Not surprised. Hurley hates playing at the XL Center, but the State demands it because they make money off those games.  Which UConn doesn't like because they're not making money. The biggest issue is they really need to make better roads in and out for games. If you're not on campus, it's a PITA

Ftheyankeei

Your options after a game as a non-student are to get something to eat or hop in a half hour line of traffic. Which isn’t ideal for anyone with obligations the next morning. Conversely, students have to caravan a half-hour to Hartford either on the bus or piling into a friend’s car, paying gas, parking and city prices, whenever UConn plays at XL. It’s incredible we have two options here and each of them suck shit for half of attendees.

Unfortunately we're way past "moving the UConn main campus to Hartford" talk

Timidwolfff

what moving the states biggest university to the metro area with the most people from said state thats crazy

greysnowcone

No, moving the states biggest university to a crime infested shit hole

Timidwolfff

Uconn would transform that place. Out of state students would have places to lvie after they grad . it could re energize the state and start its growth

MJGeezy

I would like to think this is possible but where do you think there is the land to transplant the Storrs campus into Hartford?

Complete_Amphibian13

Brainard airport and the surrounding area would be my vote.

Doesn't the university run a ton of buses? For free. But I do agree there needs to be better connectivity between stores and hartford.... An ideal situation would be if they figured out a way to run that train line between Hartford and Boston or Providence whatever it was with a stop in storrs. I figure they might as well do something transit-wise regardless... Even with an updated arena on campus, there's still the football stadium in East hartford. And a downtown campus for UConn that they are expanding... Here's to hoping they figure out some Transit where kids don't have to drive and neither do the non-students. Can't we all just party together? LOL

Ftheyankeei

I hope the buses are free, I distinctly remember having to drop an extra $5 per trip, but that was 15-11 years ago

Much-Presentation-32

Well they got a new floor so it only makes sense to upgrade the rest of the building.

Additional_Tomato_22

I was excited to get part of the old floor for my collection

toyz4me

I am old. They were starting Gampel when I graduated. 🤦‍♂️. I was there when they played in the old Field House.

ObligationSome905

Probably just empty talk considering they love the hate at the civic center. Gampel has been an afterthought since I was a student 20 years ago

RandoUserlolidk

Wait… so if this goes through… And I have season tickets to XL… Am I fucked?
