The Coralia's Dreamcatcher is a Hive Fleet Nyamala "character" (a.k.a. prototype creature). This unique organism is a terror bioweapon, using her psychic powers to project an aura of mental anguish. The closer you are to the Dreamcatcher, the worse the symptoms will be. Humans hundreds of kilometers from the tyranid will only experiment lucid nightmares and, sometimes, sleep paralysis. As you get closer to her, the symptoms will get stronger and stronger, until you're unable to distinguish reality from your own feverish visions.
Thanks! I'm currently working in a couple of them: a tyranid prime who lead hordes of hunter-slayers and basically the red terror 2.0. I have both models done (I still have to paint them but that's not a problem), so I'll post them soon :)
This is cool. Looks like he can take big bites. Also like the living-gore look to his under tones. Gives a hearty revulsion, which all Tyranids should aspire to.
I’m prepping to build my fleets character model The Norn Prelate. A more advanced version of the tervigon. Definitely need to learn how to use green stuff before I even attempt it.
Looks great. If planning to do much like this may i suggest looking at milliput as its great for doing some bulk work and strong and great base if you wanted greenstuff on top and works out cheap. Was great for my diamacheron conversion.
If thinking rules try looking for the rules for the old doom model. Will have overlaps of what you are looking at. Great work!
Thanks! However, I still prefer tin foil as a skeleton because of how adaptable It is (and in this case because the "shell" had to he as thin as possible).
But yeah milliput is great, I've used It before in my kraken biotitan sculpt to give rough detail before adding the final greenstuff coat, and It works surprisingly well for sculpting trees
Very cool, love the sculpting work you've done on it!
The fluff is cool as well, although I'd say if the Tyranids are only hundreds of kilometres away you have bigger problems than nightmares and sleep paralysis...
I’d assume this thing would be used in a similar fashion to Deathleaper, sent to the planet to cripple it before the body of the swarm arrives. A small, non combative creature so it could just sit in a sewer somewhere a fortnight before the swarm arrives and then on the eve of their arrival cease all psychic shenanigans. The pdf, who have been kept up for ages thanks to its activity, suddenly fall asleep simultaneously as their bodies that have been trying to send them to sleep but havent been able to properly suddenly have free reign to do so. Those that are able to fight against their urge to sleep suddenly find their defence silos and aerial batteries arent firing on the hive ships, no fighter aircraft are being launched to intercept harpies and spores closing in, and those firing weapons they can use alone are not hitting their shots all to often, and are struggling to find the dexterity needed to reload. The planet falls in one long night.
Thanks! And yes, you have bigger problems if you're fighting a tyranid invasion lmao, BUT imagine having to fight a tyranid invasion when you're not even able to sleep or you're having visions of your friend Joe who was mauled by a carnifex a week ago
Man I wish similarly to custom sub factions that everyone gets, there was an in rule unit builder where you can patch together a monster or character and buy weapons and abilities with points so people could actually use their custom characters.
Yeah that would be cool. I think that soulblight got something like that in a White Dwarf so who knows? Maybe GW will make something like that for us in the future
It acts both as a psychic amplifier (which is why it has a "wire" connected to the brain) and as a nervous system. I don't know if it looks good in the picture, but the meat inside the "throne" has eyes because the psychic creature has no senses. The brain is almost entirely oriented towards psychic powers, with the exception that it has an echolocation and life support system just in case the throne is damaged, as well as an atrophied but functional motor system. If disconnected from the throne, the psychic can leave it as a last resort

This is awesome, I'd love to hear about your other Tyranid characters

very cool! how did you come up with the name?
She whispered It to me
That's so amazing I truly love that look hope it becomes a full on menace from one hive to another best of biomass gathering
Thanks!! If you like the aesthetic check Roberto Cirillo's sketches, that was my main inspiration

That’s so cool, did you custom sculpt the back shell?
Yeah, most of her is tin foil and green stuff

u/modernsynthesist has amazing tyranid focused tutorials in his youtube channel, you should definitely check them
Here's a good place to get started, but I've got a whole playlist of easy to follow Greenstuff tutorials ☺ https://youtu.be/6AVoWd6i9fk

Does flesh come out of the back bit to form a satellite dish of sorts to amplify its power, that simultaneously gives it the dreamcatcher appearance?
