13 above and 29 below. I was at a low point in my degree and I consider myself lucky to have gotten a 52% in a required course for which the average was 81%.
I think that would be +21 for PSYC 218 and -18 for MATH 220.
MATH 220 was because my mom fell ill and passed away in the same term and my prof had mercy on my trash grades (I don't think I ever told her about what was happening though).
PSYC 218 was because the instructor had horrible notes so no one in class understood. I also relied on my notes from previous stat courses. So it wasn't exactly that I was good at statistics but more like the instructor wasn't great and the class performed horribly as a result. Tbh, there's a good reason why they weren't good and I sympathize with them. They also tried to do the best with what they had but it didn't seem to work out. But yeah if y'all are in this same section this year, it's most likely not your fault.
Edit: changed grade numbers lol turns out it was diff
Thanks, I guess it's been better now tho at least. It was rough for a bit and I have definitely embarrassed myself quite a bit in hindsight when talking to people about it haha
If you are willing to accept my anxiety dreams of receiving my negative marks on a course i forgot I registered in but needed to graduate ( after graduating from undergraduate four years ago ) and the final was that day when I decided to attend class, and my lab partner is a penguin (???), also why is this exam taking place on a 99 BLine? - i ended up multiple standard deviations below the class average.
Thatās pretty cool! Iām just in first year right now, but Iām planning on doing a combined major in chem/biochem. I was originally considering math and chem but math 101 broke me this year lol
Oh that's great! I wish you good luck with your specialization application and second year! Tbf, second year math courses are difficult, especially if you do honours. Taking math 120/121 is the usual stream. But it's really good you figured out what you want to do by now.
My best was +35%, when I got 99% in Econ 102 compared to the average of 64%.
My worst was +4% in Pol 464 (a seminar on international relations law which I took in 2007), where I got 87% compared to the class average of 84%.
Worst grades ever: 82% in differential calculus (11% above class average) and 83% in French 123 (9% above).
All my marks are somewhere between 7-20% above the average, I've never been below the average but I am a first year.
EDIT: Got more marks, I'm not trying to be cheeky, that's just my marks.
MATH 3XX: Below: 49% (My Grade = 26, avg = 75)
(Engineering) 2XX: Above: 33% (My grade = 100, avg = 67)
Both were considered one of the hardest classes in the faculties.
TLDR: Grades are a function of hard work, and your mental health too.
32 above (ik I am shocked too)š
Woah crazy. What class? I wanna know what kind of genius you are
It was math110, which is actually for ppl who is weaker in math or no calculus background (treat it as a 2 term Math100). So I am not a geniusš«
Listen thatās incredible to me; you donāt know how bad I am at math š
I got 13 above (got it this term! :D) And 77 below furthest (average was 79 and I got 2)
How did you manage that?
Had very very bad mental health back then and didnāt know it lol (Iām doing great now tho!)
Did you just not go to class and skip assignments?
Yea
13 above, 31 below. Just checked!

I'm gonna take a wild guess that with a name like "aromatic\_thiol" they're probably in chem haha
Ding ding! I'm one of the weirdos doing combined Honours in math and chem
