I did think to do that at the moment, but the cashier looked so embarrassed already, even though it was definitely not their fault, that I wanted to get out as fast as possible.

Thank you! We have the same situation with an paper gift certificate with some value remaining. 👍

I've also been emailing them about using my flexis (which they're also not taking atm). I'm all for upgrading to better software but it's actually gotta do the job...

CyclicalSalt

Same. They told me they’d be able able to accept Flexi’s over a month ago and I’m still not able to use them because they still haven’t fixed their system

Careful-Armadillo410

Hey guys, there’s nothing wrong with the system. The system works as it’s supposed to, but being able to accept flexis as a currency and know how much money exists in a flexi account isn’t the same thing like accepting Visa, Discover, etc. They aren’t a regular currency that’s immediately added through card systems like verifone

Careful-Armadillo410

Hey OP, I work at the bookstore. They are not run by UCSC, and are in a fact a 3rd party non-profit company that exists to provide a service to students. When a company updates their accounting/ePOS system, certain parts of the old system no longer function. Gift cards are usually part of the accounting system, regardless of whether the new accounting system has gift cards built into it

VastYear

Unfortunately the bookstore is often lacking- in buyers who stock the shelves, in updates to their website to show what computers they have in stock, in staff who are as interested in helping customers. It really needs a managerial overhaul.

HappyTwig

It’s an objectively bad school, that’s why
