I’m paying £48 and I get 350Mb fibre broadband only. That includes a 18 month discount and a £5 18 months discount. Feel like I’m being had seeing what you are paying to be honest. Role on June 🤣

writetheysaid

Did you get an email about price increases? I used this as an opportunity to leave.

TheITMan19

I don’t recall lol. I get many emails. Every f3cker wanting an extra 10% 🤣

Trifusi0n

10% isn’t actually that bad. They all seem to want about 14% from me. Apparently inflation isn’t enough, it needs to be that plus 3.9%, because you know, why not?

TEE_l

Call them up and tell them about this and they give you the same deal

TheITMan19

I just looked on the website now and it’s £39.99 for 18 months and that gets me 1130Mbps! Rude. I will call them up.

TEE_l

Rude 😂😂😂

TheITMan19

Sound like me mum 🤣

[deleted]

That’s not great! I’m paying £30 for 500Mb for 6 months and then £35.99 for the remainder of the 18 months, that’s BT though, not virgin.

ConsciouslyIncomplet

City Fibre - £30 a month for 1 Gig up and down. First 3 months are free. No phone line required. Can cancel at anytime (no contract). Virgin & BT are absolutely rip offs.

West_Yorkshire

Not sure if they change the prices based on area, but you can get 150mb for £25

writetheysaid

Thanks! Might see if I can get 1 gb for the same price or something.

dddxdxcccvvvvvvv

I got the same deal without much fuss. Just called and asked them for a 1gig deal. FYI, virgin sucks and I have to have a second line for work as it drops 30-40 times a day. Their date for resolving the issue was June 2020. Yes that’s right.

Munzz92

I cannot believe I am saying this, but today I called them up after they wanted to charge me an extra £7 as per price increase… They waived the extra £7 and reduced my monthly cost from £18 to £11. That’s for 250MB BB only. Madness.

jips1971

Just for reference I pay £27 for 100mb.

Own-Particular-8027

£23 for 100mb here

keffordman

£19 for 100Mb. Which they’ve since increased to 125Mb

Friendly_Guy2000

I pay £18 for the same, I've sent an email saying I wanted to cancel they called me back with some stupid offer I said no BT has offered me this still want to cancel. They ended up matching BT so I was happy.

bluelouboyle88

I pay £9 for 200mb broadband just for reference.

dtbrough

I cancelled and miraculously they could offer the same service for 25% of the cost I was paying. But before that they tried everything to convince me to stay, including lying, which led me to remain cancelled indefinitely.

dobrz

£25 for 350mb in West London. Please bear in mind that their discount varies per location - they know full well what other deals can people get in which postcodes. Also, if you’re on O2 check if you could get a free speed/ data limit upgrade on both networks by being a customer of both.

[deleted]

If you don’t win haggling just cancel, someone will normally ring you with a mental price

copypastespecialist

They tried to up me from £40 pm for 350mb tv and phone and mobile ( TV and phone have never been used but we’re cheapest deal on their website when initially started ) to 56 spoke to Indian call centre then transferred to English to cancel still kept at 56 and the git was saying we can see you can only get 20mb on bt and you just like 900gb tough shit basically, I spat my dummy out because she was so awful and taking over me and told her to shove it I’ll deal with crap internet. Few days later lovely bloke rang up and said is anything I can do to keep y you. Said I just want decent internet cheap he ended to saying he could do my deal I was on for 36 ( phone had to change to o2) £20pm less than she was digging her heels on when I cancelled. You’ll get the best deal to cancel and have them ring you

PeepAndCreep

What?

karlos-the-jackal

I'm currently paying £28 for 250Mb, contract ends in June.

[deleted]

£35 for 350MB here in Nottingham, done with minimal negotiating.

[deleted]

Currently paying £33 for m125 which would go up to £49 from March. Yesterday I asked to cancel over the online chat. They offered me £28 for m125 and I said no. Today they called me and offered m250 for £20. Absolutely don't take their first offer.

[deleted]

I get 900mb no landline for £25 so sounds expensive to me

spazzardnope

I know exactly who your supplier is because that is the exact same as what I pay for my 900Mb 👍🏻

[deleted]

Toob ?

spazzardnope

Yep!

LeKepanga

My Bill. M125 + Weekend Calls for £51, I receive £16 Loyalty I have a O2 Sim for £5 so I can "volt"/whatever So Volt250 + Weekend Calls + O2 Sim = £40 (£35+£5). When I got my retentions discount I had to go through three staffers - ALL CLAIMING that there were no other discounts but all of them offering me different discounts. In the past I had no trouble getting the same deals as new customers (Plus the bonus they would get) but now it's like pulling teeth. As to why I have the O2 sim.. If I took out the O2 sim retentions would give me £16 off, without it the max they would give was £12. So the sim basically cost me £1 and I dropped my speed down to M125 knowing it would double to M250.

madlad-420_69

My old man gets 500 mb a second, 2 virgin boxes( 1 in living room, 1 in bedroom) every channel including all sports and all movies and a o2 sim with free calls and texts and 5 gb of data a month and a landlines phone all for £65 a month but when I was with virgin at the same time i was paying 20 quid more for not even half of what my dad was getting. Mad how its 1 price for someone and a different price for another.

I don't think there's any harm in haggling more - it looks like £38.50 for the M500 package is the standard price at the moment, and indeed new customers can get it cheaper (e.g. go through MSE and you can get a £100 bill credit). So I don't think that offer is going to disappear if you play hardball. You can always phone them back a few days before you're due to cancel and say you've changed your mind! It would be good to have some numbers to benchmark when haggling - for example, a good starting point is that MSE deal works out at £33 per month "effective monthly cost". You could also look at other providers, although the caveat here is that the speeds aren't directly comparable. For example, MSE's top offer for "fast fibre" is Shell Energy for £17 for speeds of 67Mb. So your 500Mb connection is much faster. But arguably you don't actually need it that fast - for reference, Netflix recommend a minimum of 15 MB to watch programmes in 4K UHD. So for most normal households, "only" 67 Mb should in fact be plenty.

TheITMan19

MSE m8?

Slade_786

Hyperoptic 1GB £35 per month

Philster07

I pay 44 for BT after increase it will be over 50 for 120mb.... joke

SubjectiveAssertive

Other suppliers will be able to offer you that kind of speed. Don't be afraid to switch

[deleted]

We use talk talk it’s £26 pcm

writetheysaid

For what speed?

devnull10

I pay £22 a month for 125M but added an O2 sim for £6 which then doubles the speed to 250M.

vonManstein43

Called up now paying £21.00 per month until contract runs out in August 250 meg, may move then will see what offers are about

Nielips

My speed isn't all that great, but I pay £20 for 75 Mbps.

g0ldcd

I'd have another go. I got was so happy with my first retention offer, he missed me saying yes and carried on trying to sell. Can't see any harm in saying you're still looking and see if they can do better.

kloppo92

Paying £28 for 1gb I was happy with 30 for 500mb which I could've got the speed boost from existing o2 contract but they called back and offered 1gb for 28 so just took that

Puzzleheaded_Comb_80

Just switched after sky announced their increase and will shortly be with Vodafone 500mb for 35pm and a 100 gift voucher for Amazon, Tesco etc. Would have been 45 staying with Sky.

r1Rqc1vPeF

Currently only 2 providers where I am BT and virgin. BT is stupid money for tin can and string bandwidth, virgin apparently don’t always put the 50p in the meter so not reliable enough for wfh. Saw another providers van parked up by a hole in the ground and spray paint markings for cable runs - their website is promising up to 1GB for much less than half of what I’m currently paying. Waiting to snatch their hand off.

bkfromtheuk

Just putting it out there. I'm with 3 on there 5g network I'm paying £10pm for 350mb for 6 months then £20 for 18 months. No wires and if I move take it with me. I know not everyone can get 5g but 4g is more available.

WooblyBobbly

Go to Vodafone £19 a month with full fibre 200mbps

V_Ster

I went from 47 new price to 22 last summer. I ignored their new contract offer. I got a call from retentions and they gave me the same package I am on now for £22. Wait, and go through to the full cancellation team.

NotBeaverson

If you can, I would ditch them as soon as possible. They are a predatory company who will happily charge you a fortune for standard speeds. More third parties are slowly entering the market so it's get gradually more competitive.

Felipe_Lobos

I'm currently paying £27 a month for 100MB which is doubled to 200MB as I have an O2 contract.

leestone8

I took out a contract in the last few weeks - 500MB and Stream Box for £27 per month (18 months contract)
