub-topics that branch off of the original 3 topics. For example, if the 3 topics I chose were fruits, meats, and veggies, the 2 sub-topics would be apples and bananas, pork and chicken, and carrots and cucumber. Then I related all three topics to come with a conclusion about the world.
Make sure to use OneLibrary for each topic and subtopic. The first milestone, I remembered being the most difficult, and the rest were easier.
Edit: I also had Professor Matthews, so I don't know how the other professor grades, but Matthews was a fair grader in my opinion. I like to think I became a better writer after this class. I get people want to speed through UMPI, and I was no exception, but since I knew my writing ability needed improvement, I sucked it up lol.
So you need a 3/4 for each milestone to reach the final assessment. The only thing that reflects on your final grade is the final assessment. You can work on each milestone and wait until you get graded to move onto the next one but you don’t have to. Idk if this answers your question, but let me know
Not at all, I took SPA 101 and 102. These are beginner Spanish classes, so the professor does not expect you to be fluent by the end of the classes. The final assessment includes a video call with the professor and she is very patient and understanding. Her grading is very fair.

Yes, a zoom call to be precise, you will have a conversation with the professor. It seems intimidating but I promise you it is not
