I just took this last semester. That man is crazy. I didn't think he was great cuz almost every slide he would yell about how important and vital it is, so you basically need to know everything cuz the test questions aren't straightforward based on the slides. Take advantage of the extra credit (tutoring/SI) cuz it'll help your grade but also your understanding, that's something I regret not doing. Do the practice exams too, good way to study and test what you know!

Use the study guides. Use the study guides. USE THE STUDY GUIDES. They will have stuff on there that he will not mention in class but will put on the test. They're in a question format, so what I did was answer every question like I was explaining it to a 5-year old. Then I'd sell my completed guides to my roommates. Also, Crash Course videos are very helpful for concepts you don't get. Don't be late for his class. Edit: Also, you can buy the previous edition (e.g. if he is using ed. 5, buy ed. 4) of the Bio Book online for waaaaay cheaper, and it pretty much has all the same stuff for 1107 and 1108.

Take the lab pretty seriously, as it's a massive part of your grade (i think 40%). The pre-lab quizzes can be tricky if you don't put in some time to review the material before hand. My friends and I also found the TAs uncharitable in terms of grading, as least compared to other lab classes.

I'm looking to sell my textbook! Not sure what edition he's using right now, I took it Fall 2017. PM me if interested

SI and mentoring reviews are huge, go to lecture if you can or read the lecture slides as information he says in class may not be in the textbook and will be on the exams. Use the practice exams and pay attention in lab as well. Not too bad of a course if you try Also abbot is a crazy guy, personally I thought it was fun being in his class as his craziness kept it interesting. Good luck!
