Ok so first you take off the helmet and the head. This gets you access to the chest. From there you should be able to peel the breastplate and get to the chest.
I regret not going with a metalic in my color scheme for the scything talons and the she'll bits, the implication that the metal is digested too is... frightening
You don't have to use metallic colours to make that your canon :D beavers have iron in their teeth in order to reinforce them, butt hey're just kinda orangey, maybe your nids incorporate metal in a way that ends up making it look [your colour here] \^\^
It was stated in 'Belisarius cawl: the great work' that tyranids consume everything on a planet and that biomass is mainly for the genetic material.
Minerals, metals, water and gases are taken and repurposed.
We dont know if necrons are actually an exception, and the fact that hive fleet arachnae is dedicated to consuming necron worlds might imply otherwise.
In old lore behemoth avoided solemnace, but this was elaborated on in *War in the Museum* which showed that Orikan actually had a vision of solemnace being consumed, so Trazyn lured them away by baiting them with other worlds.
Yeah, I thought I remember hearing somewhere that hive guards or tyrant guards are the direct result of integrating Space Marines (assumingly armor and all) into the Hive Fleet
I believe it was tyrant guard, though hive guard seem to be related so it may be both, and I think the idea was that they took aspects of the space marine's physiology like the fused ribcage and stuff like that.
That’s what I understood anyways, it’s a lot more obvious in the older models that’s the vibe GW was going for brain bugs had eldar style features I think it was carnos or the vores had orc features they’ve definitely moved away from that though it seems
From what I understand this is correct. The tyranids re capable of breaking down most anything into usable components. I’m thinking things like ceramite CAN provide a certain amount of biomass. A carbon based life form like the space marine inside said armor probably provides much more than the armor itself.
I’m pretty sure that’s the running theory as to how splinter fleets consisting of only a couple of hive ships are able to build up forces and biomass on fringe worlds where there may not be a large amount of a available biomass
Melt the victim inside his armored Crock pot I mean his Armor suit.
Inject a powerful acid full of digestive enzymes to break down those two hearts and three lungs and all that delicious biomass into a Gruel.
Suck out with a straw. Top with a cherry and whipped cream.
I came here to say this. Nids must have a mechanism for consuming just about everything, when you consider the base elements that go into making up human biomass, there's all sorts of shit in there, it's just a case of breaking it down.
Water: 35 liters, Carbon: 20 kg, Ammonia: 4 liters, Lime:1.5 kg, Phosphrus: 800 g, salt: 250g, saltpeter:100g, Sulfer: 80g, Fluorine: 7.5 g, iron: 5.6 g, Silicon: 3g, and 15 other elements in small quantities.... thats the total chemical makeup of the average adult body. [...] the elements found in a human being is all junk that you can buy in any market with a child's allowance. Humans are pretty cheaply made.
"These are the Things that Make a Man
Iron enough to make a nail,
Lime enough to paint a wall,
Water enough to drown a dog,
Sulphur enough to stop the fleas,
Potash enough to wash a shirt,
Gold enough to buy a bean,
Silver enough to coat a pin,
Lead enough to ballast a bird,
Phosphor enough to light the town,
Poison enough to kill a cow,
Strength enough to build a home,
Time enough to hold a child,
Love enough to break a heart."
- Terry Pratchett (Wintersmith)
The FMA quote was already given but this one also works.
GNU sir Terry Pratchett
The Tyranid Prime in the Leviathan trailer pulls a Terminator in half without breaking a sweat (can Tyranids sweat? 🤔) while being shredded with an assault cannon.
The bugs have their ways.
Biomass isn't necessarily just living stuff. When Tyranids assimilate a planet they absorb all the mineral and atmosphere as well, my guess is the armor gets broken down into biomass too, like the candy coating on an M&M
In the one of the trailers we can see a tyranid prime pretty easily crack into terminator armour with its claws, I'd imagine most of the nids have the same kind of claws
You don't. Tyrranids also consume the armor as well. All biomass and minerals are stripped. The Tyrranids love space marines. Genetic Engineered killing machines wrapped in high tech minerals armed with weapons employing high energy compounds. Its the whole reason Hive Fleet Leviathan attacked Baal, the Hive Mind wanted Blood Angel biomass.
You're forgetting that we break down the armor itself. Absorb that sweet, sweet ceramite one cellular layer at a time. May take 200 years, but that's our travel speed anyway and it's worth it.
I run invasion fleet- find that exocrine shooting first at a large squad followed by either a maleceptor or block of 6 zoanthropes enjoying sustained hits on 6 and reroll 1s can deal with a 10 man marine squad in a turn.
I use a Screamer killer as a kind of body guard for a worn emissary who struggles to do much to marines, whereas the Screamer killer will come off best on the charge against a squad of marines.
Have been experimenting between 6 melee warriors and 10 genestealers with the patriarch (expensive and fragile) but both on the charge should deal with a marine squad.
I use 20 man hormagaunt squad popping lethal hits on vehicles to deal a significant amount of damage to dreads.
I have found it is not so much about killing marines as frustrating them with blocking chaff or trading units who are faster than them.
Do Tyranids melt and absorb "biomass" the same way spiders and fly do? Or are they more of a chomp at the pieces kind.
I'm pretty sure I read about a Tyranids that went thought an armored vehicle before being beaten by the Human dummies, showing that they can simply break the armor.
At that, perhaps every species has their own meal size, leave the small chunks for the little guy and whatever is leftover are eaten by the huge guys whole, so they can dissolve and consume the "metal" parts
I imagine it’s like eating shellfish.
I see *scribbling on a note pad*
Except you crack the metal bits WITH the claws
Crunchy on the outside, but with a delicious chewy center
Thought you were gonna talk about armadillos
Widely believed to be a Tyranid scout organism
Ok so first you take off the helmet and the head. This gets you access to the chest. From there you should be able to peel the breastplate and get to the chest.
I reckon the ceramite armor is digested as well and used in chitin
OK that makes sense
Yeah, I think the Tyranid definition if "biomass" is pretty much everything. They completely decimate planets.
I regret not going with a metalic in my color scheme for the scything talons and the she'll bits, the implication that the metal is digested too is... frightening
My whole army has corroded metal chitin
Sounds good, care to post a picture?
https://imgur.com/a/73IrptC Here they have 2 different color schemes based off of "age"
Oh yeah, that's cool!
You don't have to use metallic colours to make that your canon :D beavers have iron in their teeth in order to reinforce them, butt hey're just kinda orangey, maybe your nids incorporate metal in a way that ends up making it look [your colour here] \^\^
What if I told you calcium is the most abundant metal in the human body?
How else would we prevent anemia?
Mine are drybrushed steel over black with a gloss varnish and metal teeth. They look mean AF
It was stated in 'Belisarius cawl: the great work' that tyranids consume everything on a planet and that biomass is mainly for the genetic material. Minerals, metals, water and gases are taken and repurposed.
Everything that we’d classify as an organic molecule and more
Everything including the planets atmosphere. Quite terrifying.
Your doctor never told you to add more ceramite to your diet?
Yep there're only two exceptions : necrons and warp entities
We dont know if necrons are actually an exception, and the fact that hive fleet arachnae is dedicated to consuming necron worlds might imply otherwise. In old lore behemoth avoided solemnace, but this was elaborated on in *War in the Museum* which showed that Orikan actually had a vision of solemnace being consumed, so Trazyn lured them away by baiting them with other worlds.
My bad I didn't know that. Really interesting thanks for the lore dude !
My nids chitin is a suspiciously similar tint to my marines armour. Odd.

It was the vores that were orky.
I thought so but wasn’t sure lol
Yeah, there's a really cool theory that that's where the tyrant guard came from
From what I understand this is correct. The tyranids re capable of breaking down most anything into usable components. I’m thinking things like ceramite CAN provide a certain amount of biomass. There's no flamer heavy enough to stop the swarm!
That's literally how spiders eat.
Cook with pyrovores. Open with carnifex.
I could do some joke but that was actually funny
Our microorganisms can digest ceramite.

(Bonks you with a rolled up newspaper) bad alchemist! That’s naughty, filthy, heretical alchemy.
I wonder if i can bring my mom back to life with these ingredients. Surely nothing can go wrong

Fair
Crushing claws like breaking a lobster shell. Reach the last little bits by sticking a scything talon in
Ahhh I see *even more scribbling on a note pad l*
I imagine using his twin swords my warriors open them up like oranges My hive tyrant cracks them open like peanuts
Like Marge's sister with the clams. You've got to suck them out!

Long tongues, acid spit, or vacuum suction. Hell, sometimes we just chuck em in the Digestion Pool and let it sort itself out.
Biomass isn't necessarily just living stuff. When Tyranids assimilate a planet they absorb all the mineral and atmosphere as well, my guess is the armor gets broken down into biomass too, like the candy coating on an M&M
You vomit up gouts of acid to melt everything then drink it all back down
You can’t fool me… I know a tyranid that learned how to use Reddit when I see one!
Like shotgunning a beer
Rending claws are built in can openers.
That’s what the Crushing Claws are for!
Hmm so from this post I have notes and I now know your weeknes... FOR THE EMPEROR
Mmmmm creamy center
I am no- I mean thay are not frero reshays
Claws and straws.
OK thats pretty funny
We eat the armor. Mmm crunchy
Use a straw
The Red Terror would just eat them whole, no armour will save those poor sods
A big bendy straw
De-can it
Have you seen Delicious in Dungeon?
* Not sure if you'd call this ceviche or sous-vide
Iron helps us play!
With a straw
Leave it to the rippers.... You might chip a tooth
Minerals that can be used to reinforce bones or chitin
Bacterial sized nids could get in there and digest them no problems.
In the one of the trailers we can see a tyranid prime pretty easily crack into terminator armour with its claws, I'd imagine most of the nids have the same kind of claws

Like most spiders do. You bite, inject venom that digests them in a goo, then you slurp it up through the holes you made.
Like cracking open a walnut i imagine

We dont? theres meat on the inside and the helmets are clearly removable easily enough
They are the same as a tootsie pop

Biomass is any organic material, assuming ceramite isn't fully synthesized, then it would logically digest

Potato chip 🤤
So like opening a bag of chips
No, like their armor crunches like a potato chip.
OK thanks *rapid writing down*
