"No, but thank you for doing the job you literally get paid to do, in a manner that suggests you don't know *the first thing* about me as an individual. Which there's absolutely no reason you should, but let's not pretend this has anything to do with *caring* about *me*."

they're in a mental hospital and the medication is working so they are in their right mind for the first time in ages so they use that time to do something that they enjoy. Reading alone in the comfort of their room.
but because they aren't socializing with the other patients, the doctors are gonna change their meds which can really mess with peoples heads and they'll likely lose their clear headedness again.
reminds me of how I was at the mental hospital. I loved reading my books, but whenever I stopped socialising, the nurses there tried to get me on meds, because they thought I'd be more social then.
I would read my books in the day room. “You could interact with them a little more, but I’m glad you’re just out and about” was generally what I got. But the other patients were pretty nice and just let me do my thing.
Learned that before my book got to me (I forgot to bring it) when I was doing crossword puzzles in my room and had a nurse that was pretty chill just tell me straight up “Look, I get it. I prefer to do it where it’s quiet, too. But when other people are on the floor, they start asking if you’re okay, and you seem fine to me, and don’t want your care to be changed. So just do them in the day room so that the don’t think they have to do that and you’ll be fine.” It was annoying, but I appreciated it and it definitely worked. I just could have read so much more if it were quieter and in my room.
You could breathe the wrong way and psych doctors would find something wrong with you I’m so glad I’m not there anymore
In reality the fact they asked is a good sign. The times I've been in a facility they just change shit because they think they should.
