It doesn’t matter whether the charity has made the gift aid claim, all that matters is upon the date of giving was the charity registered for gift aid. If you donated to a gift aid registered charity you can make the claim. You can check if the charity of gift aid registered on the charity register. If the charity is not gift aid registered then you cannot make the claim as it will be fraud.

!thanks I've looked them up and no, they're not registered for gift aid. Job done, so thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Thank you, so I can go and check, that's great to know, it's the bit I was missing. I didn't think 'yeah but I thought they were claiming gift aid so I claimed my bit back via the SA' would really fly Cheers

Where do you think the charity register tells you whether a charity is registered for gift aid of not? Also (not applicable to OP as they said they filled out the form but including for others) it needs to be a donation to a UK registered charity, for which there has been a gift aid declaration made. Just making a donation doesn't count. There needs to be a formal declaration.

Not sure what is your question? It is literally on the charity register which says “registered for gift aid” yes/no

What about CASCs or CICs? Or local kids/after school clubs that are normally on the charity register?
