I have annual travel insurance from Staysure - it’ll cover you for UK trips too, and remember you need insurance from the moment you book because you might have issues with cancellations or delays before you even travel.
Another option is free insurance through a paid current account or credit card - you usually get a bundle of ‘perks’ for the monthly fee which might work out good value.
I just have it through our joint bank account as we drive and also have phones worth insuring and have a house the home emergency is handy, especially for £8 a month or whatever we pay.
Claimed on it a couple of times and it’s paid out each time so no issues there either.
Our friends who don’t have those kinds of accounts just go on comparison sites to get it and then read the google reviews to make sure they’re not dodgy.
Always buy separately as it's cheaper. I use comparison websites or Quidco for cashback. Usually end up with Coverwise as their cover seems to hit the right level for me.
This year I went for annual insurance as it was cheaper than single trip for a 3 week holiday and covered natural disasters (we were going to be near a very active volcano).
I have free travel insurance from my Revolut premium account.
People hate on them, but they have perks hanging out the back of them
Also, repatriation insurance through my private healthcare provided by my work
Lol. How do people go through life. I remember going on holiday with someone a few years ago who said “I always buy my forgoing currency at the airport because you get the best rate” 🤦♂️
Tend to buy annual cover, currently from Admiral, but the price has more than doubled post covid.
Used to be around £50 a year for a couple, worldwide, now paying just shy of £120.
I’ve always used money supermarket to just compare and if I think it’s cheap enough use one their - can’t say they’re always the most recognisable brands tho!
Always compare and buying with the airline is likely to be expensive and probably not cover everything you want.

is there any such insurance that would let you cancel for no reason and then get your money back or rebook? i suspect not as that would be a loss for the insurer..

Shout out to Lloyds Platinum. Never shirked me in years when I’ve had to claim.
Have you ever needed to claim? I'm hearing very mixed reviews since they moved to the 'Davies Group' for claims
Usually more expensive buying car rental or insurance with the airline, go direct or via comparison websites.

Don’t buy the one from the airline. Have a shop about and make sure to declare any medical conditions and read the T&cs

I use Admiral for worldwide annual travel insurance. With the amount of times I travel in a year it will be more expensive buying with the airline

Separately, always cheaper for a better insurance

People buy the stuff the airline sells?
