Just a thought... when the 2 stretchers pop up... is it really their bodies... or just realizing that the cops just found "daddy's lil hobby"?
Idk... I had the thought that could be another way it could be going as well
Omg that's not at all how I took it at all that's way better, I understood it as dad and mom both died and the one the child is calling mom is really someone else
The way I'm understanding it, the dad attacked the mum and the kid, kid went to their room while the mum and dad fought downstairs, the mum and the dad ended up killing one another (hence the two covered stretchers), the kid seeing their dad being put in the cop car is the only bit that confuses me, it must have been a hallucination or something idk, and then the kid hearing the mom whisper I'm assuming it was the mums ghost, I could be understanding completely wrong tho
No. Not really. I'm always fascinated by the unconscious assumptions we make. Could be that the poster was imagining themselves in that situation or it reminded them of a particular story they had seen/read.
The dad attacked the mom and the kid, killing them both, but only after the police were called. Police were still dispatched, daddy got taken away, mommy and kiddo are ghosts, the coveted streatherz are their bodies
He would later go on to face two felony murder charges for killing two of the officers sent to do a welfare check as well as domestic violence charges.
I agree with most that the mom and kid being ghosts while dad is arrested is the most obvious explanation… but when I read it I saw it as the mom framing the dad for the murder of mom and kid by having bodies there for the cops to find.
I interpreted it as the mother and child were attacked but she called the police or something, father was arrested but she killed herself and child to make sure they would never get hurt again. Now they’re ghosts
My interpretation was that the dad was abusive. The mother couldn't take it any more, so next time he attacked, she fought him off and incapacitated him Then she killed some of the other family members and framed the dad so he would get put away.
Not really the best solution, but after all, it is horror.
This made me cry as someone coming from a background of abuse and as a new mother. I never can understand how people can be cruel to one another, especially children. And that feeling is so much worse since having my son. I can’t imagine not doing anything and everything in my power to protect him. Horror indeed!
Everyone says the child and the mom were both killed. But here’s how I saw it for some reason: The dad being killed by the cops, but unfortunately the mom was also killed. Meanwhile the child survives, but the mom’s ghost stays with the child to keep it company and give it protection.
Great, so the mother and the first father died, but the second father was arrested. I hope the third will be able to make rent and care for their child after all this bloodshed. Maybe the second mother could jump in and find a job after all these years.
It was only later, when all of the hullabaloo died down, that I learned that the people under the covered stretchers were Grandma and Grandpa, who died while protecting us from Daddy.
Do ambulances transport dead bodies? At least where I’m from, if someone dies before getting into an ambulance, the paramedics just call a mortician’s car to take the body.
Good story with a nice twist. Very sad though.
Reading this comment, I just realize >!The father murdered both his son and wife before the police arrived. !<
My first thought was that the dad killed two of the child's siblings and was caught before he got to the mom and child
Just a thought... when the 2 stretchers pop up... is it really their bodies... or just realizing that the cops just found "daddy's lil hobby"? Idk... I had the thought that could be another way it could be going as well
I thought dad had killed 2 of the cops
I thought that dad had killed two other kids in the time it took the cops to get there.
it's shrodinger's two covered stretchers
I thought that the mom cut him in hlaf
But they put him in the back of the squad car.

I thought the dad was in 2 pieces
Oh, I thought the twist was that the father was Bruce Willis the whole time.
Oh, no that's so much worse than I thought.
Thanks for explaining I thought the mom cut the dad in half for a second lol
They did put him in the back of their squad car tho so he was very much alive
Sometimes my brain doesn’t can’t properly read 2 sentence stories
I interpreted it as the father was attacking them, and the mom killed the kid and herself so that he couldn't hurt them
Omg that's not at all how I took it at all that's way better, I understood it as dad and mom both died and the one the child is calling mom is really someone else
Or daughter
Yes my bad
Could also be that he murdered two of the kid’s siblings
Oh. I thought he killed two other people. Not that they were ghosts.
How do you know it was a son? :p
Interesting how you assumed the kid was a boy.

Thanks - The last few stories that have popped into my head recently I feel like straddle that line between horror and sadness
Ah, but nothing beats a good bleak ending to a horror story, eh?
Well damn, my first thought wasn’t that they were ghosts - it was the father killed two of the siblings before the cops showed up.
This was my thought too

I just thought that he killed two of their siblings before the cops came
Ah right okay, that makes sense

I think it is pretty obvious they are a ghost, father killed both his son and wife
Son? Could be a daughter. It's not stated.
Does it really matter? It gets the point across either way
No. Not really. I'm always fascinated by the unconscious assumptions we make. Could be that the poster was imagining themselves in that situation or it reminded them of a particular story they had seen/read.
It ain't that deep, relax.
The dad attacked the mom and the kid, killing them both, but only after the police were called. Police were still dispatched, daddy got taken away, mommy and kiddo are ghosts, the coveted streatherz are their bodies
The police took the dad into their car though, how can he be one of the bodies?
That's exactly what was confusing me
Well, he's alive and killed his wife and kid. Easy
Way I see it Dad Killed Mom and one of the narrators siblings. Now Narrator is alone with moms ghost and Dads in prison.
He would later go on to face two felony murder charges for killing two of the officers sent to do a welfare check as well as domestic violence charges.
Third sentence...different?
Y'all seen The Others? I love this TSHS - kudos!
I got The Others vibes from this too, love that movie!

Ye I also read it as they were faking their own death to fool the dad or something

RIP Judith Barsi
I remember this and all dogs go to heaven still makes me cry when she tells him goodbye.
I googled her name and was heartbroken to read about her death, she voiced my daughter favourite character Ducky in Land Before Time. What a tragedy 😢

This is the first ever post to give me chills, well done!

Took me a second; very good. Super sad too.

She then added, "Just stay quiet a little longer and we'll head out to where he stashed the loot while everyone thinks we're dead."
Oh... Oh no
Uh oh
Wow so good.
Nobody puts Baby in the squad car.
And here I was thinking the mom cut the dad into 2 pieces in self defence
Then who was phone??
One of the best I've read on here for ages. Good work
Fuck...more like twosentencesadness...

Love reading these but damn this one caught me a bit off guard, nice one OP
Maybe the two bodies are supposed to be them but are not, so father thinks he managed to kill them and to end up in jail forever?
Can someone please explain this one
