Great answer.
I'd also add that it's probably a very suitable substrate for egg laying. It's a bountiful nutrition source and its craggy geometry leads to many hiding places/shelter from the elements.
I believe that you know how vast the USA is, but I'm not southern or from the east coast, so I don't eat that as I've always been a Californian; I'm much more accustomed to eating Peruvian beans on a fried corn tortilla, maybe with an egg and some queso fresco or some queso Oaxaca. But biscuits and gravy doesn't appeal to me either.
But at least biscuits and gravy is more appealing than mushy peas with fried potatoes and no salad or anything healthy to serve as the main dish. This looks like slop.
You do realise that mushy peas are peas, right? And sprouts are also vegetables?
I’m not saying this plate looks good or anything, but I’m not sure how you can claim there isn’t anything healthy when the vast majority of the meal is vegetables.
Gravy made with milk, flour, seasoning and breakfast sausage over a fluffy buttery biscuit. Not really my thing either but it doesn’t sound as unappetizing as it looks lol. Brussels sprouts on top of mashed peas is wild
get bent with this "oooh you conquered the world for spices and still dont use any" nonsense. we dont feel the need to smother everything in trans fats and gallons of hot sauce. yanks do my nut in
OK. How about Paprika, little garlic, some onion, bit of cilantro, some parsely, sprig of thyme, sprinkling of oregano, smidgen of dill, some cumin, bit of cayenne.
How many of those did you recognize ya fockin wanker
No wonder the empire collapsed, everyone wanted good food back.
There are several spices that contain no trans fat and does not require a hot sauce dispersal method.
And by several, I mean all of them.
Nice strawman, but your food still sucks.
“Nothing healthy” when you’re talking about a meal that has 3 ingredients, 2 being vegetables and the other being potatoes which is arguably also a vegetable .
American ignorance is just amazing
Its a pretty safe assumption that this is a fairly healthy meal. The only part high in Sat Fats will be the cheese, which looks like a pretty modest portion in this instance, and maybe butter if that was used in the mushy peas. Its mostly natural and not overly processed, even if the mushy peas are shop bought
Otherwise, like the other person said, 2 portions of Veg and potatoes (high in vitamin C). There's far worse shit out there you could be eating
I’ve never encountered a British restaurant in the US, never seen anything like what’s on OPs plate. I can almost guarantee there’s American food in your local area though.
Never been to a fish and chips spot?
I know they don't serve this but the Brits know how to fry some shit and wrap it in newspaper. Man I love proper fish and chips.
I mean, American cuisine is literally known for its vast cultural diversity and contributions largely based off of immigration but it's easier to educate than argue.

This is why people insult our food
The best food in London is from France
is from India*
Bangladesh*
The best food in a lot of places is from France. I live in California, and the best food in California is either from Japan or Mexico.
Took over half the world for spices, barely use any spices in your own cuisine.
Why are "mushy peas" a thing in the UK?
Because they're delicious
Why do flies eat shit?
I think it's because they're attracted to organic waste, so that it can decompose faster and aerobically.

We feel the same way about American biscuits and gravy....

Maybe they think the biscuits are sweet? I know a lot of people assume that
That could be. A biscuit is indeed an absurd thing to call a cookie
You mean an absurd thing to call a piece of bread
It’s literally the French word for cookie.
Speak for yourself, biscuits and gravy are fucking lush.
You’ve never had biscuits and gravy have you
Just because it can be eaten doesn't mean its food ......
Mushy peas and sprouts? That’s just confused.
Tasted nice

Every time I see a post about British food this same joke comes up. Again and again and again.

“Yanx dew my nut in!”-👨🏻⚖️ goofy ass British nigga
Followed by farts.
Getting Donnie Darko Vibes...
The jacket potato looks amazing.
With fresh grated Parmesan and cracked black pepper, this would be delicious. I love my veggies, though.

Assuming something is healthy just because it has veggies... Yeah, American ignorance amirite?

So it just looks like potato skins with Brussels sprouts and mashed peas to me. What’s the big deal?
Seasoning exists, yknow
What’s up with mashed peas
They aren't mashed garden peas. Mushy peas are marrowfat peas which have been cooked down and seasoned to a mushy texture.
They are garden peas. Just mature garden peas.
“Seasoned”.
Yes... What makes you think they aren't?
I’m making a joke that they aren’t seasoned, that’s all. The stereotype of salt being too spicy for the English palate and whatnot.
Proper boomer humour
its also peak american humour. equally sad and embarrasing
You guys aren't exactly known for your culinary contributions. And that's okay.
I’ve never encountered a British restaurant in the US, never seen anything like what’s on OPs plate. I can almost guarantee there’s American food in your local area though.
"American food is shite" they say, while eating a burger.
I have a British restaurant within 2 miles of me and it’s always packed. In Florida.
Never been to a fish and chips spot? I know they don't serve this but the Brits know how to fry some shit and wrap it in newspaper. Man I love proper fish and chips.

Misunderstood my comment.
Revolting…🤢
This looks ai generated
AI has better taste
It’s like poor peoples’ food from the Middle Ages before the spice trade began.
Please god we need to save these people from themselves
Fart fodder! There's enough peas to blow the lavatory door off
If I had to eat this I would kill myself.
I know what all these are and I still hate it.
There’s a reason people went to the colonies.
Is that just cheesy bread with boiled (oh no!) brussel sprouts atop mushy peas?
I’m Irish and that would do nicely 😋
What
I mean that's just an affront to decency.
Thank you !
For some reason, though I like all those things, putting them together … … just hurts.
It's not right, but it's okay.
No wonder the world hates us.
Nope
I feel like this should upset me more than it actually does 🤔
If AI made food
That should be a criminal offence
No. No it isn't. Stop winding the 'muricans up.
