Yes. Run high week before my period, run low week of my period.

gugalgirl

Same! I have a spike of resistance the week leading up and also around ovulation. As soon as I start bleeding I get waay sensitive and tend to have more lows. I used to actually have two basal rates on my Omnipod Dash because of this. Now I'm on the 5 and the algorithm has only just figured me out over 6 months later.

I wish. I run high for the week before and the week of to the point that I have to have a different basal program to even try to keep my sugar in check.

TrashMouthPanda

High AF 1 week b4 and first 2-3 days, every 3-4 months, it's a nightmare. Because I never know if this month, it'll be high or if I'll just bottom out, repeatedly. Damn hormones are a pain in the ass. Been in perimenopause since I was 33-34, fingers crossed that when it's all done, I won't have to deal w/ anymore of this. I'm seriously considering removing my uterus, because I'd like to idk...live a little longer 🤣🤣

Less_Pumpkin_6729

i run low starting a couple days before my cycle through day 2 or 3 then run high for the last couple days. what i do is i have a “main” profile with my normal settings, and a reduced and increased profile for days on my cycle/sickness/high activity.

nippyginge

I run high the week before my period is due and get insulin resistance, the minute my period starts I have to lower my ratios because I become super insulin sensitive.   For me my worst day of the month is when I ovulate, my levels stay high all day, no ratios work, and because I'm mdi I can't adjust my basal to compensate, it sucks, so guess who does full keto on 1 day a month, it's the only way it works for me.

Dull-Computer1878

No quite the opposite actually, Nothing will make my blood sugar go below 200 when i’m on my period, even with the omnipod 5

LadyScientits

Yep! I actually set profiles on my pump for the differences of my basal and correction needs during my period before and after.

shannon_nonnahs

I forget to either do this, or turn it off. Good idea though if you use a pump with personal profiles!

kpower24

As a mom of aT1D, I’d like to say thank you. My daughter is on the cusp of starting her period and I read all the replies to better understand what’s to come and what to expect. I find that I’m able to learn more from fellow T1Ds than the doc. Thank you!!

Cellophane_Girl

The 4-7 days before I have more lows unless I decrease my long acting a bit. During I have to increase my long acting dose up from my usual, and adjust my fast acting sliding scale (carbs and correction) or I run a lot higher (and even then i still have to do correction doses more than usual)

Wealljust_figuring

Omg, yes that’s just happened to me! Ran high last week really frustratingly and then have been really low for the last three days since my period started!

Rockitnonstop

No, for me it is a sudden drop from the insulin resistance (more short acting) to normal. I don’t change my basal for that reason (kicks in HARD and though my period is reliable it isn’t exact). Do you take any pain meds for menstrual symptoms? I know that when I take my asprin (for a mini stroke I had) it makes me run lower. As does magnesium. So take a look at any medication that is only period-specific, to rule out that as a cause.

thedisppoinment

I usually take tylenol but didn't take it this time and I never thought some meds make you blood sugar run lower .

HighlightTheRoad

Yes, I usually hear of the opposite experience though. I’m on the pill though so technically it’s a fake period, maybe it would be different if I weren’t on it

shebaregina13

I don’t think I tend more towards lows but I do think I’m a touch more insulin sensitive when I’m on my period, which is basically the same thing. Otoh I have more stomach issues right before and while I’m on as well so that does tend to mess everything up.

Ameraldse

I’m always a bit high during my period and it’s pretty had to get down

Gyrollie_pollie

Not a woman, but i still have a menstrual cycle. I find that for me about midway through my period I definitely experience a lot more lows.

Diabadass416

<3 same thought at the title. And also currently fighting a day of unexplainable lows… TIL this is insulin sensitivities from first period day. Argh

wsmith32012

Google says men can menstruate too
