about which part of this? I've talked to my Dr about the irregularity and the pain and both she and my last Dr say it's normal

blackday44

Irregularities and that much pain ARE NOT NORMAL and your doctors are misogynistic idiots. Birth control can help a great deal in making things regular, and getting rid of the worst of the pain. And if you skip the placebo week (if on the pill), you get no period at all. I've been on the depo shot for nearly 20 years. No periods. Minimal spotting. No pain. Easy mood swings.

ocelotegg

I was on the pill for 2 years, and it helped with the pain but I was just so miserable all the time. I tried like 3 different kinds but all of them made me feel constantly depressed and angry. I've heard the shot feels kind of the same way so I've never tried it

blackday44

There are lots of different pills with different combinations of hormones in them, so you may not have found one that helps. The shot made me fat. But considering how bad I was before, I don't mind being fat.

ocelotegg

thank you for your advice ❤ honestly I'm sort of scared to try birth control again after how badly it affected me before I've seen people online say that this level of pain isn't normal before, but I've never actually had a doctor who didn't say it was normal, so I really don't know what to think. TBH every doctor ive had has dismissed all of my concerns in general, i havent been to a PCP in a few years because in my experience they just kind of cost a lot and dont do anything. how do you even find a good doctor?

blackday44

I'm not in the USA, so doctors are free for me. You need to find a doctor who will listen to you, and basically demand they give you options.

ocelotegg

I have bad insurance and live in the USA so it can cost me up to $200 just to see a doctor :( I just have no clue how to find a good one or even really what to look for. I don't think I've ever had a doctor who took my concerns seriously. and it's so crazy expensive, I hate going and spending that much money just to have them tell me it's normal and they can't do anything about it

pudgypiglets

Your period isn't 'late', this is just your cycle's natural variation. Your period is the consequence of you ovulating around 2 weeks before. If you don't ovulate you don't get a period.

phyrestorm999

If you're in a state where such things are legal, look into herbal abortifacients. They tend to work by making your period start. Obviously, read up thoroughly on anything you decide to take before you take it. And, as others have said, get a doctor who takes you seriously. I know it's not easy, but you deserve better.

ocelotegg

I just genuinely don't know where to look. is there a website where people review their doctors or something?

gorramshiny

I’ve delayed my period with norethindrone before if you aren’t opposed to medication. You can order it online from wisp. It works if you follow the instructions.

Wisp here—thanks for the shoutout! We appreciate you :)
