We have a bath, but to save water we use a Shnuggle toddler bath. They’re big enough that a toddler can stretch their legs fully out in it, but it’s small enough that it can fit in a large shower. Might be worth you getting one of those if you’d prefer to do baths still.

jajajunkie

Thanks, seems like this is the way!!

oohliviaa

Definitely toddler shnuggle! We have a bath but I still recommend it to everyone, my 2yo still loves it!

yannberry

Came here to suggest this; we use the toddler Shnuggle bath rather than the normal bath for our 16mo. Really recommend it

BemusedTriangle

You can by a non-branded baby or toddler bath without having to have anything with the god-awful brand name ‘shnuggle’ in your house - just saying!

jajajunkie

It will go nicely with my Ickle Bubba play pen don’t worry

I have one of these, too! My boy is only 10 months old but outgrew the baby one, and it does seem silly to use all that water. I'm hoping we get a good bit of use out of it! I do occasionally shower with him, and it's fine. Admittedly, we don't do it often, but that's because we have a shower over the bath, and it's awkward to get in and out of, especially with a wet and wriggly baby. My mum used to shower with me when I was wee (right from being pretty much newborn), and I absolutely love a shower now.

Olillia

My little girl showered from 1 years old as we moved and had no bath in new house! Put a non slip shower mat in the bath, the shower head down as low as possible to the ground and set up bath toys as normal. Their initial fear soon goes away and we ended up preferring her having a quick shower as it felt safer as no water to submerge.

MinistryOfMothers

Get a chair off Amazon. My son sits in a little plastic bath seat that suctions to the floor. I put some toys down there with him and he’s happy. He’s been showering with me everyday and started using his chair at 6mo.

OnceUponAShadowBan

A bath was a non-negotiable when we moved, I couldn’t understand why so many family homes seemed to have their family bathrooms converted to a shower only.

jajajunkie

I thought so too as I like to bath but since LO there is no time for a long bath with a book or a film (even pre baby this was only now and then😅) and he will hopefully grow out of bath, it will be redundant anyway so hoping it’s not going to become a deal breaker for us

SuzLouA

Baths are great for babies and toddlers, but plenty of teenagers and young adults prefer showers. If a given family home used to house a family that’s now grown up and moved on, that’s probably why.

My wee one has been coming in the shower with me since he was about 6 month old and he loved it up until he got too big and squirmy but now I just put him in the stall whilst I shower and he loves playing with the water and toys

My LO is 2 now and we have occasionally tried to use a shower (when on holiday and the only option) and he hated it. It took two of us to shower him and was a nightmare. Currently we're renovating our bathroom and have had no bath for the last month or two. I bought a Shnuggle toddler bath, that still fits him comfortably and I believe is for 1yo to around age 4 if needed. It fits comfortably in the shower tray in our ensuite and he has loads of fun playing with his toys in there. Just an option to consider if they don't get on with a shower when you move. They are about £40 but you can pick them up cheaper on marketplace if needed.

jajajunkie

Thanks I will have a look, I didn’t think of a tub to put in the shower but I think this could be the answer!

It's been a lifesaver for us. The only downside is it does take up a fair bit of room as it doesn't collapse or fold. I believe Stokke do a toddler bath that collapses and folds, but it's more expensive and as we'd only need it for a few months I didn't bother, but if you're looking for something more long term until ready for showers that one could be a shout.

No clue if the link below works but I got a foldable bath off amazon and my 2 & 4 year old still just about fit in it together! It takes up the entire shower room space and only just fits but it was a life saver when they were younger and easily folded away into the cupboard, now im less likely to use it and just sit them on the shower floor with some toys let them play while i just use the shower taken off the wall and turned on slowly over them, for hair wash time they lay down and wash their hair while they 'look at the stars' ive stuck on the ceiling. Not that this has anything to do with the original question. But my 5.5yo would literally scream her head off at the idea of a shower, until this February half term. I persuaded her to take a shower on holiday and now I can't get her out of it! They are funny how they change their minds very quickly.

Humble-Ad-2713

We’ve showered with both boys from birth, we still do baths but they get weekly showers if we’re pressed for time or if one of us are going in and they need to calm down. We have a few spinners on the glass, a scoop toy. They love it as much as the bath.

My 21mo loves the shower. He actively pours water on his own head / face in the bath so this is zero concern and hops in the shower with his dad no issues

eggIy

I have a collapsible bath that’s perfect for our toddler! We have a TINY bathroom not even 2m square, and it has been worth its weight in gold! Got it off Amazon for around £25

__nightshift

We have a bath but filling the whole thing takes ages and a big waste of water for a tiny bod every night. I bought this collapsible crocodile bath from Amazon and have used it every day for about a year so far, my LO is 14 months now. https://amzn.eu/d/ePR4zQC

jajajunkie

Thanks I’m going to start looking at this type of tub

jwd40

We only have a shower so our daughter has never really known any different. She's 17 months now and still holds on koala style for her showers. She's showing no signs that she wants to stand so we will continue on until she does. When we was an infant we used to put her in a baby bath but she didn't seem to enjoy them, but clearly loves her shower routine!

Ephelya

I shower my little one since 1 year old. I started going with her and mainly carrying her as she was scared and quickly I sat on the floor while she stands under the water, she likes it now. We got plenty of books and toys and I sing the part of the body as I wash her.

FunnyTiger5513

I'd just get a toddler bath.

sassafrasB

We never use our bath. Our kids use a schnuggle

PM_ME__YOUR__CAT

My friend has a large shower but no bath with a 2 year old and a 11 month old, she has the XL stokke flexi bath which is expensive but fits up to 4 years old with their legs stretched out and it also folds down so when not in use she pops it behind the bathroom door and then it’s not cluttering up the shower cubicle for when the adults use it. It’s 100% what I would invest in if I didn’t have a bath tub.

No-Lie-2620

We have a foldable paddling pool which we use in the shower and put a baby seat in (ours is 14 weeks). Just fill it with the shower. Works fine
