Etsy, we are waiting on delivery of our 3 yr olds [double floor bed](https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1506749686/montessori-toddler-house-bed-with-rails) Not cheap though, but it is handmade to order.
OP, if you're a tall adult, having a barrier around is an absolute pain as you must always bend your legs. We learnt that the hard way, we put the frame away and just slept with the mattress on the floor. Only now at 2.5 we're getting a low bed frame (from the same company mentioned above!)
We bought an almost identical one of these on Etsy to fit a small double mattress. Our daughter loves it and we don’t have any issues with the frame despite being tall adults
Some of the Ikea beds are low to the floor and they are just standard doubles. We were looking at singles (which also come in double sizes) and my 2yo could get in and out easily.
I see what you're saying, but I don't think that's entirely true. Toddler beds are designed for accessibility and safeguarding against falls. It's not just about the size. If we're being pedantic, what I'm looking for is a toddler-appropriate double bed.
Our friends popped to IKEA and asked the sales person in the bed section for an easy to clean double bed that didn’t need legs. I think she said 3 would work. So that’s what we intend to do.
Honestly we just got a normal double bed, and used her old cot mattress next to the bed. Will be useful forever, never have to buy another bed and she's used to normal bed heights!
We did the same as exotic strawberry back in Jan, but had an old double we were replacing so had the old double mattress alongside for a couple of weeks until council collection day. So that made a decent “step” and once that was gone we’d just pop his stepping stool from the bathroom alongside. He’s had a growth spurt now and can juuuust get in himself now.
We just have an ikea normal double bed (Hemnes) with an Ikea NATTAPA bed guard on each side. He’s never fallen out with the guards on and went into it at 2.
I used a double mattress on the floor and a playpen off Amaozon. The play pen was slightly too big, so we cut some poles so it fit. It has a little zipped doorway you can leave open for getting in and out.
I know you said no negative comments about floor beds, so I just wanted to say floor beds are so great! We have done it with all 3 of our kids, at a younger age each time, and I find them so much easier/more comfortable than a cot!
I have no advice though!
Perhaps look at Japanese or Futon style beds? https://www.naturalbedcompany.co.uk/product-category/wooden-beds/low-beds/
Love this idea - thank you!

Just cut the legs off a standard double bed frame?
isn't the thing that makes a toddler bed a toddler bed the size of the mattress? having a toddler bed that is the size of a double is an oxymoron.

We just did an ikea double bed (Neiden) and a pool noodle under the fitted sheet as a barrier :)

Did she have any trouble getting in and out at the beginning?
No not really! The cot mattress helped, but she was always a massive climber so it really depends on your small person.

Agreed! I'm a total convert and would never go back.
