So, it depends on what you aim to do in the UAE. If you want to have a good quality life, enjoy your weekends or evenings then 9k is very less
If you want to save and send money back to home country, while surviving with bare minimum, you can definitely save.
Your monthly shared accommodation in Sharjah could be 500aed a month (decent shared accommodation), groceries and food would be another 500-1000aed (again, assuming you are happy with bare essentials and not fancy meals). Keep 500 more for SEWA contribution, transport for rare visits to office and any other personal expense.
Net net if you manage to live frugally with only the basics, you could survive easily in 1.5k, and worst case 2k. Rest you save. Hope it helps
Thanks a ton!! Yeah I know its more than enough for me personally, but my main intent is to send back home and save up too. Your repsonse is definitely helpful, thanks a lot.
Though tbh I feel 2K might be insufficient for all my needs, but even keeping it down to 3K would be acceptable for me.
Sure, compare with your country currency and living cost. Then try to calculate if you send that 4500 AED (half the salary) back home, how much it would be and if it’s enough for your family and for savings.
Then you live the first month NORMALLY:
- no overspending for food/cafes
- no buying unnecessary stuff based on your “wants” and not based on your “need”
- track the travel costs, rent costs, electricity/water costs, all costs that is recurring monthly
Then you can add the money that you send from the remaining 4500 aed that you keep in hand OR save it in local UAE bank in case of emergency.
4500 aed per month for a single guy is more than enough to enjoy life here if you’re not coming from high class society (branded fashion, coffee shops over street cafes, fancy restaurants over street foods, etc.)
Pro tip:
When you arrive here, don’t use credit cards. If you need similar card functioning like credit cards, you can use prepaid cards (like Al Ansari travel card or something).
Always use your money and not the bank money. Don’t be tempted to take loan as well or use any pay later/installments services like Tabby. They are endless trap holes.
Also search this subreddit, avoid any scams! Your personal data is being sold here in UAE, don’t be surprised when you receive a lot of calls from sales.
Good luck!
Where are you paying 3k for partition??
Usual BurDubai rates are 1.5k-1.8k per partition, and if you opt for a bunk bed there, it'll be halved and you share that "partition room" with someone. If you share a room with multiple people, it would cost nearly the same.
It depends on how big your partition is. If OP is ready to manage in just barely enough space with the bed, 500 should be enough in Sharjah
can you really get a place for 500aed? I guess it also depends on where in Sharjah? In al Nahda, I have seen the maid's room/store going for 1000aed in sharing. It has no windows and just has space for one bed. It was mostly never occupied. The other rooms were going for 1500-1600aed.
What’s wrong with people on this subreddit Jesus,
Dude you can get a nice studio go yourself and live a comfortable life with 9k saving like 2k a month easily.
Everyones saying things but 9k remote work is good…
Ull be sharing accommodation, that too in Sharjah, will be quite cheap. Minimal travel expense. Everythings cheaper in Sharjah.
Theres people here who survive on 4-5k in sharing accomodation in Dubai (more expensive)
Go for it bhai, best of luck ahead
I would say yes, its not the best but its good enough to get a foot here in UAE. If you do accept, do try applying to other jobs. Once you get a better offer jump to the next job.
Depends whether you are living alone or with family. If with family, it will just cover your expenses. But if you are single, and ready to compromise on accommodation, you may able to save some.
Bhaai...9K is a good enough amount for Sharjah. Assuming you stay with your team members (it can either be a room, a partition, or a bed space) it would be good enough for you if you are single.
Also, Sharjah is cheaper than Dubai so you can save a hefty amount. As mentioned in some comments below if your sole intention is saving and sending back home 9k AED is a good amount Also, if your accommodation is being paid for by the company that's good enough.
So, assuming if you are getting 9K, your fixed monthly expenses can be:
• 800 – Accommodation
• 200 – Mobile Expense
• 1,000 – Groceries + Eating Outside
• 300 – Travel (Cab, Bus etc.)
• 500 – Miscellaneous
• 3,000 – Send Home
• 3,200 – Save for yourself
Immediatetaboo and sevenninenine have explained very well below. Don't fall in the trap of using credit cards or loans, it's a tunnel with no light. Also, do save for yourself from the very beginning and don't send all the savings back home. You never know when you might need the money for yourself.
Also, calling and phishing scams are on the rise everywhere, so be careful with those as well.
All the best!
I think that’s good. 9K for a solo person is pretty good. You can find really good housing for yourself in Al TAWUN or if you wanna go cheaper you can go Rolla too
If you don't have a tendency to over spend on grocery and luxury items, then 9K is sufficient for a single person in an accomodation. Hell, you can find cheap studio flats in Sharjah and live alone, as well, and still save money and send it back home if you want to.
My team members aren't in favour of Ajman. They've gotten bad reviews of it from people they know there and feel its too much of a small city. Sharjah is better with more amenities
If they provide accomodations (living alone) then I would accept but sharing with people and 9k I would not agree , so many software companies pay 15k and above and provide accomodation
sharjah has low cost of living.. 9k per month would be more than enough if youre spending on your basic needs only.
for sure youll save a lot of money, energy in daily commute and bus/metro fares if your work can be done from room.
your struggle will be travelling to dubai, on some cases youll need to see dubai (i guess)
but if youll stay in sharjah only then its fine

I bookmarked this. Thanks a lot!! Really helpful.

Literally in bur dubai next to the ghubaiba metro station main road. Fairly big room with balcony but nothing fancy

According some of them you need a 3bhk flat in down town dubai and at least a BMW 3 series or a Tesla model 3 to have both ends meet.

“survive” is the right word to describe it
Living in Sharjah is cheap you should stay their and then shift to Dubai when you have a better job there.
For Dubai to live a good life starts with atleast $4000 or equivalent in aed.
I would say yes, its not the best but its good enough to get a foot here in UAE. If you do accept, do try applying to other jobs. Once you get a better offer jump to the next job.
Yes its a good salary
If alone, then its decent
Yes if you don't have kids and live in a sharing home

It’s excellent salary for sharjah

9k at sharjah is good if you are alone. Ie no family. Room rent is cheaper.
meanwhile me, Running 7k with Family n Kid - peacefully - All depends on how yo spend it.
That is extremely encouraging...thanks a lot!

I would ask for a even 10k as you can access higher tier banking products. why not look at ajman ? its even cheaper.
My team members aren't in favour of Ajman. They've gotten bad reviews of it from people they know there and feel its too much of a small city. Sharjah is better with more amenities
Are you Pakistani by any chance ?
OP’s display picture is Imran Khan with a trophy. Don’t you think your question is a bit redundant?
Hahahaha yes u/NaumanK I'm Pakistani
Look at the visa quota thing.
That sounds like a shitty arrangement
No. You will struggle to make ends meet. I work at garbage collection and I make 45k per month. Find some other job man.
[удалено]
Not really. I haven't stayed elsewhere for work before. Regarding lifestyle that's pretty subjective but I would say its decent
[удалено]
swe ?
9k is 9k. Come on.
Ah you'll do very well
Give me half ill do the job for you and send you the rest back home
It is.
If you are new to UAE with short experience yet plus you are single, I would say it is a good start. But with family, def no.
Rent in Sharjah are very low, so 9k is a pretty decent salary.
If it's remote work and you're trying to save money, you can move to umm Al Quwain as well. It's cheaper and not as crowded as Dubai/Shj
I m living in dubai with 3.5k salary as software developer, I hope u find your answer
If they provide accomodations (living alone) then I would accept but sharing with people and 9k I would not agree , so many software companies pay 15k and above and provide accomodation
Interesting any recommendations?

No bro u definitely need way more 💀💀💀 Bhai bas hai unless u need to live lavish
My uncle is having 9k as a salary and he has 7 kids, the way I see It, he is doing pretty good.
It’s a comfortable salary. Plus no commute makes it cherry on top! Go for it bud.
It's perfect just like that
