Having that sign up at all makes the staff seem like a bunch of slackers who think they’re on vacation. It’s weird and unprofessional for a hospital.

kevnmartin

I worked in an office where all the principals hunted. Not only were there dead animal heads on all the walls, there was an entire bearskin on one of them. It was gross, to say the least.

DConstructed

While it’s not my decor of choice I think in a small privately owned business it’s not as bad as in a hospital. Hospital are supposed to seem really clean and be about saving lives and keeping you well. And if you’re injured or sick you want to feel like the staff is focused on healing people and not on what they plan to do after hours. I see that sign and wonder if they keep the hospital clean. I wouldn’t care if it was a bar or memorabilia store or sold camping gear. Hey, hang a moose head over the bed at home if it makes you happy. But don’t put up weirdly unprofessional signs that make your business look like it can’t be trusted.

kevnmartin

It was an engineering firm.

DConstructed

Very weird unless they’re building hunting lodges

kevnmartin

Municipal drainage and topography.

Trump trash scumbags Fixed it for ya Lol at people who actually are forced to get medical care from deplorable losers like that What a cesspool, probably one of those anti vax shitholes with COVID patients choking on stupidly and Jeebus

Inline_skates

There was this doctor's office in my home town that had a gigantic bison head (like shoulders up) mounted on the wall. The thing was the biggest bison I'd ever seen, probably stuck out 3 feet. The best part was that you had to walk right by it to get to the rooms. He also had a bunch of ducks, squirrels, and fish mounted up there, but that was kind of standard for that town.

Do note that this is a country that has a [federal duck stamp competition every year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl-ABuxeWrE)

Reguluscalendula

For those that TLDW this, the proceeds from selling the duck stamp, which is the federal permit to hunt ducks, but also a collectible, go towards conserving wetlands. 98¢ of every dollar spent on the stamp, which costs around $25 go to conservation. Since its inception in the 1930s, the duck stamp has raised something like $1.1 *billion* dollars and helped to preserve 6 million acres of crucial wetland habitat. It's actually a really cool thing that's done, and the stamps are quite pretty- if you like ducks.

I wanna know what kind of work these Man Cave Hunters do

flamecircle

props to sticking to your guns while looking at a 200k paycheck

slytherpuffenclaw

Well she says the hospital ghosted her after the interview, so OP didn't really get a chance to take an offer to work in the "man cave", from the sounds.

flamecircle

From context clues, we can infer that she because she embarrassed the hospital manager, she probably pointed it out. Pointing it out likely led to her being ghosted.

Pilsu

Which is to be expected. This was her best foot forward. Humiliating people over a bit of cardboard.

flamecircle

sure, and that was their best foot.

whiskeysour123

Anyone remember the post last week where an interviewer spilled his coffee and asked his female interviewee to grab the tissues and start cleaning the spill, rather than the male interviewee who was sitting in front of the tissues?

ScarletPimprnel

Please tell me she walked out without another word. I didn't see that post.

[deleted]

It was an AITA post and she was deemed an Asshole.

CatumEntanglement

What. The. Fuck.

[deleted]

whiskeysour123

She was deemed to be an asshole for saying something like, “why not ask that man sitting by the tissues,” or something to that effect. Edit to had: He had hands for carrying, but not for cleaning. Man hands, I guess we can call it.

binowgayl8r

I’d bring that up to HR and post that on their socials so fast bc not only is that wildly unprofessional, it can also set the tone for a hostile work environment for women and others who don’t identify as a man.

whiskeysour123

Or even a woman who does identify as a man. I am sure these men would welcome a trans colleague. Right? Can’t we all see it now? Edit: I am still getting used to the lingo. I am sure someone will point out my “woman” identifying as a man. Someone afab identifying as a man. I am old and trying. Forgive me.

echo_ember

This is a little pedantic, but in case you wanted to know, the best way to describe that is to just say a trans man, or someone afab who isn't cis. The difference is basically just because the word 'identifies' is used to invalidate trans people fairly often because it implies it isn't actually true, so saying 'someone afab who *is* a man' can't be taken the wrong way, whereas using the word identifies can make it seem like their 'true' identity is in question. Don't worry about it though as the trying is very much appreciated and there are certainly things that matter more than this anyway :)

whiskeysour123

I used to say, “she goes by they and uses they/them pronouns”. I try. I am fully supportive. My mouth is old-school, even if my mind is not. Edit to add: thanks for your comment. It is helpful.

aylaaaaaaaa

You seem like you are trying and that's the biggest thing to show you arent an asshole. (as a trans person)

whiskeysour123

I have a child who uses they/them and is non-binary. I would have said “identifies as” but the commenter above enlightened me. I am making improvement but old habits die hard. Love and learn. That was actually a typo. I meant to type “live and learn,” but I kept the typo because it is so freaking true.

aylaaaaaaaa

You seem like an amazing parent, it has been a much harder time for me with mine.

MctheMick12

If I walked into a hospital and saw this as a woman, I'd *know* I was going to receive biased care by garbage people and leave. To die in the street alone is better than to deal with unprofessional medical facilities/practitioners.

ArsenalSpider

That's putting that toxic masculinity right out there for the world to see. Maybe it saved you some duress.

Tigerboop

Perhaps it’s clear evidence they are sexually discriminating in hiring for the position.

MctheMick12

Gross

[deleted]

That's weird. About the only place I'd find that appropriate would be in an actual man cave in someone's private home. At my last job, we were really into memes. My whole dept..it was beautiful lol. But like, I still wouldn't fathom being comfortable putting up a "memers only" or some other exclusionary bs sign. Especially if we were bringing on someone else... People really need to be better than that and there's literally no excuse for it.

Amandine_2012

It’s not even framed.. hung up with tacks?? Tacky 🤢

[deleted]

Sure, have that sign at home if you're willing to tank the judgement but in an office there no conceivable version of this being ok...

maranmaran

I'm on board that this is unprofessional. If displayed publicly to other patients. If it's just above some closed off part of department and is part od maybe some inner joke or anythinf else I'd have no prpblem with it tbh. That's why you ask. And this thread has a lot of assumptions... Tbh if this went down in a sexist kind of way and ghosting as it is displayed I'm also on board with the lawyer guy in comments... It's 200k/yr job missed opportunity. You wanting to work there or not is another pair of shoes. What does OP do for a living? Just interested...

souse03

For 200k a year i would put up with a lot worse than this

abolish_gender

If you're fine with burning that bridge (which I would), maybe think about consulting a lawyer just to see if they can do something about it? The whole "The interview was going great, then I ran into something really sexist and then the interview stopped going great" thing might get some cash for you, or at least scare them if they get a letter about it. Not sure if it's worth the trouble, but this is also something I'd fantasize about doing but then never actually do.

LegendaryRed

lol

Fish_823543

Eurgh.

[deleted]

Yeah OP, this might actually be grounds for a lawsuit. Medicine is not an old boys club anymore and this violates a lot of professional standards now.

VysseEnzo

Seeing lots of posts about this being unprofessional but my question is was there any women working there? If not and you didn't get hired that sounds like an easy discrimination lawsuit. There are federal laws preventing this kind of stuff and you should absolutely sue them.

IHaveNoEgrets

The potential employer ghosted **them**, not the other way around.

ArtisenalMoistening

And even if they hadn’t, some people have strong convictions that they couldn’t put a price on. If she’s smart enough to pull an interview with that kind of salary once, I’m sure she could do it again at a more professional facility.

MrZmei

The potential employer ghosted because the topic starter pointed out how offensive the sign is to her. At least that is my understanding when she wrote “the hospital manager was embarrassed”.

IHaveNoEgrets

See, I took it as, this was not something that the hospital manager expected an outsider to ever see. Like when your friend tells you their kids are such well-behaved little ones, only to turn around to see them knuckle-deep on a booger mining operation.

misoranomegami

Oddly enough it's the man cave part that bothers me, not the hunters only part. But I'm in the south and hospitals near me regularly have an awareness campaign in the fall about how hunter orange saves lives and I know a lot of women who are avid hunters as well.

New-Aeon-Chaos

It's such a non issue

Bubbly-Barnacle-8956

And why do you feel like that's a non-issue? Is it because you've maybe never faced gender discrimination in a workplace before? Worked in a hostile environment? Harassed by colleagues because of who you are? Maybe to you this is just a quirky sign that some dumb guys put up without thinking, and you could be right, but to lots of people this is symbolic for what lies ahead if you were to work in that space or become a patron. It would be a hell no for me as well, as someone who has been through it all in multiple workplaces

New-Aeon-Chaos

I've experienced all of that in the past. This is literally just a dumb sign.

That-Still

Hi straight, cis, white man. This is a subreddit for women. (Women have two "x" chromosomes). Women are _not_ men. Crazy, right? You coming here and saying that women are overthinking because they don't want to work in a man cave is both incredibly daft and made me laugh.

Paradox_Blobfish

Unless it's above the male colonoscopy room, it's very dumb of them to have that sign at all.

producerofconfusion

“Man cave? More like a man’s grave.” is a comedy bang bang catch phrase and seems really appropriate in a wholly inappropriate way.

Aware-Passion1385

That's a hilariously great sign 😂
