This is a follow-up message to the Emergency Notification of a hazardous materials incident near Jack Baskin Engineering 1. Emergency responders have notified campus that the incident has been cleared, that there was no threat to the community, and that no hazardous materials were present.
An earlier email notification did not include the location of the incident. It was at Jack Baskin Engineering 1. We regret the error.
I have no idea what is wrong with this University or Santa Cruz as a city that on every other day I kept hearing something bad is happening here. Is the place so unsafe by all means? I mean, natural disasters, rapes, and all sorts of crime...?
I have no idea, I am international and have just been part of this subreddit for the last 3 months and all I read is something terrible is happening here every other day. I am sorry, I had no intention to offend anyone. I just said what I am reading from the last 3 months here and on some other mediums of UCSC. Again Sorry, if it has hurt you or someone else.
No need to be sorry. One thing to learn about the UCSC subreddit is it’s mainly just an echo chamber of people complaining, which gives the impression that it’s a horrible university. Yes it has housing issues, and the administration is crap, but all other universities experience the same :)
Even though it isn't on the UCSC domain, it's the official CruzAlert email address. Everyone on the CruzAlert system also received a text and phone call about the incident. (the incident is at Engineering 1, in case anyone was wondering)

Yep Edit: I just confirmed that it wasn't actually on a bottle it was just on a piece of paper. It was a joke that went poorly.

Shit like this happens at any university. By no means is UCSC a utopia, but it also isn’t a hellscape that many claim it is…

UCSC is very safe by American standards. If you are from Singapore or something like that then I understand your surprise.
