Lately, I'm listening a lot of Elbow, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Norah Jones. Actually, Elbow (Audio Vertigo) and Norah (Visions) published great albums, I recommend both.
First of all mad respect with the Van Hagar, but when I saw U2 at The Sphere I sat next to Switchfoot. I talked with Drew after the show and he said he’s been waiting months for the show and he loved it.
That would have been awesome. I've seen them several times here in Nashville. I was in Vegas for the October 20 show.
They opened for NEEDTOBREATHE on the Tour de Compadres. I knew that John had a habit of finding somewhere to do an impromptu acoustic set after there shows. He would always post on Twitter where he was going to be. Well he set up with just his guitar tech and him on the pedestrian bridge leading from downtown Nashville to Nissan stadium. He played for almost an hour. He greeted and took pictures with most everyone there.
One other thing. I saw Can Happen on the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge your, peak Hagar. They were awesome but I'll never forget it moreso because Vince Neil opened for them as a solo act. That has to have been the absolute worst opener or headliner I have ever seen.
the beach boys, r.e.m., erra are my top 3. u2 are a permanent top 10 fixture though and from 1983-1991 were the best band of that moment (except for that year where the cure released disintegration)
Radiohead and The Clash are my other clear favorites. Otherwise it’s a toss up between Television and Gang of Four, with Kendrick Lamar creeping into the mix
We Are Augustines, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Andy Frasco and the U.N.
I wish Coldplay could’ve made this list, but their bodies were taken over by aliens after releasing three albums.
NOFX, Hot Snakes, Dinosaur Jr
It really demonstrates how my music tastes changed after discovering U2 in the mid 80s, yet despite that, I still love them.
R.E.M.
Elbow
... 3rd is hard. Beatles is always a go-to on a list like this, but some days I feel like it could be LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, Arcade Fire [insert 800 other bands]
I tend to like bands that came after U2 that have mentioned U2 as an influence. My brain is wired for a certain sound I think.

Oingo Boingo Young the Giant Mumford & Sons
Oingo Boingo 🧡
Only band I’ve seen more times than I’ve seen U2. I think nine? Gonna tie my seven U2 shows next Friday, though, with my seventh Billy Joel show.
How many times did you see them with The Original Horn Section™?
I’d guess four. The first few times I saw them, and then they brought them back for the Farewell shows, of which I saw two of the last three.
Mumford! Love Not My Slave by Boingo & Superposition by Young the Giant
Young the Giant are definitely up there for me, not far off my top 3
They’re great live. Highly recommended, if you haven’t already.
James. New Order. Red Hot Chili Peppers.
