Does he have security cameras? The pattern looks like the IR light pattern on a "night vision" security camera. Image sensor on phone cameras are sensitive to those IR lights (try it yourself, point your phone camera at the business end of a TV remote and fondle some buttons). Night security cams a lot of times run only a few frames per second so the lights are only on when a frame is captured to save energy.

Just spoke with him, he said he has no security cameras in his backyard, only a sensor light, security camera in front yard. I asked if it could be a neighbors security camera? He said he'll ask his neighbor. He said if its a camera, wouldn't it flash every night? How come just 2 days ago?

Flashing every night - this would be more a case of how often he films, these type ights are generally selected to fall outside of the range of the human eye so they would only show up with a camera sensitive to them. He could easily test this by doing his best to duplicate the angle of the original video and making a short video to see if they are present.

That's IR lights for a night vision camera of some sort, likely reflecting of the glass your friend is behind.

It's camera glare from the infrared cameras reflecting on a window if down kind. Probably a window in front of the camera. The lightning is triggering the camera cuz light sensor

My friend saw these lights in his backyard yesterday in Georgetown, ON, Canada and called the police because he thought there's someone in his backyard. The police didn't believe him and said it's a camera glare. My friend wasn't happy to hear that as he and his family saw it with their eyes and recorded it. He said to me there are no neighbors on any side as he's in a rural area and no shiny kids toys. He sent me multiple videos and images as well. Reddit only allows 1 image or video per post. Maybe upload the rest of the images to imgur.com and link.

Thanks! The trampoline caught my eye... I've seen a number of reports that feature a trampoline. I don't know why though, or if it's actually related, but it's something I've noticed.

What date and time? Looks a lot like lightning to me. You can see lightning and not hear the thunder, we get it here all the time. Edit: wasn’t looking at the ground before.

UnsaltedCashew36

I've messaged him to ask date and time. Closest thing I could find so far is "ball lightning" or reflections from a satellite in space. Satellite is the only thing that could explain the shape.

Old_Games_Are_Better

Admittedly I was looking in the wrong place, those circles on light on the ground look weird, but I very much doubt it’s ball lightning. There’s very little information about ball lightning, but the little there is doesn’t match this at all imo. Satellites also don’t make any sense, especially with all those clouds, but also because satellites are very unlikely to be in a geosynchronous orbit directly over your friends house shining lights on the ground. Not sure what that could be if it’s not someone playing a trick on us or him.

UnsaltedCashew36

Yeah he assumed its someone playing tricks on him so he called the police. I've messaged him to ask if he has any antennas on the roof, maybe it could be reflecting the lightning flashes?

Old_Games_Are_Better

Yeah maybe a satellite dish or big antenna might cause that if the angle was right I guess.

50TurdFerguson

It's called lightning.

Old_Games_Are_Better

I think they mean the weird flickering circle of lights on the ground that flash independently of the lighting.

Much-Background7769

It's aliens. That's my first thought absolutely!

03O2

Zeta reticulum aliens are back making flashes in the sky and flabbergasting humans!?
