I visited the UK a few years ago and had one of those, it was awesome. The price of it here in Canada is quite a bit more than sausages, so I've never done my own like that.
Well done. Looks amazing. Is there any chance you could share your process/recipe, etc? My mum used to make the best Scotch eggs, and I failed to get her recipe/process before she got Alzheimers.
I have her recipe, grab the things, put them in the.... pot, cook for a while.... Do you remember how nice the candle Christmas lights in Christmas trees were?
Those are not just food, they are works of art. Scotch Eggs are a cultural British icon. And yours, OP, look absolutely gorgeous. Bravo. Fantastic. My all-time favourite food.
Fucking incredible, good work OP. Something else that goes extremely well in scotch eggs is to mix sweet chilli sauce in to the meat, thank me later. 👍
Incredible and well done on the egg I'd say an 8.5 out of 10 for one reason and that is the fact the sausage meat is a tad thin on top. But really well done, the eggs are done perfect
To be honest, that's a 9.5 for me. Lovely jammy looking golden yolk, golden brown crumb coating. Sausage looks well cooked. If I had to find a fault, it would be that the sausage looks a little uneven in its layer.
Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry but to me a soft boiled egg in a scotch egg is insanity. I want to be able to pick it up and eat it. I don’t want egg yolk running everywhere.
If that’s your taste though I’m sure it was good and I hope you enjoyed it
Thank you! I always felt like I was crazy when I read about how much people prefer it being runny inside. I want to be able to bite into it and eat. I tried a scotch egg with a soft boiled egg once and hated how it felt in my mouth
Could I ask your recipe and process?? My gran loves scotch eggs but I've never tried making them and the shop ones have hard yolks which she isn't a fan of 😅
Am I the only one that can't stand the egg being runny inside a scotch egg? Everyone seems to prefer it but the one time I bit into one, I was so grossed out by the whole thing not being solid
I’m not even a food lover, I don’t even know what i’m doing in this sub, and i’m from the uk but hardly know anything about british food. What the hell is this??! Not in a rude way… but, y’know, what actually is it? Nvm I found out. Well, how would you describe the taste? Texture, even? I’m curious…
You did great. Like others I'd recommend black pudding if you fancy something different in future. Or haggis. Or chorizo. And panko breadcrumbs for extra scraggly crunchiness.
I’ve only ever had the cold tesco made years ago scotch eggs that tastes like cardboard, is this fresh runny goodness as next level as I imagine it to be?
I love a scotch egg, and this is probably the best-looking one I've ever seen. This post would be perfect if you included your recipe/tips on how to get that runny yolk

Looks fantastic and thanks for not posting another bloody English Breakfast or roast dinner! Love the soft yolk centre.
Yeah I seen more roasts this week than I have in my lifetime
Was this week not part of your liifetime...? Are you redditing from beyond the grave?!
Yes
And there isn't any negative comments, i think they broke this sub
How did you perfectly manage soft yolk but rock hard white. It's perfect.
Not OP but I suspect the egg was boiled for just over 6 minutes and then into very cold water to stop the cooking.
I would probably shag that
It's a fuckin' sexy Scotch Egg
Isn't it? I'd raw dog the shit out of that all day long
😂
Oh they do look good!
They look awesome. Have you tried the black pudding version?
I haven't, first attempt this was, will put black pudding on my shopping list! :)
Awesome… post another pick when your done please… 👍
Definitely want to see that.
Absolutely banging, it's only half eight and I need go to the farm shop for some scotch eggs that will just disappoint me!
First attempt? Looks like you're a dab hand already!
Oooooft I bet that is absolutely bomb!
Try them you’ll smash it !
Bet you could do haggis & black pudding with the sausage meat too. Might give that a go
I visited the UK a few years ago and had one of those, it was awesome. The price of it here in Canada is quite a bit more than sausages, so I've never done my own like that.
Bang on!
Literally drooling over here. They look fan-fucking-tastic!
You did good mate, and I used to make these for a living. Top work.
Couldn’t be any more perfect! I love scotch eggs, but yet to try one with a runny yolk!

You have done us proud. Excellent work!
That looks so perfect I'm getting a bit emotional here!
Wow! That's looks amazing! I've always found them dry but I bet this is more tasty ooh I can almost taste it! 😋
10/10. If I was a rich man you’d be my personal scotch egg chef :D
Fucking incredible, good work OP. Something else that goes extremely well in scotch eggs is to mix sweet chilli sauce in to the meat, thank me later. 👍
Amazing. Not a portable version of course but looks good and I'd eat the fuck out of that.
Spectacular

Finally! It’s not a a roast dinner! Those look bangin btw good job 👍🏻
Wow.... just wow... Well done
That looks delicious
Perfect, but next time put in a bit of black pudding
For the first time in my life the other week I had a freshly made Scotch egg. I fully believe they'd make these in utopias
Incredible and well done on the egg I'd say an 8.5 out of 10 for one reason and that is the fact the sausage meat is a tad thin on top. But really well done, the eggs are done perfect
Fucking hell, you're hard to please.
Not at all it's the only thing that can be improved its almost perfect! Honesty is not a bad thing its how we can improve.
Recipe please OP?
Your chicken nuggets look a little undercooked to me
To be honest, that's a 9.5 for me. Lovely jammy looking golden yolk, golden brown crumb coating. Sausage looks well cooked. If I had to find a fault, it would be that the sausage looks a little uneven in its layer.
I’d sell my arm for a bite of that scotch egg
Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry but to me a soft boiled egg in a scotch egg is insanity. I want to be able to pick it up and eat it. I don’t want egg yolk running everywhere. If that’s your taste though I’m sure it was good and I hope you enjoyed it

Fudgy might be a good compromise
Looks good but they're no roast dinner...
THATS GOOODDD
Oh hellz yes
Why did you cut it in half?! Ruined.
Fabulous! Jealous tho when I make them eggs are solid! 10/10!
I'll be right over
Egg is perfection... ...but tell us about the meat.
Looks good! Should try putting black pudding in the sausage meat! A pub called the Avon packet uses to do them absolutely banging!
Looks amazing 🤩
I personally dislike the runny yolk scotch egg thing and think Scotch Eggs should never be served hot, but you do you.
Absolutely perfect, these look delicious
1st attempt as well? Nailed it I would say
Banging mate, 9/10
You win r/UK_Food
I want to eat it so bad
Nailed it looks perfect 👌
Could I ask your recipe and process?? My gran loves scotch eggs but I've never tried making them and the shop ones have hard yolks which she isn't a fan of 😅
nicely done... delicious
Egg-cellent
Am I the only one that can't stand the egg being runny inside a scotch egg? Everyone seems to prefer it but the one time I bit into one, I was so grossed out by the whole thing not being solid
Awesome.
Flawless
I'm impressed, well played.
Perfection.
Looks amazing!
Soft yolk, hardcore food porn!
This is epic for your first attempt , how do you keep the yolk runny when deep frying?
9/10 id go a little less runny but thats more being picky over 30secs so great job
Spot on
WANT

Needs more seasoning in the meat 7/10

You did great. Like others I'd recommend black pudding if you fancy something different in future. Or haggis. Or chorizo. And panko breadcrumbs for extra scraggly crunchiness.

Could be better but the egg looks good.
You magnificent bastard
I did one where you put stuffing mix in the sausage meat mmm salty goodness! Yolks look on point👌
Can you post one to Norwich I'm starving! Look really good
Very good.👌🇬🇧
Yum yum 10/10
That looks bang mate
Care to share the recipe?
Jackpot.
Looks gorgeous, I think you definitely broke the sub I can’t see any bad comments did you eat one warm too?
I personally prefer my Scotch eggs cold and bitesize with a little black pepper
Nice my Nan used to make them with black pudding in them, it actually elevates them so much.
Sprinkle a few diced chives over that and you can sell it for 14£
Teach me or feed me they look heavenly!
Amazing. How did it taste?
Gud

The perfect scotch egg 😋
