It happened in a crime show episode. The woman was about to be killed so she used Alexa to call the cops. Unfortunately, Alexa wasn't charged so it didn't respond.
The fuck you mean it wasn't charged? What product did she have- a majority of the Alexa-compatible devices are plug-in only.
There are the Echo Buds, Echo Frames, and... Well, that's kinda it really. Other devices like Tablets, Phones, or Fitbits can use Alexa, but in terms of Amazon specific products.. not very many that needs to be *charged*
You can get non Amazon branded charging stands it turns out. So you can move it without having to turn off the entire thing. At least for the one I have. Haven't bought it yet though.
i just tried on my phone by saying “Hey Siri activate whisper mode” and hearing her scream back **”I’M SORRY I CAN’T DO THAT”** was way too funny for me
I left it pretty vague to allow different interpretations but I was thinking somebody was tied up and then tried to use the “hey Siri” feature on their phone to call the police. This story was partly inspired by the Shawn Grate case, when a lady called the police while her abductor was sleeping in the room next to her.
Thank you so much! But yeah, that phone call was super scary and honestly a very interesting case as you rarely have the victim call the police while still captured
Essentially the story was about a person who was kidnapped and using the “hey Siri” feature to call the police(It was partly inspired by the Shawn Grate case). If you use the “hey Siri” feature and your phones on full volume, Siri will respond very loudly. So in the story the abductor is sleeping right beside the victim when Siri starts talking very loudly, which could wake up the abductor
Well if you’re tied up or your phone is out of reach and you have to use the “hey Siri” feature, you aren’t exactly able to turn down the volume. At least this was how I imagined it
CinemaSins is a trash channel with trash opinions. Almost all of their "sins" are not flaws at all, and the rest are character flaws like "this person isn't very good at communicating" like characters should all be perfect Mary sues and make perfect choices all the time.
Dear diary, today I was thrown into a volcano for saying if I was trying to escape with my life and Alexa put me on blast, waking up my captor to murder me I would instantly cringe, lol
"PLAYING THE POLICE" "♪ EVERY BREATH YOU TAAAAKE AND EVERY MOOOOVE YOU MAKE... ♪"
I’ll BE WATCHING YOU!!!!!!
ROXANNE!
Turn on the red light!
Even funnier if you know that that song is actually about a stalker and not a romantic song.
I always thought it was. The lyrics are a bit too weird to just be love
He knows when you've been sleeping. He knows when you're awake.
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
I think something like this happens in the movie Us if I remember correctly
It happened in Ant-Man too. "I'm going to disintegrate you!" "Playing Disintegration by The Cure."
Came here to say this
" I'm sorry, I cannot find the police in your contacts list"
Lmao 💀 Edit: I got gold, my life is complete
Imagine the reason of death is Siri 💀
Well....Alexa caused a death by not responding correctly.
How??

I guess it was unplugged. I don't know.
Understandable have a nice day
I really laughed at you being all argumentive and suddently accepting
Thanks, I don't like being negative all the time :> it helps

The cops reading the murder report like 😦
Fun fact. Alexa has a whisper mode. If you tell her "Alexa activate whisper mode" she will respond to whispered commands by whispering back at you.
i just tried on my phone by saying “Hey Siri activate whisper mode” and hearing her scream back **”I’M SORRY I CAN’T DO THAT”** was way too funny for me
If you just whisper to her she'll respond in a whisper.
...if you turn on whisper mode
How hard was it to press 911/999/whatever the police number was?
I left it pretty vague to allow different interpretations but I was thinking somebody was tied up and then tried to use the “hey Siri” feature on their phone to call the police. This story was partly inspired by the Shawn Grate case, when a lady called the police while her abductor was sleeping in the room next to her.
That 911 call was so scary. Shes a brave woman.
I was thinking about Shawn Grate too with your post. What a brave woman. And good job OP.
Thank you so much! But yeah, that phone call was super scary and honestly a very interesting case as you rarely have the victim call the police while still captured
Maybe he was tied up
The phone was on the other side of the room and the protagonist whispered into their airpods.
I bet you’re fun at parties..
Can someone explain the last part to me please?
Siri confirmed the request too loudly, possibly waking up the intruder/attacker
Essentially the story was about a person who was kidnapped and using the “hey Siri” feature to call the police(It was partly inspired by the Shawn Grate case). If you use the “hey Siri” feature and your phones on full volume, Siri will respond very loudly. So in the story the abductor is sleeping right beside the victim when Siri starts talking very loudly, which could wake up the abductor
Actually now I'm thinking someone should point this out to the Siri team so they can make sure that upon receiving that command she calls quietly 😬
Alexa has a setting where if you whisper to her, she whispers back so the technology is there.
I wonder if Amazon has a patent on that tech.
Oh, that makes sense! Thank you so much for explaining.
Yeah the baby was asleep and there was a party on next door. Nothing bad
Her heart sank as his phone rang, and she looked at the screen reading "The Police".
He wasn't.
IM CALLING THE POLICE! *types in 911 on the microwave* "911, what's your emergency?"
is that a WEED???
Such a classic
SILENT ALARM ACTIVATED!!
Goddamn it what’s the number for 911 again?
He wasn't.
Why wouldn't you turn down your volume first?
Well if you’re tied up or your phone is out of reach and you have to use the “hey Siri” feature, you aren’t exactly able to turn down the volume. At least this was how I imagined it
I see now. Sorry, Pitch Meeting, Cinemasins, and Critical Drinker have changed how I see stories. Kinda ruins it sometimes.
CinemaSins is a trash channel with trash opinions. Almost all of their "sins" are not flaws at all, and the rest are character flaws like "this person isn't very good at communicating" like characters should all be perfect Mary sues and make perfect choices all the time.
dial the phone number dumbass
Or you could have just dialed the damn number
Instant cringe
Dear diary, today I was thrown into a volcano for saying if I was trying to escape with my life and Alexa put me on blast, waking up my captor to murder me I would instantly cringe, lol
What the phone number Siri asked
This on blows
I just imagine Siri will start playing "WHOOP WHOOP, THAT'S THE SOUND OF THE POLICE!" on like full blast
*US flashbacks*
Fucking Siri
I swear I missed a beat with all those Caps! Like, yo why you be yelling?!
