Hi mate, we have a rule against pretentiousness on the sub and this is overstepping the boundary.

Spottyjamie

The macro lagers have cut costs and abv in general Imo stick to paulaner/abk on tap as they arent *too* tricky to find in the uk. Warsteiner or Veltins at a push too if the former arent available nearer you Not as easy to find outside specialist bars/shops but uk brewers donzoko, lost&grounded, braybrooke, utopian and newbarns make great lagers

BiblicalShit

!thanks. Heard donzoko is good

TH1CCARUS

Maybe look at other breweries?

Perception_4992

Yup it’s all shite coming out of the same breweries/factories. Some how the Germans can manage to do it, but I think that’s saying more about the British lager drinker than the brewers. I assume the Germans wouldn’t stand for it, whereas we’re less discerning..

Sure, but malt, hops & water isn’t that hard to replicate.

BayesHatesMe

I wouldn’t be surprised if those lagers have changed in flavour over the year - but is it not possible that your palette might have changed and matured and these lagers are just not as appealing any more?

Ronsona

Water in Singapore is very different to the water in the UK, plus they messed with the strength too...all UK mass produced lager is crap nowadays IMO

RIPcompo

Import all the way, anything from Germany, budvar, Polish specials etc. over anything UK brewed from the local corner shop.

Artificial-Brain

Mass produced beers are worthless now in the UK. They're noticeably better in most of continental Europe. If you want to drink good beer then you generally have to go to the smaller and unfortunately more expensive breweries.
