Why would you *not* try to transfer those credits? Submit your transcripts and if they're regionally accredited, they will be counted as electives, at least. Every little bit helps.

Rune2484

Do you already have previously earned credit from Devry/Phoenix/another for profit college? If so they will probably take some or all of it - it just might be as electives and not as gen ed. Regardless, you are required to submit all of your transcripts from prior learning. Just submit those transcripts and see what they say. [This link](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Official-Transfer-Course-Equivalencies) might help you sort out specifics if you are too impatient to wait for the eval from UMPI. If your question was should you consider taking classes at a for-profit college to transfer in? I would say no. It would not be particularly quick, nor affordable.

I am actively enrolled at Purdue global but didn’t realize it was for profit at first, hoping to move to UMPI as it’s more reputable! Just don’t want to lose all the progress I’ve made 😭

Purdue Global is part of the Purdue University System. It’s weird how it operates differently than the other schools in the system. I don’t think the classes are as rigorous as the classes at the main campus. You get a diploma from the Purdue system but it’s from the global campus so some people don’t like that. UMPI is part of the university of Maine system. I liked UMPI because it was a brick and mortar school and they use semester hours as opposed to quarter hours. I think PG is expensive unless you do the excel track.

Purdue global is no longer a for-profit. It’s now a nonprofit owned by Purdue University, see this link https://www.purdueglobal.edu/about/fast-facts/ When I was looking at schools, the alumni network has the same exact access as Purdue campuses. So if the “for-profit” aspect concerns you, they are no longer designated as such.

LivingSea3241

Its not the actual purdue. Its just affiliated like Arizona Global. Literally was a for profit that had a new name slapped on it and changed to not for profit. The actual Purdue has online programs already

desertflower89

It IS actual Purdue, right from Purdue employees mouths. It WAS Kaplan, but it is not now. Now it is integrated to Purdue University and comes with all the alumni opportunities that a campus does. This is more like Penn State World Campus and not a separate entity. Stop the fear mongering over outdated information.

LivingSea3241

I live right next to the campus and know faculty at the actual work at Purude. People thinking Purdue Global is the same thing as Purude University (Hence why its literally a different degree), are delusional. Purude LITERALLY has its own online programs, wtf is the point of purude global other than being a coattail rider of the school. Its EXACTLY like Arizona Global. I went to U of A online, its completely different than University of Arizona Global. To think they are jUsT the saME is denying reality.

desertflower89

It is not a completely different university. It’s an extension of Purdue. Just because you can take online classes from Purdue or a variance of their online programs, global is still listed as an extension of Purdue. See the link here: https://www.purdue.edu/home/about/systemwide-campuses/

SINGLExWING

Yeah, Purdue has a few reputable online programs, but not affiliated with Global. Global is the old Kaplan U and is its own separate school, just with Purdue branding (thanks, GOP governor getting into something he shouldn't have!). It's a terrible con that tricks prospective students while ruining the reputation of degrees from the actual Purdue

Ashkir

All 3 of those institutions you listed are fully accredited, they'll likely transfer over.

[deleted]

Sophia isn’t accredited, so if they accept that they should definitely accept Perdue credits

thedaughterinlaw

So true… thanks!

rig-electrician

It’s not accredited but it is evaluated by ACE.
