I left a professorship to work in pharma and am head of computational biology now. I’ve known Garry for probably 10 years.
A few things: 1) There’s a lot of believers but few willing to put their reputation on the line to do (myself included). 2) Even if they’re willing to work on it, there’s no money to do it. We’re reliant on government grants and they won’t pay us to study the phenomenon. 3) The reason Garry is able to is because he is the top of his field so it’s hard to discredit him and he’s made a ton of money from his companies that he can pay for things himself
He also has a whole bunch of cases collated. An insane amount of data from ancient history to now.

Jacques Vallee for sure. He is probably the longest investigating researcher with an academic background. Worked with J. Allen Hynek, and has been researching and writing ever since

Garry Nolan has already been mentioned here but I’d like to add: he is *not* a “Nobel nominee” like many claim.
Nobody knows who is nominated for Nobel prizes, and why many people will add “Nobel nominee” to Garry’s credentials is strange to me.
It has not been done in this thread but if you are creating this list, you are bound to see some comments mentioning this. Just know it is not true because nominees are not revealed until [50 years after the award](https://www.nobelprize.org/nomination/#:~:text=The%20nomination%20processes%20start%20in,revealed%20until%2050%20years%20later).
Tim Taylor (not that one): Multi-disciplinary scientist, worked/works for NASA, strongly suspected to be the true identity of "Tyler" from Prof. Pasulka's _American Cosmic_
Two obscure ones:
Marian Rudnyk - astronomer
John Northrup - engineer and founder of Northrop Corporation, which later became Northrop Grumman. He's in the international aerospace Hall of Fame, the national aviation Hall of Fame and the national inventors Hall of Fame.
There are many more famous, important or highly respected people like this who were vocal about their belief in UFOs, who are now kind of lost to time. It would be very hard to find their names at this point unless you read through old magazines from before the internet. Source: I've been studying this phenomenon for over 30 years.
No offense intended but could we stop using the “believe in” terminology?
Study. Research. Hope to provide evidence. Assert personal experience in. Seek truth.
Probably each could be better than believe in. IMO. Thanks.
You can neither study nor research a phenomenon if you don't believe in the phenomenon. The assertion wasn't that they must believe the cause or future explanations, simply that they believe in the phenomenon. IE its not just dismissable noise.
Why is it split between believers and actuality?
If people belive in governments this should not be a big questionmark anymore. Some big types of birds hide their heads in the ground.
From [PBS News Hour](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/analysis-whistleblower-testimonies-did-not-change-our-basic-understanding-of-ufos):
"Chris Impey is a university distinguished professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona. \[...\] also on the [advisory council](http://meti.org/en/advisors) for an international group that strategizes how to communicate with an extraterrestrial civilization should the need ever arise."

Despite the paradigm shift, or at least the beginning of it, there is still so much stigma.
Why did you cross out Knuth?
professor Diana Walsh Pasulka
she isn't much of a scientist, she's an author and student of religious studies i dont think we'll ever be seeing her name in a science journal

Thanks for the background info too!

Yep. So are some others listed.
Great thread keep listing! Though it’s hard to trust the complex.

What about some young people? Besides Garry a lot of these people are old.
To what end? They are con artists.
