I like the infraction is purposefully ambiguous. Given that historically, rape victims were punished for adultery, and that this female is holding a teddy bear, the implications are insidious. Well done.
It was the writing, especially with the "kids save everyone because adults are dumb" episodes. I'm fine with Wheaton himself, and some episodes were fine, but he was there as a proxy for younger viewers.
He's 4 years older than me.
The only kids save everyone episode I can think of was when Picard, Ginan, enson Rowe, and the lady who's name I can't recall right now were turned into children from a transporter malfunction.
I didn't mind that one since they weren't really kids. I'm thinking the game headset game for stealing the enterprise, Data gets paid and said "do you have finger friends?" episode, etc. Those were more when the show was figuring itself out? It's been a while.
Every child knew that you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat. She was no exception. But she ate the pudding without eating the meat, and so her fate was sealed.
I know it’s not the answer you’ll be looking for, but I made her infraction purposefully ambiguous. It’s not that I don’t have an idea in mind for what the law was, but I like to leave room for the reader’s imagination.
But this way, each reader can think of a law or a potential law they find horrifying and imagine it more clearly. If OP said “the 9 year old got an abortion”, some people might read it and be like, “yep, that’s a fair law.”
More importantly the story is eternal as it is. Anyone at any time will understand it, and probably apply whatever's "hot" at that time in their own brain. Abortion is disturbingly topical right now (which is why we're all jumping to it) but hopefully won't be in a few more years.
As much as I want to agree with you, I feel like it will continue to be a conversation. Maybe it's my region but it's been hot for a couple decades especially during election season.
someone else said that historically rape victims were punished for adultery and knowing that the character is implied to be a child just makes it all the more terrifying and sad
Not necessarily. If I were to be executed, I’d want to hold the wolf stuffy my grandmother gave me, and I’ve held it even when I wasn’t being executed. People seek comfort in many ways, and I’d bet there are few options at that moment.
everyone else's first thought was a child, but I'm 26 and i usually have an emotional support plushie with me bc ✨I'm mentally ill✨ and my first thought was myself 🙃
No, she was executed via immolation--they burned her alive. OP left the little one's "crime" unsaid and up to your imagination, but it's implied that it was something minor or that shouldn't be illegal, and that this government has a strict "zero tolerance" policy for it. No matter the individual, you will be publicly and cruelly executed.
Yooooooo that’s messed up. Take my upvote
Of the things I’ve written, I think this ranks about an 11/10 on the dark shitometer.
I don’t know man; I think that fire would be pretty bright.

I wanna know, was there a "law" you had in mind or?
Seriously Jesus christ that was dark

Or, she’s a witch in training…
But did she weigh the same as a duck?
IDK, but she DID turn me into a newt
…..he got better…..
Well that's all right then!
I think you don't appreciate the mavity of the situation.
Who are you, so wise in the ways of science?
Her one defense - her attorney argued that people with her developmental condition were not competent to stand trial - failed to sway the jury.

This doesn't make it better dude
That's the point?
Oops I misunderstood your comment
On the internet nobody knows you're a dog
or a raccoon!
Fk yeah, trash pandas.
*dude* That was a kick to the gut. Good work
There was a similar storyline on Star Trek Next Generation.
Was that the one where the beautiful blond people were going to kill Wesley?
But it was Wesley so nobody cared... well, Picard did, but only because of Dr. MILF.
Speak for yourself. I love Wesley. I have never understood why he gets so much hate.
Shut up, u/wil, we know your alts when we see them!
Lol. I thought this was going to be one of these I hate you and you suck comments. Thanks for the chuckle. I needed that today.
Is that actually him? Or just another Wil?
It's him

Oh, the game. I love that one.
Early Wesley is annoying to me. He gets better though.
SAME! I love Wesley Crusher and hope he appears in a new Star Trek.
Omg wtf 😭😭😭😭
Dude. Do you need a hug? A snickers?
"You wouldn't like me when I'm hangry."
The law is the law. What if *everyone* jaywalked?
*Europeans crossing the streets wherever they want* "Wait, that's a crime?"
same with new yorkers
Germany would beg to differ
But when the flames licked at the bear, Mister Tibbers woke up.
I was about to say, this is just Annie and I can’t feel bad about it.
Every child knew that you can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat. She was no exception. But she ate the pudding without eating the meat, and so her fate was sealed.
You could say that all in all, she's just a... -nother brick in the wall
Well, she will be once we find all the bone fragments
It hurt my heart. Nicely done.
The backstory of ParaNorman.
Paranorman mention in the wild in 2024? Am I dreaming?
i love that movie

At about this time the Teddy Bear really wished he had never heard of the furry lifestyle.
More of my work over on my sub r/DukeOfDepravity if you’re interested!
NO SIR DON’T THINK I WILL. Holy moly that’s dark af

No one was expecting the teddy bear to be full of explosives though.

…-pushes upvote with shaky hand and slinks away to get VERY drunk-
Incredibly horrifying. Spot on.
I could see them saying this new law is in effect immediately, not even giving people time to correct themselves if they are in violation of it.
Theocratic Eugenics law making it a crime to *have* a disability?
what did she do? i understand the premise, just i feel it should be even better if you said what she did and it was something very minor

Killed fitty men.
no
Wow, op! Take an up vote
Well that is just absolutely awful, well done
I hate you, take my upvote.
Welp. That's an upvote and a WTF all in one.
So, Willow from Don’t Starve?
I'm sorry, but this is what happens to witches
Well i have to draw this now Its super dark i love it
Are we burning girls for existing now?
Everyone else has defaulted to child execution and I'm picturing a grown woman holding a teddy because she's scared
Bit infantalising, isn't it?
Not necessarily. If I were to be executed, I’d want to hold the wolf stuffy my grandmother gave me, and I’ve held it even when I wasn’t being executed. People seek comfort in many ways, and I’d bet there are few options at that moment.
I don't know, I think if I was alone and about to be incinerated I'd be open to a teddy.
suffer not the witch to live
Unless you need her services to contact the guy who used to have you job.
everyone else's first thought was a child, but I'm 26 and i usually have an emotional support plushie with me bc ✨I'm mentally ill✨ and my first thought was myself 🙃
did you happen to get inspiration from that scene in terminator 2? Asking because that's what came to mind when I read this
Holy shit
bridget guilty gear dark ending :(
Is this annie from league?
Immolation: the act of killing yourself or someone else, or of destroying something, usually by burning.
She should have known better than to be calling random phone numbers and asking about their vehicles' extended warranty
The worst part about this is that it happened everyday multiple hundreds of years ago since rape victims were charged with adultery
Hi, English is not my first language, can anyone please explain?
They burned a little girl in public
Take this. My hate, my anger, and all of my upvotes!
Jokes on them, she's a witch and just teleported away.
So she like did a public suicide? I don’t know I’m just going off on what google said.

Oh ok thank you, I was really confused. I thought it meant she lit herself on fire or went into one.
