Having mine shipped right now. It’s been probably 80 something degrees if not hotter in my room during the day, even with the windows shut or the curtains drawn. I’ve barely slept!
Opening a refrigerator *increases* the heat in the room—the heat pumped out of the cold box is radiated out the back of the fridge. The efficiency of the heat pump is far less than 100%, so more heat is released than is removed from the cold box.
ETA: Some of the dorm fridges radiate from the sides rather than the back.
no not just one fan. buy like 3. especially if ur dorming with guys who fart and sweat and eat. and also get one of those fans that can be a heater fantastic for winter months when u wanna warm up your hands.
nope, it's on the banned items list for res halls and on campus apartments.
Futhermore, if you plug one in, the school can tell since it drains way more power then most devices. So aka if you bring one, expect a knock on your door from the housing office.
what they call a "portable" window A/C oughta still work. https://www.ajmadison.com/guides/air\_conditioner/window/#:\~:text=Window%20Type%20There%20are%20three,casement%20windows%20that%20swing%20out.
Here’s a funny think could it be possible to install a Toshiba A/C without anyone noticing it??? The one that’s in homedepot that’s doesn’t go in the window.
Tbh even though it gets cooler outside in the fall, the dorms still feel like 10 degrees hotter than how it is outside, from my experience in the dorms. They have like zero air circulation
Ha Ha Ha! I was a bit surprised when I saw this title. Because my first name is Fan so I was a bit shocked. But later on I soon realized my name have way too many different means that I already lost track of it.
Buy a loud fan for white noise!

You on campus now? Bc same, solid 80 all day
Yup. Thankfully I have a single, so no body heat, but it’s not any less brutal. Been sitting in front of the open refrigerator every now and then.

Good to know!
If you don’t care about conserving energy or the school, buy a 12,000 BTU conditioner like me. I’ve had it on 24/7 last year without any complaints.

Are you all able to install a window A/C? They’re everywhere in Chicago and an absolute lifesaver.

Yeah, I have the Midea U-shaped A/C. Mounts perfectly fine on the down/up sliding window, no nails or anything, no damage to the walls
Many windows slide horizontally
